FIVE STARS I had a deep tissue massage with Pablo today, focusing on my traps and lower back as primary spots. Holy **** ! First of all, the place is lovely. I was greeted by Doug, who makes you feel at home with a very calm and positive vibe. He then introduced me to Pablo, the star of the show. Did I say star? Rockstar is more like it. When Pablo says deep tissue, he means it. At times it felt like I had two guys working on me. He uses his thighs, knees and shin at the same time as his hands, forearms and upper arm. I don't know how he does it so flawlessly - he's like an octopus! He treated the problem areas I mentioned while connecting the work with the rest of my body. You can visualize how he makes the muscle progression. He is incredibly effective. I STRONGLY recommend Blu Day Spa and Pablo in particular if you are serious about recovery - whether it's a "formal" injury or you are just sore from everyday soreness. The spa does a good job creating a relaxing atmosphere - matching music, aroma, decor. I appreciated both their professionalism (asking about sensitive spots, receptive to adjusting pressure) and how you didn't feel like you were getting rushed out the door so they could move on to the next client. We had a very nice massages during our vacation at the Blu Day Spa. Found it on the Yelp App and gave it a try. Glad we did! The one hour massage was top notch!! My female masseuse made me high and worked my tight contracted legs. Felt like a new man. One thing I did not care for was that the massage rooms are all divided up in one big room, divided by sheets. So someone could be getting their massage a few feet away on the other side of the curtain which is weird. They ask you to whisper which is very awkward and when they speak to you they whisper as well. I had a hard time actually hearing what my masseuse's questions. This was my first experience at Blu Day Spa and Vlad did an amazing job. He paid special attention to my back and shoulder area as requested. Vlad's massage technique was very well paced and he knew the exact amount of proper pressure to use in different areas of the body (I requested medium pressure). The amount of time Vlad spent on my arms was also a pleasant surprise. For someone still early in his tenure in the industry, he is a worthwhile experience. I took a chance on Blu Day Spa and booked a Swedish massage. Fortunately, I was lucky enough that Tony was my assigned therapist. He asked me the typical questions about areas that needed focus, but he also found issues I didn't know I had. It was amazing! I was so relaxed afterwards, I could barely walk. Before I review the spa, I must give Douglas a shoutout. He is the kindest, most hospitable person. He welcomed my boyfriend and I into the spa with open arms and provided us with tips on navigating Ptown. We were traveling with our large bag (since we had already checked out of our hotel room), and he offered us a place to keep it so that we did not have to walk around with it. Now onto the actual spa - I felt zen as soon as I stepped into the place, due to its cleanliness and general calming vibe. My boyfriend and I got the couples massage, and we both felt comfortable throughout the experience and extremely relaxed afterwards. Douglas offered us some mint tea he made from freshly picked herbs, which was just the cherry on top. My boyfriend and I will definitely visit Blu Say Spa every time we visit Ptown from here on out. My partner Marc hadn't had a professional massage in over 15 years so I was excited when he said yes to the opportunity. The owner Douglas not only supported our massage, he provided a lot of guidance for our visit itself. As a long time local he gave us lots of choices for food and activities. Doug is very passionate about the healing benefits of massage and paired us with his best therapists. Sheila worked on Marc for 90 minutes and when I walked out of my session, and met him after his massage, he looked visibly different, taller and younger. My therapist Vladimir, was not just a pretty face. He listened patiently before the session to get an understanding of what I needed and he was extremely respectful. During the massage, I noticed he had very warm hands which is a good sign. He used a pressure technique that encourages healing.There were some strokes that he used on my neck and calves that felt as if multiple therapists were working on me, so he's got great moves! We were immediately welcomed with big smiles, told to turn off our phones, sit, relax & drink some water. Both of our therapists (Kathleen & Andy) took the time to ask thorough questions about our issues & soreness. As other reviews have mentioned, the treatment rooms are divided by curtains. Sound does travel. But I focused on my own breath and was able to release into my own massage, which was both intense & relaxing. My friend also completely enjoyed her treatment with Andy. She has more of an injury than I and he worked very specifically & intensely. Everyone there seems to be top notch. We walked out feeling much much better than when we walked in. I was anxiously awaiting to relax with a good massage today. Unfortunately, it was anything but. The massage therapist pet me and when I asked for more pressure she responded that she "wasn't comfortable with that." Later, she rubbed my back really fast and caused friction. When I told her that it was too hot she said, "what you are feeling is toxins leaving your muscles." I tried to just relax and enjoy it- but the spa is set up so low budget that there is nothing more than a curtain separating you from the space next to you..
