Got a keratin treatment from Val and had a lovely experience with her. Looking forward to going back

I requested to match my LIGHT brown hair color with existing gold highlights. I specifically warned and asked about not making the color a dark brown color since my hair takes color quickly. After getting the exact opposite and finding uncolored grays left underneath to boot, I contacted the owner who at first didn't respond at all. Then when I contacted a second time said that the attached color is light brown/dark blonde and that this is what I asked for. She also claims to be chemist in the medical field and says that the attached is LIGHT brown/dark blonde and that I'm imagining that it's not darkest brown of all possibly a level 4 or 5. I guess the customer is always wrong at "Blondie's" and I guess I don't know what light brown/dark blonde is despite 20+ years of coloring my hair at other salons. She ruined my hair color and gave no recourse so now I have to pay over $300 for color correction at a reputable salon. Hope this helps whomever is considering. read more

What a wonderful experience! I arrived for my appointment and I was immediately greeted and taken care of. Val was my hairdresser and made me instantly feel like a member of "the family." We had a consultation before we started my haircut. I have naturally curly hair and I am very particular about how it is cut. The cut was beautiful, the styling was great, the hair product advice was on point. Super refreshing environment and people. I will definitely be returning! read more

Friendly professional and nice staff. Valerie cut my hair the way I wanted it, and she gave me lots of advice on how to protect it in the future. Definitely going back! read more

VAL IS THE BEST HAIR STYLIST AND COLORIST IN NYC hands down. Not only is she a professional, she listens to your wants while addressing your hair's needs... I came to Val with a grown out henna roots and grays, requesting a dark to light ombre. For any other stylist/colorist, this job would have been impossible. But not for Val she took my idea and ran with it. Also, telling me the truth about how the colors would come out, because of the henna. I appreciated her honesty. To say the least she did an amazing job! My hair came out silky with no bleach damage. She trimmed my hair and gave it long layers without me asking. Since I've gone back to her new location 7 weeks later and the results were even better!! (See pics) the products she uses are great my color didn't fade after being in salt water, pool water or extreme sun (went on vacay right after). She is the ONLY PERSON I will trust to color, style and cut my hair. And if u want your hair to come out exactly how you want it then Vals Studio is the place to go! read more

Amazing hairdresser Valerie is one of a kind! Great service. Make an appointment, You will walk out feeling and looking your best.

Blondie Salon deserves 10 stars! Another 10 stars to stylist Diane and owner Val. Needed help because I got a bad haircut 5 weeks ago and I was desperate. Looked for a salon near my home and I had seen their reviews here at Yelp, so I decided to take a chance. Told my story to Val over the phone when I did the appointment and she said they will take care of me. Next day when I arrived I was introduced to Diane and she did her magic. Diane took the time to talk to me and went to work. The result was a easy to take care cut that works with my hair texture and the shape of my face. I love it! Definitely will be back! read more

Val's Studio is the epitome of what the new modern hair stylist is and should be. Valerie is a true professional and a craftsman at her trade. I normally don't accompany my wife to hair stylists appointments (usually boring and uncomfortable) but I went with her recently and saw first hand how Valerie first "consulted" with my wife - she advised her to what would look best and the best part was that she gave her an accurate time as to how long it would take. I have heard stories of how other hairstylists who say "2 hours - that's it" and the client stays there all day. Valerie told my wife the haircut and styling would take 1 hour. -- 60 minutes later my wife's long hair (length was up to her waist), was cut to her shoulder and styled to my wife's specifications. I have to admit, I was not looking forward to seeing my wife's hair being cut - HOWEVER, Valerie did a tremendous job! I Love it!! She did an amazing job!! And her price was incredibly reasonable compared to those over-priced salons in this area!! Needless to say, Valerie is now my wife's stylist and she could not be happier. My wife used to go to Drybar - which coincidentally is right next door to Val's Studio - But I always used to hear her complain about the atmosphere (stylists all looked unhappy & were constantly bitching & complaining), the temperature was hideously hot (this Saturday we passed by there and instead of having the air conditioner on, they just had the door open), and there was no "personal service". At Val's studio, Valerie gets to know her clients, makes them feel like family, the air-conditioning is comfortable and you are made to feel like a VIP from the moment you step in! I highly recommend Val's Studio to anyone that is looking for not only a great haircut or a stylist BUT is looking for the specialized VIP service. I suggest that instead of being just another number or waiting around in muggy hot areas hoping to be next in one of those fast Hair bars... walk over to Val's studio and be treated like you should be treated. Soon Valerie has advised me that she will have a barber at the studio to take care of the men! I cannot wait! Because finally I have found a place where my wife and I can both be pampered at the same time!! read more

The only girl I ever let touch my hair. Val is a dream come true my curls are always perfect. I retired the Dominican salons since meeting Val as she truly has magical hands. When she was busy recently I had someone do my hair and the outcome was disastrous. I won't ever cheat on my hairstylist again. read more

Val is wonderful!! She's professional, personable, and great at what she does. I bought a groupon for full head of highlights & cut. She fit me in right before the holiday weekend. The studio is neat and organized. Val consulted with me beforehand and really asked questions to be sure she knew what I wanted. I have short hair and she hand painted the back, which turned out very nice. I was her last appointment of the day and she took time to make sure the color & cut was perfect. I never felt rushed. The love the cut and get compliments all the time. read more

I have been a loyal client to Valerie for many years and I was so excited when she told me she was opening her own studio.
