Very unprofessional. In the end, project was unfinished after 2 long years. Not only it took forever, the cost had sky rocketed. I was very disappointed. Funny thing was I hired another guy and he was able to get a lot done within a fraction of time. This explains BackBone's commitment which they lack of. Not recommended. Also I don't know why Yelp hid 2 other negative comments about this company. BB is bad! Don't bother!

One thing I can say for all interested parties is - Buyers Beware…read more If you are reading this, it is because you might be interested in having this company help you design a website, develop full stack from ground-up, create a customized content management system or maybe help you with your marketing initiatives. If so, this is an overview of my overall experience of around 2 years based on facts you might find useful: Consistent Over-promising, Under-delivering: Overall, the customer experience is friendly. You would be approached initially by an associate, likely a Client Services Rep, who would gladly try to fact-find first. But watch out, they constantly say yes, but are unable to deliver. In my case, my project is big, but they say is do-able. Asked me to split it into two phases. Phase one is to incorporate my website into the content management system so it will be easier to manage. The hefty project cost of $20,000+ was discouraging at first, but it was promised that phase 2 is doable and will be within budget. When we are finally synced up, we went into a 'discovery' phase, which costs upwards of $2000 and is promised that the amount paid will help reduce the cost of Phase 2. This discovery phase is mainly for nailing out the needs that we have discussed. The associate said yes to everything I needed, and even promised that the project is will be complete on time and on budget. This process took 6 months, even though I stressed that the discovery process should only take 1. Why did we fall behind schedule? Schedules are pushed back 50% of the time. They say they're overwhelmed by other project needs, or people conveniently become sick ON a meeting day scheduled a week ahead of time. There was even a time where the associate claimed that the WHOLE design team was sick, so that we'd have to postpone a meeting. I know these things happen, but if you want to deal with them, expect every 1 of 2 scheduled engagements is NOT going to happen. I don't think that's acceptable, at all. So in the end, we have reached an agreement, the associate sent me the final statement of work with the budget I have had in mind. It was sent through to me for signing, and a day later, the associate retracts the offer and says the budget is wrong. Don't people review these contracts before sending them for sign-off? In the end, after a grueling 6 months planning, they offered me a budget that was at least 4 times more than what was promised (this is after we spent 2 months cutting down hours, which we ended it up being very close to the targeted hours). I told them if I have the money to pay them, will they be able to start as soon as possible, the short of the long is, 'no'. They have other projects, they say, and my project poses too high of a 'risk' and the opportunity cost of having their team work on mine as opposed to others is just not worth it. Basically telling me to go away. So after almost 2 years of working together, having formed a decent relationship, I'm left with a product from Phase 1 that is not workable because it only works with their system, with no refund from the discovery phase which was promised, and close to 2 years of my time down the drain. In addition, to all that, they charged me for hosting every month, and it is close to 10 times more than what you would pay for regular hosting. This is for space I am barely using and bandwidth usage that is minimal. We never went live, so no one was accessing our webpage other than programmers. Compensation on that end? Nope. If you are considering to work with this team, I would consider treading very carefully, especially when you talk about budget and schedules. This team has very little professional integrity. They can easily change their minds on budgets, they said it is in their legal disclaimer somewhere. There is always an excuse. I asked is it reasonable to change my budget to four times more than the initial statement of work. They said it was a mistake. I'd say it is a very unprofessional mishap, but I get it, it happens. Meetings? They hold meetings with complete disregard of the consequences of being late. Utmost disrespect to the client. I double confirmed a meeting, again scheduled a week ahead of time, with the VP of Client Services. A man of that stature and experience, you believe that he would respect his clients correct? He was an hour and seventeen (1:17) late to his scheduled meeting. Ever heard of time management? No update, no heads-up. Migration was essential for my company because I need to get what was rightfully mine. Again, more excuses. They say even if they have customized work for me, that work is customized from a propriety portion of their own code, I do not get any ownership of that. So everything most of what was done in Phase 1, nope, not mine. What did I get for $20k+ worth of work? 103 Kb of code to be exact. In conclusion, buyers beware.
