How can the owner of the salon do this and let a client leave with GREEN hair from over toning? It is beyond being disappointed my hair is fried, over processed and she left the toner on too long. Not only did she let me leave like this but her assistant got the round brushes stuck in my hair which caused damaged to my newly brittle green hair. She knows how to style hair in a way that compliments the clients hair texture, thickness, and face shape. I am a Stylist with over 30 years experience. I was highly trained and always held in the highest regard for all services I offered, so I have a thorough understanding of the difference between a "good" and "bad" haircut. I have been seeking the same in a Stylist who could provide a high standard haircut service. I have not been able to find one in my local area for the last two years. I have endured multiple inappropriate haircuts and always have to start over. I approached Bliss, in passing, and was convince, by two staff members, that Hailey (owner of Bliss) being a level 7 (highest level) Stylist would be a good choice for me. I trusted them and the fact Hailey considers herself a level 7 since that typically means extensive training. Hailey did tell me she has 27 years experience, so that further calmed my reservations about allowing her to cut my hair. I had grown my hair out enough to allow for a reshaping and explained in precise detail what I desired Hailey to do. I was feeling very anxious upon arrival, yet then calmed down as we began to converse during the cut. In doing so my attention was diverted away from the cutting technique and I now fully regret it. There is no precision or consistency. There are areas, throughout the cut, of unblended short and long hair. There is extra bulk on right side given the effect of a Bob, while the left side is layers. I did mention this at the end of the style. Hailey stated the cut looked more layered on the left due to the cowlick on the back left side of my head, which is absolutely not the case . I can tuck the right side behind my ear, I cannot do so on the left. My disappointment is immense! I left the salon feeling fairly good, then took some time to look closer at my cut. Also, realizing Hailey never offered me a mirror to look at my cut from all sides prior to leaving her chair. I returned to the salon to ask for a correction. Hailey was busy, so I had to make an appointment for the following week. I have very manageable hair, yet this morning it was impossible to achieve a descent style. I am so sad and disappointed that I have to start over once again. Hailey kindly returned my call to discuss this situation. She told me she has never had this happen to her before. She suggested that we are not a good fit and offered to refund my payment of $70, of which I do appreciate. Still I am left with a haircut that is definitely lacking the quality I had expected from a level 7 stylist. read more

I have had several hair cuts and coloring at the Avada Salon in Belks in Asheville (Carmen!Carmen!) so I thought I know what to expect at Bliss. I didn't want to drive to Asheville so decided to try them. I was on time for my hair cut but was made to wait for 10-15 minutes before someone came and took me to the wash station. I was then seated at a station and had to wait another 10 minutes for the stylist to show up. Since it was my 1st time there, I should have had a consult with the stylist to discuss the cut BEFORE they washed my hair. I should not have been made to wait 20+ minutes and it was a terrible hair cut and not what I wanted (which she would have known if I had a consult while it was dry). Next day I called to speak to the owner and told the receptionist the cut was awful. She offered to make me an appointment with the same stylist and I said NO WAY I want to speak to the manager/owner. Apparently the owner doesn't take kindly to complaints because she never called me back. Since then I have told all my friends do not go near that salon! By the way, I was purchasing all my hair products there and probably spent several hundred dollars- not anymore. Do not go to this salon they don't care about the superior customer service normally given at Aveda salons. read more

I recently had my hair cut and colored by Kelsey at Bliss salon. Not only did she give me a phenomenal haircut, she also dyed my hair a rich red. Since moving here from Chicago, I have had a hard time finding a stylist who can do red. I admit that I called back to see if she could lighten it abit but after numerous compliments on my hair, and the way it gradually lightened in the sun, I realized Kelsey knew what she was doing. After seeing Gabrielle (an extraordinary stylist) for over a year, today I had a horrible verbal abuse interaction by Kim, the receptionist. This individual informed me that Gabby was out on medical leave due to an injury and that she had "spoken" to me and also left a message about rescheduling me for a half hour later with another stylist, which I had no issue with. When I responded that I had no such conversation nor message she became quite belligerent insisting that it was my error, by my not recollecting. Before I could even inquire about Gabby's condition, Kim continued her belligerence in stating incorrectly again that she "spoke" with and contacted me and how she "didn't have time for this". I was appalled at her rude manner. I asked her what phone number she called and she quickly found out it was the incorrect one. Here is where an apology from her could have ended the ordeal. I waited and then I queried her if she would apologize for her gross actions but, she stared at me mutely. I was rather upset and my voice then became raised in telling her how arrogant, rude and unprofessional she was and I went outside to cool off and wait for my appointment. This is just a classic avoidance of responsibility by a self-absorbed, completely unprofessional individual who has no business being a customer service point of contact. If Kim was a professional, the first thing she should have done was verified my phone number instead of mouthing off...good grief. 10 minutes later I received a call (corrected phone number) from Kim informing me that one of the stylists didn't appreciate my raised voice and how I disturbed the tranquility of their environment and that I shouldn't come back or have my hair cut at Bliss. The laughable kicker is the turning of the tables by Bliss, with them now being the victim. So much for the owner's statement on their website to give their guests "a truly exceptional experience". This cancel culture crud is why our country is in so much trouble. Zero accountability. I will miss Gabrielle, she didn't deserve the loss of a happy client. read more

I wanted an appointment with Emily, who has curly hair. She is no longer taking new clients. I was assigned "the new girl" in the shop but was assured that she was an expert stylist. What a mistake! Color was okay, but she just chopped my hair! No clue how to cut curly hair. No clue how to style curly hair. $180.00 later, I came out of the shop looking WORSE than when I went in. It took me 4 months to grow it out. I attempted a refund, no dice. They would have Emily try and correct the cut! It was so short that I would have had a crew cut if it had be "recut". Terrible shop, terrible service, and super expensive. That haircut made me cry! read more

Amazing salon! It's refreshing to have a visually beautiful salon that is spotlessly clean, offering great talent with everything from facials to Aveda trained hair stylists. I recently booked a much needed "Spa Day". The facial solved two issues I had been trying to solve for 6 months ( one was that my skin type was changing and my dry areas were expanding) AND the massage actually worked my knots out without hurting me! I found Gabby at Bliss while traveling Sept 2020 and she did a great job with my hair cut (which I'd last done myself in July, yikes!), very personable too. I personally appreciate very much that the salon requires masks for stylists and customers during the ongoing covid pandemic for everyone's health & safety. That's why I tried Bliss, as I won't go to a mask free salon, but I kept coming back each time I was nearby (still traveling) because of this policy, and, Gabby. All the other staff I've met from check in/check out and those that wash my hair are all just really nice and professional, too. The prices are what I expect at an Aveda salon, having been to several around the country. I think good service, including health standards, are very important and valuable. Doesn't hurt how cute it is in there and right in downtown so you can pop into some shops while you're there. read more

$15 for a kid's haircut... Insanity! The same price as what they charge at Walmart or the mall, except instead of getting a sub-par haircut by some beauty school dropout, Hannah gave my super wiggly toddler the most incredibly BRILLIANT cut/style. Now that I think about it, at Walmart and those other places, the charge extra for shampoo and styling, so Bliss is actually cheaper! I've been searching high and low for a hair place around Hendersonville that would actually be willing and able to cut my son's hair. I have to say that I am overjoyed to have serendipitously found such an incredible quality salon at an even more incredible price--especially in a town that seems to only cater to geriatric clients :-) I think I've finally found a salon that is truly for my entire family. read more

I've been coming here for the better part of a year now and have always had an excellent experience. Holly cuts my hair (and the rest of my family) and she does a phenomenal job. The head massages while they shampoo your hair and top notch and they always go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable. Try and get to your appointment a few minutes early and get a hot tea, you'll be glad you did. It could have been a better experience, but... At the salon on Main Street, I had some fairy hair put in and the strands mostly came out within a few days. Bliss gladly took me in to get more fairy hair put and were very nice about it. These also didn't last long, but I chalked it off to my fine hair, appreciating their attempt to correct the situation. Also, the second girl, Gabriella, trimmed my bangs and did an excellent job. At that point, I wanted to return for a hair cut and color. While I was there, I checked out the Aveda cosmetics. After reading all about the moisturizing formula, I bought a $25 lipstick. After applying the lipstick (not just the dab on a Q-tip from the sample, but a full application) it was the ugliest lipstick I've ever had. Now,I'm a senior on a fixed income, and throwing away $25 can't happen, so I called them and asked what recourse I had. Stephanie said she would ask and call me back. Never heard from her. I get it. They think I'm a problem customer. I'm not. I just can't throw away $25 for a crappy lipstick product. I didn't realize I had wrinkles (I guess) in my lips until I used the Aveda lipstick--the product highlighted the creases in my lips and it was very DRY. So I guess customer service only goes so far at Bliss. Not quite far enough for me to return. Bliss--only for the 1% who have enough money to waste on sorry products. read more

Unfortunately my stylist Gabby was sweet but spent no time consulting me on color or cut. I felt like we spent about two minutes discussing what I wanted. The color looked exactly the same as when I came in & I was unhappy with my cut & style. No communication. I'm going to go to someone else & have it fixed- even though it was offered for 'when I got home & if I wanted to come back.' No thanks. I feel like the receptionist should have asked what level of stylist you would prefer, which they didn't. Very unhappy with my experience. Maybe it was a bad day. read more

We made appointments months in advance for a wedding party of 12 bridesmaids and mothers of the bride and groom. When we called to make the appointments, we were told the price for updos was $35/person. The bride and mother of the bride went for a trial and were told half up/half down was $35 but an updo was $60. When we showed up for the appointments on the day of the wedding, the price was $60 for ALL hair, whether it was half up or an updo. The salon owner's mother was at the front desk and was very rude but at this point, we had been told 3 different price structures. Some bridesmaids paid $25 for makeup and some paid $30 and several went home and re-applied their makeup. All in all, not a good experience. read more

By their prices you'd think you were in downtown Atlanta but if you want a cut on the lower end (normal pricing for other salons) you will get someone (what they call a Level 1) who is fresh out of school who will screw up your hair and leave you in tears. After two different visits trying to fix my hair the owner wouldn't even come out to talk to me (I did get my money back). They tell you everyone is experienced but not so much the case. And they don't use thinning shears (they are always used to thin out my hair on top) but when you ask about them you get "we don't do that here", like they have this grand way of doing hair. They cut directly into the hair which chops the hell out of it. I asked for a trim up of my hair which is short and left looking like man who's 3 year old decided to give him a haircut. DON'T go to this salon if you want a good cut, they will tear it up every time. read more

I recently had a horrible hair experience with another girl, I wanted to even out my hair color and make it dark brown, like my natural color and the girl I previously went to dyed my hair a reddish/brown and I HATED it, so my friend referred me to this salon and it was the best thing ever!!! I made an appointment with Pattie and she was super nice and friendly, she took a look at my hair and asked what I wanted, she took the time to hear me out and I showed her a picture of the look I wanted to go for. She did exactly what I was expecting, my hair is now a beautiful dark brown with light brown highlights. My hair looks beautiful and it is all thanks to this amazing girl! I will definitely be going back to this salon. Even if I have to drive half an hour from Asheville to Hendersonville. Totally recommend! read more

Had a haircut with Laura who was a delight. While this is an Aveda salon, it needs to step it up to compete with the many other Aveda salons I have visited. It was very clean and friendly but the extra special touches were missing except for the sublime head massage I got from Laura. Also had a wonderful eyebrow wax from Emma. My first experience there was with an apprentice and it was not great. Not horrible, but not what I expected from an Aveda Salon. I wrote an email to the owner explaining my concerns, trying to be positive and helpful. I was so pleasantly surprised when I received a phone call from the salon thanking me for my suggestions and offering me a complimentary style from the owner. Got my hair cut from her today and LOVE it! To me, though, the fact that a business owner responded in a professional and responsible way makes me want to go back -- just as much as the great haircut! Kudos to Bliss for good service and being a great, locally owned business. I not only will continue to go back but recommend them wholeheartedly!
