Awesome concept, but this place has really gone downhill ... sloppy service, very average hair care and pretty unfriendly staff...

V Hair Salon Bondi - What I asked for

I then asked whether it would be possible to use the same extensions and have them dyed to my natural colour with some bright blonde bits going through. I also sent pictures for reference. I got told this was possible and I was hugely looking forward to having long hair again with my new more natural tones. Unfortunately there seemed to have been a miscommunication and instead of extensions that matched my colour with the blonde, I was shown extensions of one colour - ash (almost silvery green) extensions which had had toner put on them. I should have followed my instinct that they didn't look right. The hair dresser could obviously see I wasn't sure and did say we didn't have to go ahead, but as he had been so correct the previous time, I thought i should put my trust with him once again. Sadly, this time, it did not turn out the same. My hair, which had also been toned was gold, the extensions were silvery/green with no highlights through them. I paid the 180$ for the toner (I had already paid 180$ on my previous visit for the Cost of the extensions being reapplied). So, I had now paid 360$ for hair I wasn't happy with. I left for a few hours and decided to return and express my disappointment and to see if there was anything we could do to rectify the muddy-puddle hair I now had. Now, don't get me wrong, I understand the frustration from the hairdresser - he gave me an opt out and I still went ahead and got them put in. But at the end of the day, I wasn't happy and was asking for what could Be done, even apologising for the fact that I was complaining. Instead I got told that there was nothing I could do, he felt it was similar enough to the pictures, he has in fact already bumped off 80$ for the toner he had to put on my natural hair (to match these grim coloured extensions) and let me use the same extensions before to save me money. He then proceeded to tell me that if I use straighteners on my hair, this will brighten the toner, but there still wouldn't be any darker bits. I just felt really disappointed, not being listened to (I expressed also it felt more like an ombré than a ballige) and made to feel like I was there to get anything extra I could, when in fact I just wanted to see what could be done to make them more what I actually had asked for. So, although yes, he helped me save money by not having to buy whole new set of extensions, I have had to pay him 180$ for the horrendous toner in the first place, and now have an appointment booked for 115$ elsewhere to fix the mess my hair now is. Sadly, a customer has been lost in me.

In fact, you'd be suprised by the type of clientele - there are a lot more princesses who visit here than you expect.... but keep it on the downlow - they wouldn't want their secret getting out.... It's decor is super simple so don't expect to feel like you're going to a 5 star salon, but your haircut and colour will make you feel like you've had a 5 star experience. Perhaps the no frills is reflected by the pricing too. Considering how super expensive haircuts in Sydney can be, this is a place where you can and will get excellent value for money. They offer all hair services from cutting, colouring, blowdrying and straightening. The staff are very friendly and make you feel very comfortable. I wold highly recommend this salon and suggest that you don't judge a book by its cover. Prices start from $30...give them a buzz to make an appointment and to ge ta full listing of their prices.

She really knows her stuff and can't recommend her more highly. It was a big change from brown to Blonde (and included covering up some not so good home dye jobs). Helen gave me a colour I wanted that matched my skin tone well. Price was also really reasonable.

I first went to this salon, after my lovely brother treated me to a wash and blow dry at a time I…read morewas going through some tough personal traumas, to give me a lift and help make me feel better. This is in the area I grew up , but not close to where I live now. It was a random choice, a place not known by any of us and booked as an appointment was available and was close to where we were lunching that day. The salon is small and unpretentious, amongst some shops in possibly the less glamorous part of the suburb. From my view relies mainly on locals who would be steadfast loyal regulars, who aren't having to book months ahead and made to feel "lucky" just to have a seat nor put up with the show and pretence that may be common in other salons in the eastern suburbs. My hair has been described as difficult, long thick and if left, very frizzy. I've been to many different salons , and know a good blowdry when I get one . That to me , is one that lasts a few days despite sleep, humidity and time. I was completely rapt .. the service was provided by a young lady , Tanya and was simply without fault . In probably 25 years of having blow dries, treatments, cuts , and colours in places that have been well known , costing a bomb with all the bells and whistles , I've never had a better job on my hair than from here. I wanted for nothing, all the usual extras of a wonderful relaxing wash, a good coffee, and quality product was there. This stylist , managed to tame my unruley locks into a sleek and glamorous look without the use of a straightener . 4 days later, my hair looked as good as it did when I walked out of the salon. I commented to her that it's a skill to be able to straighten hair these days with just a good brush and dryer .. this she did .. in all my years only managed by maybe 2 others.. one famous and charging probably 5 times what I paid here. I have been back now about 3 times for a cut and a few colours/foils , all equally professional leaving me looking and feeling good, and more than happy with the result, and with hair? I'm a tough critic .. believe me I will be travelling the 20 mins now to this salon .. well worth it .

Yes, I just said magical forest. It sounds strange, but that's what makes this place stand out. The front window displayed little statues of native american indians, angels and assorted animals, as well dream catchers and crystals. If it weren't for the signage saying hair designs, you wouldn't think to come into this store looking to get your hair done at all. The salon is warm and inviting with plants, crystals and walls painted in an Aztec style. You really wouldn't get bored here like you would at a normal salon, having only a magazine to pass the time. Not only do they do all things hair, they also do wholistic healings such as sound therapy, kinesiology and other various intuitive counselling. Alongside the salon and giftware section, they have three healing rooms as well as a massive wig room with a separate compartment for real hair extensions. If you're into hair and are open to all types of spirituality, then you've come to the right place, it's two-in-one! Come in and have a cuppa.
