It's a small house/building - and I believe it is currently only open for visits on Sunday afternoons - please verify their hours before visiting. There are lots of interesting exhibits, including old newspaper articles about the events of the day throughout various parts of history... There are two levels to the house - the main level (ground floor) and an upstairs. I found the kitchen to be interesting - seeing how things were back in days of yore... #PhillipsHouseMuseum

We came here on the weekend and the things they didn't have were soo random. The other restaurant we visited, we asked for 3 separate items on the menu and they didn't have any of them. When we would ask they would say, well it's on the menu Mon-Thurs. Or Mon-Friday, how is that possible, aren't you busy on weekends? Then why is it on the menu, maybe make menus' for weekdays and then weekends? So bizarre. So we went to the bar and then just ordered drinks, Maybe that is the trick, they just want you to drink and spend money and then eat later at dinner time if you make it to then.

As I approached the Arcata Marsh Interpretive Center building - I flushed a large number of crows…read morefrom the building and around - which surprised me. I've never seen so many Crows. After entering, I met a gentleman that was manning the Interpretive Center. We had a long conversation about the Marsh and the ecology of the area - and I asked him about the Crows. Turns out I was there at low tide. The creek channels meandering through the Marsh are largely dewatered at low tide - and this exposes the mud - and these tiny little mud crabs - which the Crows then target for a meal. So the Crows congregate around the Interpretive Center during this time of the day, swoop in, snag a mud crab, then find a place to eat it. There are a number of pilings sticking up in the Marsh - which were supports for a now long defunct tannery. The Crows apparently land on the tops of the pilings to smash open the mud crabs and eat them. The Interpretive Center has some interesting and informative exhibits about the ecology of the Arcata Marsh. The person I chatted with told me I should come back again later in the day during high tide. Apparently there is a family of river otters that is intermittently seen swimming through the channels of the Marsh! I dearly would have loved to have experienced that. I planned to come back at High Tide - but never actually made it back due to an overloaded schedule of vacation things to see and do! There is a network of hiking trails through the Marsh as well. I hiked a brief section of the Marsh before calling it a day. Check this place out! Plan to spend some time here - slow down and enjoy it! #ArcataMarshInterpretiveCenter

This spot is a nice place to go on runs, walks, watch sunsets, do school research, attend field…read moretrips, and so do much more. Especially if you are here you will be able to find various unique birds by going bird watching after all the interpretative center is an area to educate yourself with the wildlife that habitat themselves in the am nearby areas of the marsh. I do have fond memories of going on field trips here and checking out the area where the urine disposal goes. Sounds gross, I know but believe it or not it was highly educational. Apparently the only plant that can pass into our intestines and still reproduce is the tomato seed. It was quite the sight to see. Many small plants were growing in what looked like a cross between a small green house and a gated barn. Surprisingly it didn't smell terrible outside. I do want to warn people from going to late in this marsh people not only can you run into interesting folks but also interesting bugs, critters and animals the darker it becomes. Overall, keep your eyes peeled and senses heightened because EVERY SINGLE TIME we always discover or see something new we didn't see before ^_*

What I Love about this library is that you can reap the benefits of various resources especially if…read moreyou're at HSU student or alumni. For instance you can rent out books, articles or scientific periodicals from other California state universities and I was told also order from international Universities. The benefit of being a grad school is that you can have books up to one year until return date is due and rent out their cam corders and camera for an extended period of time . I started off at this school in 2017 and I definitely have seen many renovations through the years including the café, study rooms, tall shelving and interactive group desks, where group members can meet an use a TV to connect to class projects or the Internet. Till this day the library still has a glass case where they display a wide assortment of clubs, issues and events on campus, with nice added touches of regalia/memorabilia! I highly appreciate the fact that this library recycles electronics this can be found at the exit of the library in the main entrance.

I would check out book after book with no problems at all--lots of books at a time even. I learned more from reading these academic library books than from my classes. Great selection of poetry, too. I mean GREAT. And to top it off, there's coffee! I miss having access to so many wonderful books.
