Originally, in April, I ordered a bouquet of peony's from this flower shop to give my future daughter in law at her bridal shower and I was pleased with the bouquet and the attention to detail. I decided to reach out to the same florist to give her another opportunity to showcase her talents. It started with my speaking with the owner's sister who advised I email the specifics of what I wanted for a rehearsal dinner I was hosting. As requested, I emailed the florist immediately after hanging up with owner's sister and assumed I would hear back by close of business day. When I didn't hear back, I called on Friday morning and was told by the owner that she left me a voicemail that morning. When I told her I had not received a voicemail from her and I reiterated my cell phone number to be sure she had the correct number, she indicated her sister wrote down the wrong number (despite my number also being in the email I sent on Thursday) and as a result she left a voicemail for me at the incorrect phone number. I was told, as if I should know, that it is prom season and she is very busy but she will email an estimate on Monday morning. On Monday afternoon after not receiving the estimate in the morning, I telephoned the floral shop only to be told that they are again very busy preparing for the USC prom (on Monday really?) and that she would email the estimate when she got home in evening. Don't buy those old pre-made arrangements from the grocery store or the overpriced stingy bunch of flowers from other places. Come here- the service is great and the price is very reasonable. Without realizing it, we walked in 5 minutes before closing time. Regardless, the owner greeted us warmly and said she would be happy to help us. I told her I didn't know anything about flowers, so she asked for a price range and the proceeded to select and arrange a fresh bouquet. Their message made it very clear that they were not excepting any more deliveries but even more clear do not bother stopping in to try to pick up anything. You cannot beat the service here. When students at the elementary school up the street come in wanting flowers for their teachers, she will provide them with the best for only $1 or $2. So incredibly disappointed with the 'service' I received at Blooming Dahlia last month!! I actually felt sick to my stomach after leaving the store because the florist (who I believe was the owner) was so nasty... basically kicking me out, waving goodbye with one hand (as if quaking like a duck!) and rudely blurting out "bye, bye" in a mean tone!... and in front of my 17 year old daughter who was actually shocked by the florist's behavior. Are you kidding me?!?! I had pre-ordered a presentation bouquet a few days prior for my 12 year old who was performing the lead role in the Nutcracker that Sunday... one dozen esperanza roses at $4 each. I went to Blooming Dahlia because I wanted something extra special for the bouquet that would be presented to her onstage during the bows. Though the bouquet was not ready when my older daughter and I stopped by the store in between Saturday performances, I did not complain. When I noticed the florist wrapping the roses in light brown tissue paper (that actually looked like a brown paper bag), I asked if they had any pink or white tissue paper that they could use instead. The florist was visibly annoyed by my request but did look to see if she had any other colors (which they did not). Okay, I thought, I can simply rewrap the roses with pretty tissue paper when I get home. But, when she started ringing up my order at $5 per rose (versus her original quote of $4 each), I decided not to purchase the bouquet. Why would I pay such a high price for roses that were nice but certainly not extra special and that I would have to go home unwrap and rewrap in my own tissue paper?! I actually apologized to her and said thank you, but I have decided not to purchase the bouquet (which, by the way, was still not completely arranged and wrapped). She looked at me and asked, "so you are not taking the bouquet?" and I replied, "no, I'm sorry. It's not what I was looking for, but thank you". And that's when she rudely waved me and my daughter out of the shop. Needless to say, I will NOT be returning to the Blooming Dahlia... and I will NOT hesitate to share my unfortunate experience with others. Planning a wedding and all that comes with it can be a momentous task for a bride. After contacting other businesses in the area, I settled on a meeting with The Blooming Dahlia. I walked out of the store feeling confident and truly pleased with my decision to have Meilssa and her team at the Blooming Dahlia be our florist. My next meeting with her was most impressive. I walked in to see a small sample for the table flowers she had created simply based on our meeting and some photos I had shown her. I had not one change to be made to it, it was perfect. Moving on to the day of the wedding, Melissa and her staff arranged everything with my venue manager. It was such a relief to have one large part of my reception and ceremony taken care of by her staff. She and her staff were professional and passionate about the business and the proof was undeniably in the product.
