Food **** service - This is an awkward review of such a celebrated restaurant. My whole company just left this restaurant utterly confused. How could a restaurant that deliver such playful food offer such a terrible experience? Can't say much about the food other that it's an experience, playful and curious. Beautifully laid out. The ambiance is ok. There's not a feeling of a "crowd" people clearly come here for a one-off experience. The sad part is that I leave this restaurant tainted by the terrible service. And I've lived in nyc, so my bar is high. The head server thinks he's funny. As in, he's clearly enjoying making fun of people. Everything we answered a question he had a snarky comeback. At first we thought we'd just ignore him - but seriously those comments just kept coming. Plates were cleaned while guests were still eating. Wine pairing arrived without asking clearly what we wanted. Coffee took 20 min to arrive. No one asked us if we were happy with the food. No one cared really. Here's the strangest bit of all; No explanation was given to what we were eating. As much as I can appreciate delivering a concept. Giving us a QR code to google a menu that had almost no detail about what we ate is utterly unsatisfying. This place has changed format so any review before 2023 will be misleading. Based on photos, the aspiration of the food is similar. It's the now common local source, farm to table, blah blah. What's different is the no menu, tasting menu--which is what intrigued us enough to try it for one of our precious few dinners while visiting Malmö. We liked the "you don't know what's next" omakase format, but we don't generally like wine pairings and did not appreciate the "no wine list--trust me" approach. When I asked for a bottle of white I had no idea whether the server would bring Gallo swill or a $1K Montrachet (it turned out to be an average Gruner Veltliner--but that wasn't revealed until the bill). And the server was clearly annoyed that we declined the pairings. The food was good but the plating-style dated. Our first course was a genuine "you would never guess what it was" surprise (that we loved). Second was an odd "soup" with an egg yolk over diced purple potatoes in an herby green broth. Next were straightforward Haddock, Venison tartar, and grilled Venison dishes that were fine, good and very-good, respectively. Dinner closed with two deserts, although the penultimate course may have been intended as a cheese course. The menu is provided via a QR code when you pay. The setting is in a rustic building lake-side in one of Malmo's many parks. Overall it was a somewhat unique experience that was appropriately priced but we wouldn't go back. read more

I loved the concept of this restaurant. The decor is very contemporary and the meals are beautifully arranged in a sort of nature theme. There is one menu for the night and you can choose between 3 or more courses. The ingredients are also seasonal. This sort of concept allows for the restaurant to serve high quality, delicious food that is a really reasonable price. Also, the set menu takes the pressure off from having to choose something awesome! Everything is fantastic. The servers do not inform you of what you are eating before you eat it, but you are welcome to ask after! I was so much more engaged in experiencing the flavors in the food and enjoying it. It was also fun to see if I was right! I would recommend this restaurant in a heartbeat and can't wait to go back again soon! read more

Bloom in the Park has a great location in a park overlooking the fairly large pond. it is perhaps best in summer but we were there in winter (more on that later on) but it was also nice to look at the all empty, snow-covered, park. I knew what to expect so it was no surprise that there is no menu as such but that they rather serve a tasting menu. The only questions where if we had an allergies or things we do not eat. The option then was whether to have a wine package or not and we did go for the wine package as well. The food was imaginative and it was clear that some thought had gone into all the dishes. I did however feel that the dishes were often over complicated - they should keep things simpler and not mix as much as they did. A few of the dishes were also in may taste not great and one of those I did not even finish and the waiter then inquired if I did not like it - I explained I did not really like it. The surprise then was that he was offended and started arguing with me whether I was right to not like it? I then had to go into the details of the composition and explain why I thought they seasoned it wrong. Very strange to me but I had been warned about some of the staff being a bit eccentric. Most of the dishes were however good and the wine package was very generous and the wines did fit well with the food. For the price paid I would however expect slightly better food and more attentive service. One annoyance was also the fact that the bathrooms were almost the same temperature as outside (which meant substantially below zero). All in all it is still one of the more interesting dining experiences in Malmö. read more

Bloom in the Park was one of the most personally engaging restaurant experiences I've ever had. Dining on a slow Monday definitely helped enhance the truly interactive service we received. I can see how some people could be put off by the service, they play it very aloof. They don't describe the food to you before you eat it. They allow you to enjoy each dish without any preconceptions. It could be off putting for some, but we enjoyed the adventure. We also found they were willing to divulge a large amount of information with a little prying. I suggest the 5 course dinner with the wine paring. It is a little pricey. But the quality of the food was unbeatable. The combination of modern techniques and deep robust flavors made the meal interesting and delicious. I only wish that they provided a menu to take home after the meal. It would have been nice to know a few more of their secrets! read more

2nd best meal I've had to date (just ahead of Noma in Copenhagen, and just behind e' by Jose Andres in Las Vegas). Which is saying quite a lot, unfortunately I am too lazy to review most of them. You've likely heard that they don't have menus and take quite a bit of pleasure in not telling you precisely what you are eating. You can of course twist your server's arm once you have tried each dish. Don't be surprised if something arrives in a beaker as the dry ice wafts. The setting even on a cold day is very nice perched on the edge of the lake. What made this special for me among many fine restaurants was the attention to detail and lack of pretension. It wasn't a meal where the chef was trying crazy things to shock diners but you could see a lot of thought was put into how to present or prepare ingredients differently and the wine pairings were superb - both nicely matched and obscure. The icing on the event for me was that for what you get, great food, incredible presentation and charming service, the price was reasonable. Many Michelin starred restaurants would try to add a zero to the price of a meal like this. Of the three acclaimed restaurants I tried in the same week, this was by far the best...so much so that I tried going again and backing out of another commitment two days later. It wasn't meant to be, so I'll wait for the next trip. read more

Well. There are no words to describe the experience. One simply must go. They courteously removed dairy from my meal and it was just as exquisite. Every dish ties back to the season and locality. Each course was preceded by a hint of what was to come which I found delightful. Go and enjoy the food, the views of the pond, and the company. read more

Afternoon tea was above my expectations. The taste was both nice and varied, although the first serving of tea was a bit too bitter for my taste (had to sweeten it, which I normally do not do). The ambiance was truly wonderful with live music and a minimalistic and futuristic interior design. read more
