Initially the hair was just a bit too bright, and Paul gladly re-toned it a bit darker, which I was happy with. My appointment ended after the sun had set, so it wasn't until the next day that I saw my hair in natural light. When I finally did, it came across to me as pretty brassy. I lived with it for a few days to see if I could grow to like it, but ultimately I decided to call the salon and see if they would bring me in to tone it again. I even asked about cost, I was not expecting to get it done for free. They never followed up after I called the first time (Inthey needed to check with a manager who would be working the next day). I finally called again to follow up, had to reexplain to the receptionist, and they told me they would message their manager and get back to me. It has now been about a week and I still haven't heard back. I ended up buying some Natural Instincts from Shoppers and toning it down myself, so I am happy now. I just wish it had been handled a bit better by the salon. Still, would recommend Paul (I believe he works at the Surrey location, but I saw him at the W 1st location!)

Then I receive a call from suki's within 15 minutes after my conversation with her , informing me that Kathleen has a client who is having her colour done and that if i can make it to the salon right now . I was shocked because I just talked to her stating that I'm running late. And also it would take me about 20- 30 minutes to drive to the salon from home. I had an event to attend and was looking forward to having my hair done. This would have been my second visit to Suki's . Today I was really disappointed that the staff at Suki's didn't respect client's time. If your client booked an appointment 2 weeks in advance how do you justify your actions. I will be taking my business elsewhere and hope your staff learn to schedule accordingly in the future and learn to manage their time better. Even though your staff wanted me to come in and see a senior stylist , I would have preferred that my appointment be with the person I booked with 2 weeks ago.

This is a review for the Japanese General Level 1 language course…read more Currently halfway through the course (week 4) but so far, the course has been amazing! Class size maxes out at 10 people so classes are intimate and you get to know your fellow classmates. Apparently the course still runs if minimum 2 people are registered in the course! Price remains the same but it's considered semi-private lessons and are 1.5 hours long. If 3 or more people register, it goes back to being 2 hours long. Yoshiko, our instructor, is fabulous, always making sure we understand before moving on to the next part of the lesson. Classes are a blend of conversational and writing, 60/40 mix. For the Japanese General courses, they cover two chapters of GENKI I textbook (textbook has 12 chapters, good for the first 6 levels of Japanese at IH!). By the end of level 1, we are suppose to know hiragana, katakana and also be introduced to kanji! It's no cakewalk, do expect to put in some effort but it's totally worth it! I've taken many language courses in high school, undergrad and continuing ed (e.g. french, mandarin, latin) but this course is my favorite hands down! Because the course is during November/December session, it is only 7 weeks long instead of the regular 8 weeks (due to Christmas break). Regardless, 2 chapters are still going to be covered! Price is reasonable, $195+tax and textbook if you don't have your own copy (+ $75). In regards to the admin staff, I have had no problems with them. Course registration was painless, and they were able to provide me with an official invoice/receipt for work purposes. Overall I am extremely happy with the quality of language instruction and small intimate class sizes. It's also located at a convenient location downtown, close to Stadium-Chinatown skytrain station. That being said, I'm definitely continuing on to Level 2 in the new year =D

The entire operation was pretty smooth from registration through to the end of the course. Registration online is easy. However, I would recommend that they differentiate International House Vancouver (ihvancouver.com) offering more than just language training -- homestays, volunteering, work experience, etc. from the modern languages area (languages-vancouver.com). Both are based out of the same office, but becomes confusing for those looking for just one or the other. A quick assessment test over the phone pretty much determines which level you would be appropriate for. The curricula are set up so that you can progress at your own pace since it is a rolling schedule. The classes themselves are small with (based on my observation) student-teacher ratios no more than 15:1. This is essential to getting enough attention from the teacher especially in the critical level 1 classes where you're learning the foundations of a language. Classes can be as small as 3 but I've never seen classes larger than 15. The instructors (which really make up the majority of your experience with the school) are great. I've only ever had one but the quality of instruction is on par with what you'd experience at a continuing ed course at a local college or university. The program also offers instructor feedback which indicates they take their quality of instruction seriously. I'm already signed up for level 2 but I encourage anyone looking to learn or improve their language skills to give IH a good hard look. They provide solid teaching & structured learning for good value vs. other institutions in the city.

When I showed up she questioned me as to whether I had actually booked an appointment which was clearly marked on her calendar. It took well over 15 minutes to finally sit in a chair. I've been to the school on a number of previous occasions and was always very well received and happy with the overall experience. This was a first time incident and the young woman who was apparently chief instructor, was unkind and unprofessional. I brought this up with the instructor who oversaw my haircut and she reacted negatively as well. That said, the students were helpful. So I have to say that this was a very bad day all around and I prefer to not return.

Matt gave a great cut and checked in with the instructor entire time to make sure that I was going to be happy with the cut and look. It did take longer than my usual haircut time but I knew that seeing a student it would be a learning experience and of course it would take some extra time. I have double crowns and it was a first for Matt to work with & double crowns will even stump seasoned barbers. I'd go back to see Matt at the school and to his future locations.

TERRIBLE rip off I enrolled in Surrey college for the unit…read moreclerk program in 2008 it was the biggest mistake of my entire young life the instructor for the unit clerk program was just a unit clerk I don't know what qualification she had to even administer this course it was about $5000 and their admissions team set everything up for me with BC student loans so I just signed on the dotted line when I started my course everything was so hectic and we had 27 girls in our class some had just graduated high school others came from professional jobs in other countries to make a Long story short within a few months of starting this program the class had dwindled down to only three students all of the other students had been removed from the class with prejudice just because the instructor did not like them they had even excepted students who knew absolutely no English so nobody got a refund they basically scammed 24 people out of thousands of dollars for no reason they need to be shut down and I see that they only offer three programs as of 2015 they must have made a lot of people very angry by offering the course letting them in taking their money and just kicking them out. It is very very upsetting. I have the transcripts myself to prove how well I was doing before the instructor pulled me aside and told me I wasnt going to 'make it' and should just leave. After I was resistant she just failed me. It was completely 100% unethical to The point that I did create a big fuss about it but never gained anything from it I still know several people from That course and it really messed up their lives now having the student loan debt for nothing. why didn't the school just deny the application because their English was too little or they weren't considered too young or they could've used any excuse but they didn't care they just wanted their money. What I don't understand why they would even let someone in to that program if they didn't think they could do the course at all. There were women in the course who had been pharacists in India, one a 50 year old legal assistant, all tossed aside because of there lack of english or mainly the instructor claimed these girls shouldnt be in this course at all because they were 'too young' or 'would never be able to be a unit clerk' based on the instructors personal judgements. is just not fair and was a huge waste of everyones time and money. I did complain to the PCTIA. I should have known better when I walked into the 'college' it was held in a makeshift trailer. Thanks for listening to me and Please I wouldnt wish my worst enemy to this pathetic unrecognized unprofessional place. It ruined my life. Now I work as an office assistant truly regretting the thousands of dollars I have to pay back for nothing. It also ate up all our self esteem. The studio is bright and new with large viewing windows and quality sprung floors. The common area is welcoming, bright and often filled with dancers working on homework, sharing meals and non booked studio space is open for dancers to practice. We have had several new families join the studio recently, who have shared how unique our studio environment is and are so impressed by the community of dancers and families and often stay to socialize. I have no hesitation in recommending Boogaloo.
