Rude British woman answered the phone unprofessionally because she "thought it was someone else" - fine. I then asked a fairly straightforward question about my situation (liquidating funds to buy a house this year) and whether I needed to speak to someone, and she quipped, "What's that got to do with your taxes for this year?" I explained this, and her response was that they were short-staffed and booked anyway. Very pointless, rude conversation. She sounded stressed but we all know that if your stress makes you incapable of being professional you should work on that before interacting with the public... read more

I recommend this place. I spoke to a lady by the name of Norma over the phone. She was so knowledgeable and so helpful. I had a lot of questions and I wasn't rushed. If you need help, have doubts or just want to get help from a caring individual, contact this location. You will not regret it. Thank you so much Norma! read more

Made an appointment on the website. Showed up and nobody was there, the office was empty at 2:30 on a Wednesday (I had taken time off work for this). Called the only number I could find for them and the lady at the call center could do nothing. Ended up using TurboTax. I will never use Block Advisors again. read more

Hamsa Rajaraman is great. One of my colleague refer me to her and despite such a busy time of the year and my weird tax situation she was able to answer my question. With a single email she called me personally and even look through my previous years statement to get a better sense of my situation; this despite I was not her client. Importantly I felt confident from her professionalism. She is great. I highly recommend. read more

If you have the opportunity to see the response by Block Advisors as to my very costly experience, I can only say: unless you are lactating you should see this type of corporate cookie cut retort as nothing less than an insult to one's intelligence. IDIOCRACY! read more

Cheryl Nelson is my tax preparer, and has been for the past 5 years. Knowledgeable, efficient, and can research the pants off any tax issue for you so you make the right decision. She has always looked out for my best interests, and I trust her implicitly. Believe the hype from other yelpers, Cheryl is a pro. Get in there early in the season, or work with her all year round. You'll get excellent customer service and walk away with solutions to even the most complex situations. read more

Just had to hop on here to add another recommendation for Cheryl! She was friendly, courteous, and extremely thorough. She offered to research the more complicated parts of my return over the weekend to give me peace of mind, which I thought was very kind of her. Thanks, Cheryl! read more

I have used H&R Block Auburn, California for more than 15 years. Frank Sydowski is an excellent advisor there who is knowledgeable, professional, efficient and understanding. With children off to college, I relocated to the SF area. I used Block services in Millbrae and was not satisfied because the young gal did not know what she was doing. I was put off twice because she left to attend to her private matters and then my calls were not returned, not even by other staff or a supervisor. As well, both of the offices of H&R Block are not open during normal business hours: Mon-Fri: 8-5 respectively. I went back to Frank Sydowski at H &R Block, Auburn, California. He knew exactly what to do. He had my returns completed in a jiffy. However, I had to return to Auburn weeks later to attend to business there and was met with the owner's wife's corralled dogs next to reception that never shut up. My animal was with me and did not say a word, she laid there at my command ignoring the incessant yapping of the in-house dogs at Auburn H&R Block. Furthermore, I paid $300 cash and used my credit card to complete the transaction. It was very embarrassing because the representative had trouble figuring out how to split the money for payment of each return I was paying for. I will search for a different tax preparer within the region where I live for next year's filing, unfortunately. read more

I don't leave many reviews but I felt compelled to leave one for Hamsa who did an incredible job and was such a big help to me for handling my convoluted tax situation this year. She was equal parts empathetic and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend her services. read more

The staff at this location are all super friendly! The receptionist greeted me, asked if I would like water or coffee as I waited. I'm used to just being told to sit and wait. I had a nice tax pro named Elisabeth work with me to complete a complex tax return (stocks, domestic partnership, and other deductions) and she was able to get it all done and explain the whole proces to me in a way I can comprehend it all. Definitely a 5X star location and tax pro and would recommend them! Thanks Elisabeth!! read more

Elisabeth Timmermans is the absolute best! I've been going to her for years and refer her to anyone who asks bc she's so friendly and intelligent. Her knowledge of taxes is astounding and she can easily breakdown and explain things in a way that makes sense to someone like me who does not know much about taxes. Go to her and you won't have to worry about taxes ever again. read more

I called them and first of all very nice over the phone, answered all my questions politely. I called Liberty tax because H & R was booked and I didn't want to wait. After speaking with Liberty tax I would never go there they were so rude! So I came in 30 min early to my appointment at H & R block and they happened to be ready for me, very nice! I went with Andrea. She seemed really laid back, calm and collected and made me feel comfortable. I will be back. Everything was quick and easy! Thanks Andrea! read more

I must tell you all about a fantastic tax preparer at this location in Redwood City. Her name is Nina Oldham. She was so knowledgeable and efficient. She even discovered an error had been made by another tax preparer the previous year and for no additional charge to me filed an amendment and now I will receive additional money from last year! She knows what she is doing and if she doesn't know the answer to something she know's exactly where to find that information. She is a true professional and I will go to her as long as I can! Thank you Nina Oldham! read more

Elizabeth has made tax season fun rather than a chore. She always calls me with deals she thinks may apply to my return, sets up appointments for me, reminds me when to show up, and makes the entire process easy and actually fun. I know taxes and fun don't normally go together but her help, smiles, and personal touch she makes it so nice. She remembers details of my personal life and makes me feel like I'm her only clients. She is such a wonderful person and so knowledgeable. I get much more in my returns when she helps me rather than me trying to do it myself. read more

I made my decision to go to this specific H&R Block based off the convenience of location and mostly because of the positive review of Cheryl. I could not be happier with my decision! My experience here definitely did not live up to the reviews. First, my meeting started a full 15 minutes late. During that time, two advisors were gossiping openly in front of me about a coworker. When I sat down with the advisor I was meeting with, she seemed not only unwilling to help, but actually unwilling to have my business. She was unprofessional, at best; rude and condescending is closer to the reality. There was a lot of shrugging, eyebrow raising, and "Well, it depends" in response to questions (for which she had context). I'll be taking my business elsewhere. read more

It turned out that I didn't need Block help this year, since my issue was with Required Minimum Distributions, which do not apply to my 2016 return. However, not only did I have a useful and free discussion with Nina, but after I got home, she sent me an email detailing some further research she had done, which provided additional information. So while I did not need the help this year, I am likely to return next year if it turns out that I need professional assistance. read more

Kuelian was incredibly helpful, responsive, and nice! This place is great, and I feel really grateful they helped me with my taxes!

This is our 3rd year in California and our 2nd year going to Elisabeth C. Timmermans, EA. She is very knowledgeable about everything, and has completely cleaned our records with the IRS We had come from Miami with lots of tax issues (bad accountants), being audited year after year since 2007 and contractor jobs that made pay stub mistakes between FL and CA taxes, mixed with the $8000 home owners credit that was no longer a credit since we moved out of the home...and the list goes on and on. She worked with us for over an hour, asking all the right questions and walking us through the process. We were so nervous and worried that we would get audited again, but we did not and I could not believe we actually had a state credit this year. She was also very helpful in recommending us a good financial advisor, we had also been burnt in the past from advisors that promise you the world at a hefty fee with no liability if you loose on your investment. If I could I would write dozens of post on Elisabeth since we need honest, nice, knowledgeable and trustworthy people like her. Specially when you are sharing your hard earned future and putting your trust on someone you barely know. So if Elisabeth ever reads this I want to tell her THANK YOU very much and I am actually looking forward to working with you next year :) Genevieve :) read more
