She captured beautiful moments of my daughter who was not happy to dress up or take photos! She can create a fantastical, fairylike, woodland atmosphere in her shoots. Since the shoot involved body paint it obviously had to be someone she was comfortable working with as many of those were fabric free. We met with Kat for a consultation and spent sever hours working on the details for the shoot. Time well spent in the quality of the final product. On shoot day we scheduled the entire day. Kat coordinated with a hair & makeup artist and a body paint artist - we were pleased with both. Kat's assistant also helped with the various housekeeping duties involved with staging and a half dozen wardrobe changes. Our shoot was smooth and well put together, her entire operation was coordinated and adapted to delays as necessary thru the day. Working with her for edits which required multiple iterations she was patient and very accomodating. Great quality takes time folks, it cannot be rushed so keep that in mind and factor into your photo projects. When quality and fantastic customer service is required this studio is the place to go.

Never used her services but I can say her Groupon was falsely advertised. She states over the phone…read moreshe charges a min of 600-2500 for family pictures and she just seemed un interested if you aren't planning to spend your life savings. I was contact recently regarding my review from Kat and she asked I remove I review. I am not removing my review. It is my point of view that 1. I spent $120 on Groupon for her services that never stated in the fine print that she would require and additional purchase with a min price of $600 with her Groupon ! Groupon refuses to give my money back so I now have a credit. 2. I feel a three star review now accurate assessment of the conversation and time she took explaining to me that she prefers to work with clients that can afford and are willing to spend and "invest" a significant amount of time and money! I explained I did not use her services as she described her services to not be a "good fit" for what I wanted. That is her right and I appreciate that thank you ! But I still feel you are worthy of an honest review which is three stars . Please don't ask me to change my view point ! Please don't harass me about my review ! I feel I was honest and accurate ! As an engaged member of the Silver Spring, MD community, I reached out to friends and neighbors about where to get a headshot. Shala was recommended by several folks and is here right Downtown Silver Spring. I was so nervous, I am not the type of person to sit down and look stoic in pictures, I don't really like pictures of me...I'm not even a fan of my wedding pictures because I smile and giggle way too much. Shala instantly noticed that and said "oh this is going to be fun" and that instantly put me at ease. She let me be myself during the shoot, we did have fun! I laughed a lot and she captured my personality in every picture. I love the pictures she took of me, they're professional yet not boring. I get a lot of compliments on the pictures and have recommended Shala to so many people. Shala is amazing!

Perhaps the best part of the process is obsessing over various "sneak peeks" of our photos via their Instagram page before delivery of the full album.
