Be ready to work hard for an hour and make new friends as your sort through various items! This is a great place for your work to do volunteering through as they can support a large group coming in to help. But even if you want to just go solo there is a spot waiting for you!

There's an antique mall and Cabbarus Brewing in an adjacent building that is very large. We'll probably stop by here again someday to enjoy it during a little busier time. I did some volunteer work with the Urban Ministry Center's Community Works 945 project earlier this…read moreyear, and it was an amazing place. The 945 Project combines efforts from artists and activists within our community with the talents of local homeless for various projects to beautify our community and to help the local homeless move towards employment and self-sufficiency. I did a little tutoring for folks studying for the GED exam as well as helping people with resumes, and it was a fulfilling experience. The environment around the 945 building is amazing. There's all this art all over the place, and people kind of wander in and out to work on their projects and talk about what's going on in their lives. It was a really healing, healthy place to hang out, and I met a lot of interesting people. If you're public-service inclined and looking for a place to do some volunteer work, I'd recommend checking out the Urban Ministry Center. They are pretty creative about putting people's skills to work, so you might be surprised at how they can use your talents.

The single door is secured with a catch. Inside, two shelves. Today, those shelves were empty except for two children's books. I need to buy a box of canned goods from ALDI next time so that I have stuff to put into these neighborhood food banks. This Blessing Box is not on the Little Free Pantry database map so I don't know who sponsors it - the Greater Mount Sinai Baptist Church is nearby, maybe it's them?
