On my first visit, I ordered guacamole, birria tacos and a strawberry margarita with a tajin rim. Hubby also had the birria tacos. My son ordered a kids burrito and taco kids meal and did not like it. The guacamole was chunky and needed salt, but good otherwise. The birria was good and the meat was seasoned very well. The consume was okay. The top shelf margaritas were two for $20 (National Margarita Day special), so hubby and I opted for this. The margaritas were strong, not bad, but not good! During the first visit, I found out that they will not take back food. We tried to send back the kids meal to replace for birria, since my son did not like it, but they would not remove it from our bill, so hubby and I shared our food with our son and took some of his to make it work out. On my next visit, I noticed that they actually have this disclaimer on their menu at the bottom, so keep in mind that you should not order ANYTHING (food or beverage), that you are uncertain about, because you will be stuck with it. I tried the quesadilla supreme and two tequila based drinks that I really liked. It had grapefruit juice, lime, salt and tajin with orange! Hubby ordered birria again and my son opted for the steak fajitas! The food was great! Everyone liked their food. Overall, I like this spot. I'm a Douglasville resident and I love patronizing our local businesses. Today, some friends and I decided to celebrate a birthday at this establishment. It's a very popular eatery for the residents. It's been quite a while since I've been here so I was pretty excited to go. Everyone didn't arrive at the same time but the hostess was gracious enough to seat us with a partial party. The remaining party arrived shortly thereafter. Our server greeted us promptly to take our drink order and things were going pretty good. We placed our drink orders; 3 different margaritas (jalapeño, frozen, and a henny margarita) and shortly after we placed our food orders. The food (taquitos, fajitas, Birria tacos, steak and cheese quesadilla) was pretty tasty. Unfortunately, I'm sad to say, things went downhill from there. One of the drinks (hennessey margarita) was overly sweet so of course we informed the server. The manager came over quickly. It was explained that the drink was not drinkable, as it was too sweet. We were told there was nothing she could do as they don't take drinks back, even though the drink wasn't made properly. The manager went to the bartender to ask him about the drink. When she returned, she went on to say the bartender at the time was short on lime and that's why the drink was overly sweet. With this explanation, she offered to squeeze more lime in the drink. This is absolutely unacceptable. We were not there to get free drinks. Just make the drink correctly. On top of this, they charged a gratuity but it wasn't notated anywhere on the receipt (see pic). Im a stickler for service and this establishment dropped the ball. This review is not meant to bad mouth the establishment. There is literally a love/hate relationship with this restaurant as sometimes the food is good and sometimes it's not so good. This is another occasion where it wasn't so good. Specifically the Quesa Birria Tacos and an order of chicken tacos and refried beans. The quesa birria tacos are made with some very under seasoned meat and a cheese that has the absolute worst texture. The only way I could eat it was to remove the meat and eat it separately from the taco smothered I hot sauce which by the way tasted like it was a day away from being bad. The consume for the birria had about a quarter inch of oil on top and zero flavor. It had lots of fillers like soggy rice, peas, carrots and corn...Ive never had a consume that contained those ingredients...wouldn't recommend. My father had the chicken tacos which appeared thrown together with the tortillas not well cooked and bland meat. He then tried the refried beans which tasted absolutely rancid. This was a to go order so there was no opportunity to rectify these issues as the restaurant closed. I would only come here for chips, salsa(maybe) and margaritas. The veterans discount was given only to 1 entree vs the entire bill. Called a month in advance to book a reservation for my mom's surprise 60th birthday party. I spoke with the manager, Javier three different times to confirm the date and time and people count. They did not have our reservations and made it seem like it was inconvenient for them to accommodate, Then put us in a table on the patio getting rained on. Come to find out Javier the manager was at the bar the entire time and did not come and apologize And was in regular clothes watching all of this unfold. My Five year-old niece slipped on the slick patio because we were put in the rain and he came over to let us know It's not the restaurant fault why she fell and proceeded to be extremely rude to my dad who was just concerned about kids falling on the slick patio floor.. The entire staff was so unwelcoming and rude. We will never set a foot back in that restaurant and don't recommend anyone else doing the same unless you wanna get treated extremely poorly. I ordered 3 ground beef tacos with rice and beans and the double shrimp and chicken fajitas with extra veggies instead of rice and beans. I was told my order would be ready 30 minutes later. When I arrived it still wasn't ready but came out hot and exactly like I ordered it about 15 minutes later (45 minutes total). Although the food I ordered looked good, it was just ok. Nothing special and nothing to set it apart from other standard Mexican restaurants...it was just blah. I had high hopes for this place as the first time we came years ago was a great experience. However this visit was the complete opposite. It was a mix of mediocre service, and decent food. For Mexican food in douglasville, this is pretty close to as good as it's getting. They have flat traditional tacos & they have the tacos we see in America. They've got some interesting dishes like the whole fish molcajete and the variety of non cheese sauces on their entrees. This visit I split the steak and shrimp entree with my boyfriend and it came with flour tortillas. We also had chips and salsa and it was too much food because we stole a few bites of my dad's fajitas too. the steak and shrimp entree alone was probably enough for 2 if you're not overeating. Most entrees come with two sides. We had rice and house salad although I wish we did guac salad. Their guac is good, not sure how fresh but it's flavorful.
