In the adjacent store, you will find an array of fresh cuts of pork. You name it, they have it: fresh made bacon, preservative-free scrapple, homemade brats, spiral carved hams, you name it! There's also a freezer full of specialty items, some made by local shops (for example, bacon and cheese pierogies), some are homemade (like soups and dips. My daughter bought a spiral honey baked ham for Easter dinner here. This is the leanest ham I ever seen, no fat at all. They gave you instructions for servingwhich could be serve at room temperature, slightly warmed up. The flavor of the meat was flavorful and made the meal. So guys. I was super bummed out about being forcibly relocated from London back to suburban Pennsylvania. The thing is that everything in the food universe is right at your finger tips in London. No matter what I'm craving to cook or have cooked for me, it's only a tube ride away. This definitely isn't the case in Bucks County, and I'm not gonna try to argue that in this review. I will, however, argue that sometimes a sleepy suburb will surprise you and some damn good smoked meat will come out of the woodwork. And, to be honest, it helped to dull some of the pain of having to move back home. My boyfriend and I drove by this place on our way to another food adventure (review forthcoming)...well, it wasn't really on the way. This place is actually two minutes down the road from the first place and we accidentally drove too far the first time. We turned around in this place's drive way and, upon seeing the cute pig sign and the closed down BBQ pit announcing that Saturday was the day for fresh prepared food, made a mental note to come back the next day. So we came back on Saturday, just moments before this place packed up. I'm so glad we did. Everyone who worked here was polite and helpful. We left having spent sixty bucks on two giant platters of smoked brisket and pulled pork, a pound and a half of the best bacon I've ever had, a half pound of hot Italian sausage and a 20 pack of hot dogs. Mikes review says it all. The smell alone is to die for. Ribs are awesome; pulled pork sandwich is a favorite. "A six napkin special" Mike describes the 3 sauces perfectly. hard to choose between them depends on personal taste. I now have to go back for the BB chicken after his recommendation! If I worked at this pit, I would be fired in less than 2 minutes. Why? I would be eating the food instead of selling it. Finally.....REAL BBQ in PA! An oasis in an otherwise baron BBQ wasteland. The pigs wings nearly brought me to tears as they touched my lips. The pulled pork was freaking fantastic and the ribs were decent. If you can smoke a tender and tasty brisket like Big Bob's does, that is your sign that you have arrived at a true BBQ destination. The mac n cheese was down home and down right delicious. Oh...and if you like sauce on everything - BB's has perfected 3 different ones. If the pit wasn't so hot, I would have hugged it and I would camp there if they would let me. This is for the retail store - which I Love. Love. Love. The employees are all fabulous. Helpful but not pushy (and very patient!). The bacon is phenomenal. The pork is phenomenal. The ham. The many salads (broccoli, potato, coleslaw). They also have pulled pork. Brats. Excellent hot sausage. I mean, honestly, we haven't had anything there that we haven't loved. Oh - they also sell long rolls that beat Amoroso rolls and I never thought I'd find anything better than Amoroso. If you make your own pulled pork, these rolls soak up the BBQ sauce yet still remain buttery and soft without falling apart. ALSO - they have big giant smoked bones for dogs for two dollars EACH. Not per pound. You'd pay 15+ for these bones in a pet store. They have bakery treats that vary but if you find any cinnamon rolls with thick icing - BUY THEM. (You can also call and order them -even if it's only one). These are the BEST ROLLS I've ever ever ever had. I'm quite sad it took me so long to discover this place, but the upside is we did and it is WONDERFUL. Can't recommend enough!!! read more

Best Bacon -hands down pork cutlets are fresh, pink and tasty ground pork - nothing fresher to make lettuce wraps Thai style rolls are fresh baked and make great breakfast sandwiches (the yellow-y egg-y ones) hot and sweet sausage-for amazing stuffing or grillers all beef hot dogs are pretty much exactly like Nathan's dogs, so good. REAL, REAL, BBQ! First time coming here a few weeks back and I made the mistake of showing up at 3:00. There was no pulled pork left and only a little brisket. I did pick up a 1/2 rack of pork ribs and they were dynamite. Slaw just so-so (I am hard - pressed to find a good homemade slaw in PA). Sauce was solid, especially the "spicy" chipotle sauce. Price a tad high (ribs were $14). Next time I have to get here by noon. Cashier guys was nice; the lady taking orders, not so much. Will come back again soon! read more

If you ever happen your way up Rt 113 on a Saturday afternoon, past Souderton and Silverdale you'll find the village of Blooming Glenn and the best BBQ (other than When Pigs Fly in Dover, DE) this side of VIrginia. I stopped there yesterday because I was told it was good and I wasn't disappointed. In fact, the friend who told me about it lied. It wasn't good, it was outstanding. Pulled pork BBQ, Texas beef BBQ, half and full chickens, brisket, half and full rack of baby back ribs and one strange menu item homemade BBQ hot dogs. I chose a medium takeout of the pulled pork as well as a fullchicken, Sweet mother of God, they piled on enough pulled pork to feed 10 people. There must have been 3 lbs of pulled pork in the takeout container. They offer NC sauce, traditional and cajun. I took 3 of each. I got home and tried the pork with the NC sauce...sweet, spicy with a nice pungent punch of vinegar. My next sandwich was with the traditional....spicy, rich and carmelized tomato flavors mixed with the most tender pulled pork I have ever had. My wife tried the the traditional and then the cajun. She enjoyed them both but said she would pass on the Cajun if offered again. The BBQ chicken...oh that unbelievable BBQ chicken literally fell off the bones as soon as I took it out of the foil container. The chicken was beautifully smoked, the moist smoky meat literally melting in my mouth. The price was also incredible. The pulled pork was only $27.00 (considering there was at least 3 lbs of meat in the container it was beyond a bargain) and the whole chicken was $5.50. I could have fed a family of 10 with all the food I brought home. The service was fantastic and friendly. Everyone behind the tables had a smile and a friendly hello to every customer. Again, if you ever have a lazy saturday when you're bored or looking for something new, try driving out to Blooming Glenn and have the best BBQ in the area. FYI: You can also order sandwiches of any of the menu items (including the ribs as they pull it from the bones) for less than a value meal at Burger King or McDonalds. read more

I have had the pork and brisket sandwiches for years though with competition in the area I have since gone elsewhere. Though I stopped by the other day and ordered up there ribs from the Saturday roadside smoker and it was horrible. Rub was somewhat good but the meat was dry as heck. Might want to stick to pork/brisket when coming here hopefully they will not slip on the pork/brisket. As for me I might stop here again though not anytime soon. I try to reserve 5 stars for the best of the best and Blooming Glen deserves all 5 for their pulled pork. I have had several roasted pigs from here and they were all excellent. I have not had any of their other food so I can't say myself but I have heard their other foods are good also. But they have smaller sizes of pork available if you don't need an entire pig. A very easy to make meal most people will like. All you need to do is heat up the pork and put out some rolls and bbq sauce. read more

Ran a pig roast for a friend yesterday. It took a few months to plan and get to the actual event. All through the process Pene Bryant was so kind and patient after I made change after change, question after question. Great professional. When everything came for set up Kristi did everything for us, it was amazing. She let us concentrate on everything else she got food to our guests. Welp, been going here before yelp was born. Always loved the sausages and most of the chicken plates. And the service is always good (except for grumpy old Bob, lol) Portions use to be huge, now they seem smaller. Would luv to see the good ol' days with monster portions. Went there this past Sat. Got a rack of babyback ribs and a pulled pork and a texas bbq (brisket) sandwich plus 2 sides, 3 drinks $47 plus for the 3 of us. The brisket was really good and along with their sauces definitely worth 4 stars. As for the rest...btw, we all get something different and share.. I was so looking forward to the ribs but the ribs were wrapped in plastic and were overcooked (burnt/dried out ends) and cold in the center! I know they're thinking the wrap will prevent dryout but they need to take it out of the plastic/customer and serve it right. They should be coming off the smoker for walk up retail customers, period. when you try and pull off the catering thing and precook everything too far in advance and wrap it and store it, you lose a lot of quality/flavor and most of all- freshness. And that's all Bob's fault. I luv ya Big Bob but ya gotta stop cutting corners. Serve it upon butcher's paper for us walk up customers!! On to the sandwich... The pulled pork was really dried out. I don't know why they don't just add or seep in more juices. Maybe it was because they served it from the top instead of mixing it from the bottom, probably just a rookie server mistake, especially if sits there outside in a pan all day, anyway was pretty disappointed. Had to put a ton of sauce to get it down. The rolls were good for sopping up the wonderful sauces. Still love the slaws. Would love to see juicier bigger fatter St Louie ribs and big beef Texas ribs, deer ribs, It's funny a place called Big Bob's only serves little babyback ribs!! I worked in Texas for a few weeks last year and BBQ is damn serious out there. And they never serve it "sauced up." But they got all the self serve sauces you could want. So when I lived here BBQ from Bob's and a few other places were my norm. THEIR SATURDAY OUTDOOR PIT IS BBQ !! Better than a fancy steakhouse dinner. The brisket is GREAT - smokey flavor and moist. Ribs are SUPER TENDER, full of meat like no other rib you ever had and great FLAVOR. The Pig Wings are a heavenly chunk of pork smoked and coated with BBQ sauce just right. Didn't touch the mac-n-cheese, because I didnt want to eat it all at once and pass out, as it looked way too good to just have a few forkfuls of. Do yourself a favor and give this place a shot. Their food is absolutely incredible. I went there for the first time on April 26th this year and have been back every week since, usually with guests who find themselves equally as impressed. I've tried just about everything on the menu, with the exception of the chicken, but that is mainly because I am hopelessly addicted to the brisket. The brisket is absolutely the best I have ever had. They thin slice it and soak it in some kind of stock (not sure if chicken, beef or veggie) to keep it moist. It doesn't make you feel like you have to struggle to swallow it from lack of moisture like many bbq places' brisket does. The pulled pork is great, and don't even get me started on their ribs. The one unique thing they have that you will not be able to find elsewhere in the surrounding areas is pig wings. They are cut from the leg of the pig and are eaten like a rib. These are absolutely fantastic. The meat just falls right off the bone. It might take a little bit of courage being we don't normally eat this part of the pig up here, but trust me, when you get that first taste, you will be blown away. Now, I will say there are three things I would change about this place. First, more seating. They only have two little tables and a bench to sit at, which makes for a lot of people eating in their cars or taking the food home. Some people even bring their own chairs from home. Second, more hours! They are only open from 10am to 4pm on Saturdays. Having to go a whole week to fulfill my constant craving for this food is tough! Heck, I don't know what I am going to do all winter without them. Last, I'd like to see maybe a weekly special. For instance, maybe a twist on something they already make... like taking their already amazing mac n cheese and adding bacon to it. I think that would put it absolutely over the top. All in all, this is the best bbq that you are going to find north of the mason-dixon line and maybe even a couple hundred miles south. I would honestly drive a couple of hours if I had to in order to get this food. Oh, and while you are there, don't forget to stop in the store as well.
