I have difficult hair and I like to keep a nice hair style, I have a very anxious experience anytime I go to a barber shop. I was overdue for a haircut and decided to try someplace new. I was impressed with the 5-star rating average of Blend, and after going here myself, I can see why they have earned this rating. Blend is located in a collection of small studios as part of what is labeled outside as "Sola Salon." I had trouble locating Blend at first but it is inside the building at studio #12. I had made an appointment via phone a few days before, but you can make appointments online as well. I had some nice small talk with Blake who cut my hair, who said he opened up Blend with two other guys about 3 years ago. The cut is a flat $40 price, which includes a shampoo, beer or water, and styling. While the price is a bit high, the quality of the cut is apparent; Blake was very easy to talk to and was very detailed in his attention to the haircut. While all the guys are relatively young, they are very dedicated to their craft and I wish them the best of success in a competitive industry! read more

I struggled getting stylish haircuts at a Great Clips or Sports Clips (usually done by 50+ moms who aren't tapped in to the culture) and when I found Matt at Blend, everything changed. Wow! Thank God for John Lloyd. Let me set the stage: Tweenager with fine straight hair wants "textured/blended/fluffy" whatever the kids are doing. Last two cuts didn't go well, and he asked me to find someone new. I search high and low because I know the feeling of sitting anxiously as someone learns his hair for the first time: the multiple cowlicks, and despite many gentle "warnings," reminders, and hail Mary's about how we are really trying to avoid the Dumb and dumber bangs... well the bangs resulted in more than one occasion so I was nervous to try someone new. After some research I decided to set my appointment at Blend with Blake. It was immediately made clear that his attention to detail was far better than possibly anyone I've ever had cut my hair. It was a pleasant surprise. I also had him trim my beard, which I generally take care of myself, and he did a fantastic job with that, as well. Blake was quite disappointing. He completely clippered off my sideburns without my requesting, or his asking if that's what I wanted. He left the remainders uneven, to boot. When I called, he said he does that to everyone. Really? If I wanted cookie cutter hack job, I could have spent a lot less money at a Super Cuts. If Blake wants to be considered a professional, and charge those fees, he should act like one and speak to his clients, rather than doing what he wants. My first cut was with John, I told him what I wanted for my hair and he immediately came up with a style that would fit for me and gave me tips on how to maintain it.
