Aaron was patient and open to showing us other custom homes he had built. He pays attention to detail, he explains everything and we were always in the loop. We had heard horror stories about builders so we were wary. However, Aaron was available 24/7 even when I had crazy questions and thoughts. We stayed on almost completely on budget and when we picked things that were over budget, we were told about it in advance. We got everything we wanted. I will recommend Evans to anyone who are wanting to custom build.

First, the backhoe driver that was grading the land ran into my retaining wall and would hot have said anything had I not come home and caught him. He was trying to just get out of it until I told him I was going to make an insurance claim against him and started taking pictures. Then he decided to offer to fix it and took a week to do it. THE WALL THAT IS HOLDING UP MY HOUSE!!! Next, their workers stole my water from my outside spigot and caused my water bill to double. Then I got video of them stealing my neighbor on the other side's water after I confronted them about mine. I verified with the tenant and the owner and they did not have permission to hook into their spigot. Now, one of their brick layers has side swiped my car while going in and out of the driveway causing significant cosmetic damage to my back quarter panel. When I have called the owner to address my issues he just denies and ignores me. The builder is never at the property making sure that his subcontractors are being respectful. They leave their half-eaten food and trash on my retaining wall and it ends up littering my driveway, yard, and the yards around me. There is no accountability for these subcontractors and the way the owner is just brushing me off is despicable. DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE IF YOU DON'T WANT YOUR NEW NEIGHBORS TO HATE YOU BEFORE YOU MOVE IN!

The best part of the whole experience was he was professional, friendly and, most importantly, extremely honest in his word, prices and actions.

Gates do not fit or work now. Sent helper to fix a few items once, then came back to 'temp' fix other issues. Then stopped responding when job was not finished. Won't reply to texts. Items wrong: Caps not installed on the tops of posts. Nails left sticking through on the back side. Nails used instead of screws to hold pickets on. Split wood when drilling screws into hinges. Hardware mounted crooked. Hardware too weak for size of gate. Nails were simply bent over when hitting resistance. Looks very unprofessional. Used "white wood" (pine) instead of cedar. (Sent helper out to fix nails and caps several weeks after payment). I helped with the labor of clearing fence line with my chainsaw. Used my materials (wood & screws) to put up "temporary" reinforcement. Arrived in sedan so could not bring any replacement lumber. Pros: Seems like good guy, Posts were set well. Biggest Con: Disappears when there are still problems and thinks that's OK.

It is my opinion that West Painting, Inc. is an untrustworthy contractor. The owner (Mark West)…read moreprovided a quote, which I accepted, and then waited two months for him to start my exterior paint project. After stripping the paint off the front of my house Mark West advised me that he made a mistake/typo on his quote, and that the labor cost for my project would be double ($20K+ instead of $10K). It is important to note that this was the labor price alone and didn't include materials or paint. The main body of the house is stone that required no paint. The $20K+ he was seeking was only for eaves, soffits, and fascias on a small 1900 SF house. Rather than honor his word by doing the job for the quoted price, Mark West instructed his crew to leave when I refused to pay the additional cost. He is either ignorant of his trade and estimating, or knowingly utilized bait and switch tactics to secure my business. Either way, I believe that Mark West is unprofessional and can't be trusted. Prospective customers would be wise to have an attorney review any contract or agreement presented by this individual.

He was very happy to take my call and said he could be out immediately to take a look. He seemed to know that what we had was getting in the way of our day to day and with children in the home it wasn't something we could put off. They showed up on time and right away surveyed the scene and put together an accurate and agreeable estimate to remedy our problem. He and his guys had to get under the house and replace old rotted out wood and insured the support of the flooring. Inside they went to work on the tile replacing damaged areas with new tile, making sure it all matched up and to me looked almost brand new. My husband and I were extremely pleased with the work we had Luke do. Luke was very honest, professional, punctual and affordable. I would hire him again without a second thought.

He was not on time to the job one time he was working, which were mostly times which he specified or requested. There were some days he never even showed up, and some days he couldn't be reached. It was one issue or excuse after another and promise after promise broken the entire time. He kept reassuring us he would get his truck back and things would be different.... It never happened and things only got worse. He ended up dropping the ball and stepping away from the job having not even fully completed one third of it. (He completed one bathroom of two small bathrooms and house trim) He had some final touches but quit the job via a text message after nearly a month working on it. Overall, a very disappointing and frustrating experience, as we are now left searching for another contractor to help us with our home remodel. Luke was friendly and honest about the work & pricing. It is evident he likes his work and takes pride in what he does. He did good work when he was here (if he was here), but he was incredibly unreliable, has no crew or reliable help, and seemed to have issue after issue after issue......ad nauseum. If he gets his act together, I'm sure he could be a good hire, but until that happens, I would not recommend it.
