I really want to thank Barry and his staff for the incredible experience I had at My Friends Flower Shop. Barry was kind, attentive, and prompt. My husband and I live in LA and I was only able to commute out to San Diego a few times before the actual wedding. My mother and I had taken a trip to SD find a local flower shop within a certain proximity to our venue a few weeks leading up to the wedding. There were a multitude of florists around the area and every single one I walked into all told me to come back for a consultation. It was very frustrating considering I only needed a bouquet and corsages for moms and grandmas, no centerpieces, no decor related flowers. I even had a couple of picture references, and was not looking for anything specific or "special". Just some nice fresh flowers for the day. I had explained my situation to all of the other florists and even let them know we do not live locally, we were just in town for the day and the wedding was about a month out. I was getting shot down left and right. I felt absolutely defeated at this point, I felt like I was not being listened to and felt as if no one wanted to "deal with me". I at that point had given up. While we were walking back to the parking structure we took a wrong turn and stumbled across My Friend's Flower Shop. Feeling defeated from the day I hesitantly walked in and there was a lot going on. There were flowers everywhere (duh) boxes, and employees actually working (the other shops had their employees just standing around, little to no customer interaction)! I should also mention this happened to be the week leading up to Mothers Day weekend. Barry had looked up to acknowledge me and in my head I felt as if I was going to be an inconvenience with all the commotion going on. He stopped and dropped everything he was doing to come and talk to me. I had let him know my situation and although our conversation was brief it was a great comfort to finally be able to talk to someone and get some useful information. I showed him a couple of picture references and we continued our conversation and business via email/phone conversation . He was very understanding. I felt at ease and left the creativity in his hands! Nothing about the process felt pushy, rushed, or indefinite. You can tell that he is passionate about his business and when you love what you do that energy will carry over on to your customers. The flowers were stunning, I could not stop smelling them because they were so incredibly fragrant! The corsages were equally as beautiful and he even sent over a few "hairpin" pieces which made the day even more special for my cousins who got to wear them (pictures to come). As a small business owner I can honestly say supporting your local business can really make a difference. Thank you Barry and staff. You guys contributed to a day I will never forget, thank you for your kindness, consideration, and decadent taste. I will continue referring your business to everyone and anyone I know! I will most definitely be back to update my review when we get our professional pictures back. Many thanks again !
