We got a few really nice photos and overall had a good experience. He also made us a little video that we weren't expecting, which was a nice extra. I do wish there had just been a little more direction with the kids. With two little ones, it was hard to get them to smile and look at the camera while also trying to do the same myself. He tried calling their names to get their attention, but that doesn't always work with little kids, so I was hoping for a little more playful interaction to help get natural smiles. I think I was just expecting more from someone who specializes in family photography. We did some walking shots that I think turned out the best, and I wish we had done more photos like that. We were hoping for more of those natural, candid moments versus just the posed ones. We probably could have communicated that better beforehand, but I was also hoping to trust him to help guide us and capture how we truly are as a family. Overall, we got some photos we really liked and appreciated the thoughtful video. With a little more interaction and direction with the kids, I think it could have been an even better experience!

I can not say enough good things about Jennifer Jacobson Photography. My husband and I searched…read morehigh and low in the bay area for a photographer who could meet our desired standards. We were amazed at the impressive images on Jen's website and couldn't wait for her to photograph our children. We have done 3 sessions with Jen (a newborn session with our son and then again with our daughter, and most recently a toddler session with both kids). Each time I receive the pictures from the shoot, my breath is absolutely taken away by the beauty and simplicity of the images. She manages to capture not only my children's darling faces, but their little personalities as well. The natural smiles, the long eyelashes, the rascally looks....all of the things you could never capture in a forced, posed, photograph. Her editing and lighting are delicious as well. With my daughter, we were privileged to have Jen come to the hospital just hours after I had given birth. Even in that sterile setting, she was able to capture the quiet beauty of our new baby girl meeting the world, and us for the first time. I will always treasure those images, even the ones I thought I would hate because of my "I just gave birth" appearance. We could not have made a better choice in asking her to come to the hospital. In our most recent shoot, Jen was able to get our highly energetic 5 year old to just be himself, rather then shooting a forced "cheese" smile every time he looked at her. And, to my surprise, she somehow managed to capture images of the sibling bond that is just beginning to form in our little ones. If you are on the fence about hiring a photographer in the bay area, my advice is to STOP hesitating and call Jen TODAY! You will NOT regret your investment and your decision to invite such a talented artist to capture your family naturally and beautifully! Thanks again Jen! We'll be calling you again in the future! =)
