Let me begin by saying that my husband arrived on our annual trip to the Big Island in severe and spasmodic back and hip pain. Renee at Blue Dragon took the time to call us back even when the spa had closed for the evening and immediately got us booked with Janet, who employed a variety of therapeutic, maiyafacial techniques to help my husband literally walk out of the spa upright for the first time in days. We returned at the end of the trip and Janet used more deep tissue and cupping methods that were extraordinary. Her attention and kindness and her incredible techniques were the best we've ever experienced! And she sent us off with links to stretches and a load of helpful information that we've since used at home. While my husband was getting truly therapeutic treatments, I went in to see if I could also benefit from some massage work to help with my tailbone discomfort. I saw Alexandra who was AMAZING! Literally the best massage I've had in my entire LIFE! I was ready to get on a long flight because my muscles were so relaxed and opened up. At one point I even dozed off, even though it was some deep tissue work because she was gentle yet completely effective. Honestly, Renee and her staff of expert masseuses/masseurs are astonishing. They all care, they all have amazing technique, and they're so accommodating! We will be returning this summer with a group and will send EVERYONE we know their way, and we'll be back to enjoy the amazing skill and supportive care the masseuses provide! Wonderful healing space for your mind and body. Renee and Beth were highly professional, skilled therapists so you're in for a treat. I got the massage/scrub/facial combo. It was excellent and a great way to pamper myself during my visit. The cost was super reasonable and probably what you'd pay for one treatment at any of the resorts. Take my tip and try them instead! I get all types of massages regularly and the one I received from Beth was such a relaxing and healing way to spend my birthday. She asked many questions about my goals and listened. She also did a great job of explaining the process and made me feel very comfortable during the treatment. Overall, a fantastic experience and definitely worth trying. Hidden gem! Renee was very responsive and it was easy to book an appointment on short notice, we did the whole thing by text message. She sent me a confirmation including a pic of the building so it was easy to find! Tia was terrific, I am a deep tissue massage snob and left feeling both restored and revitalized. I loved the meditative words at the start, that's not something I usually experience at a sports therapy massage. The massages are wow!!! I've had massages in a lot of places and this clearly was one of the best. They have no fixed list of what they are going to do. They listen to what you are looking for and customize the massage accordingly. My husband got the traditional Lomi Lomi with a Swedish combination and Renee did a fantastic job. During my facial Dawnn worked a little on my shoulders and neck, hands and feet while the face pack etc was drying. I would have liked some massage on my face though. This place is also one of the most reasonably priced in the area and they have a nice, clean, simple and a clean studio. Although this place is right above a restaurant, it's absolutely quiet and no disturbance whatsoever from downstairs. P.S. The facial here involves minimal massage on the face. They just use a lot of good products on your skin and let them do the trick. But if you are looking for a nice massage on the face and neck, that's not what you'll get. read more

My husband appreciates a firm, deep-tissue massage, and Renee meets the challenge! I prefer a lighter touch, and she adapts her style to my needs. The facility is a bit surprising,given its location above a restaurant, but there is no conflict as their business hours are completely different. Blue Dragon's decor is lovely, and you know you've entered a relaxing and restful space as soon you walk in the door. The Big Island's resorts feature numerous spas. We enjoyed 1.5 hours of indulgence- massage, body scrub with locally made products, mini facial treatment all at a fraction of the cost from the local resort spas. They accept credit cards, have a complete shower to use after your treatment, sell the body scrubs they use-- really a great place to treat your mind, body, and soul!
