Horrible experience!! Went for a consultation to ensure Caitlin knew what she was doing and understood I wanted blonde hi-lights/lo lights to brighten my color. I left with the ugliest mouse/ashy color imaginable. She used a toner to lighten my hair, it was the complete opposite of what we had discussed in the consultation!! Instead of trying to make it right, the owner blamed the F-up on the condition of my hair. Easy way out, right. Inexperienced stylist wanting to be a "Master Stylist" is what this salon offers. Unprofessional, inexperienced and a manager that clearly has no desire to fix the issue, instead dismisses you as quickly as she can to avoid "owning" that the people you hire aren't that great. As a previous lifetime blonde who had transitioned to natural gray and dirty brown hair during the pandemic I was hesitant to think how adding some color back to the hot mess of the hair that I've always loved would turn out. I booked with Madison first with a consult then official day of color. While I was nervous she was not and I entrusted myself to her. The result was fantastic, age appropriate and better than I expected! As many times I have had my hair done I've had more disappointing than pleasing this in fact would be the first time I've been pleased while not really knowing the outcome. Sure you can get a stylist who doesn't blow dry you right or didn't do exactly what you thought they would do, the lost in translation incident but not this time for me. If you are looking to move in the direction of gray hair without looking old Madison helped me do that and I highly recommend her. Overall the salon is pleasant and have great accessories in the reception area etc. Owner greeted me both times and the place was busy with ladies getting their hair done. I am basing my rating of PowerCuts on my massage experience as I have never had any other services here. They are a Paul Mitchell Salon. The ambiance is nice, the Salon/Spa is in an old cottage in Downtown Aiken. The decor is what you would expect. The downside of this beautiful old cottage is the noise factor. I could hear the washer and dryer running, the phone ringing, clients and stylists talking all the way through my massage. The Massage therapist did a nice job, but was a bit chatty. I am still trying to decide how I feel about someone trying to carry on a conversation with me during a massage. The table on which my massage was conducted was nice as it was heated. The therapist used a peppermint oil which smelled very nice, but was not overwhelming. She did a pretty good job focusing on the areas that I specified. After my massage I was given a complimentary hand paraffin treatment which made my hands so soft, a nice treat during the winter. I am going to give PowerCuts 3 stars because I have had better massages, and the outside noises were very distracting. read more

Went to see Caitlyn again this morning (after a couple months). Needed my hair trimmed and shaped up. Mostly to get some weight off because it's so thick and needed some ooompf desperately!. Told her what I wanted and got exactly what I asked for...light-flowy and manageable as well as stylish and sassed up. This is the only salon I will ever go to ever again! All of the stylists, including the owner Brenda, are always so inviting and sweet! Kate is the bomb! I got my hair done a few weeks ago and when she greeted me she offered me make me a cup of coffee (I didn't have mine that morning so it was a blessing!) This girl can transform some hair!!! Got a Brazilian there a few days ago & it was a pretty botched job. The wax was dangerously hot when we started and her technique was off (used a roller, did huge patches of skin at once, the wax didn't come off 1/2 the time, would wax the same spot OVER & OVER & OVER) I'm a frequent waxer and it usually takes 25 min or less to get through a wax, but this took an hour. Still had a bunch of hair leftover when she was done. Never got a mirror to check before she left the room, but I was so relieved to get the hell off that table. Ironically the most expensive yet worse wax I've ever gotten. read more

It depends on which therapist you get and what kind of massage you prefer. I like more of a deep tissue massage and I am not a big fan of stretching techniques. Cheryl was focused more on moving my arms and legs in awkward positions and stretching my muscles which I was not a fan of. Crystal gives more of a deep tissue massage that is a great rub down. read more

I currently live in Houston, TX, but was visiting Aiken and decided to get my hair cut at the salon my sister uses, Powercuts. I had a wonderful experience. The customer service was outstanding. Everyone was friendly and inviting. Katelyn (sp?) was my stylist and did an amazing job. It's one of the best hair cuts I've had in some time. I have very thick hair and a lot of hair and she knew how to texturize it perfectly. She also gave me a lot of tips on how to style a quick everyday do. Now back in Houston, I have received several compliments on my haircut and I tell people they'll just have to go to Powercuts in Aiken. I visit Aiken once or twice a year and will definitely save my salon appointments for Powercuts. read more

Love Love Love Powercuts! Their staff is friendly and very skilled, I've had my hair done by a couple different stylists (as well as brow waxes) and it is by far not the easiest hair to deal with being ethnic and extremely curly and frizzy. Kate and Caitlyn have both done a fabulous job on it even when it's a little more than "feral" looking. Not to mention the Paul Mitchell products are fantastic, the atmosphere is adorable and the location is perfect right in downtown Aiken! The prices are more than fair for the quality!!! read more
