During a recent visit, she was literally singing my daughter's name while treating her for a cavity--turning what could have been a stressful moment into something sweet and calm. After politely arguing and stress she eventually admits that she did tell me wrong and changes it back. Shady and unfortunately cannot recommend. Sad because the clinical side is great.

However, we recently had to cancel 2 consecutive appointments, due to illness and were abruptly told to find another dentist! Apparently, all patients are made aware of an office policy, and can be dropped after 2 rescheduled appointments- they count them as "no-shows" even if you call to reschedule. Don't be mistaken- this is not an office that prioritizes families. They do not make considerations if your child is sick. If there are 2 appointment cancellations, you will be dropped. You would imagine Dr.Horton and her staff would understand, as they have children of their own. Very disappointing.

And let me tell you, she has major anxiety over anything medically related as do most kids. Dr Mary Alice is AMAZING and her staff is the same! They have kids figured out to the T! They are warm, compassionate, super sweet, and they tell the kids everything that is going to happen but make it sound super magical instead! When they are doing dental procedures, they have TVs on the ceiling to help keep the kids distracted which is such a good idea! The facility is brand new, cutely decorated, clean, organized and not cluttered. Having multiple children who will need to have their wisdom teeth taken out, I had hoped to find a good oral surgeon and looked at reviews before making my decision. However, we were disappointed in our experience with Carolina Oral and Facial. The surgery itself was uneventful, but when we called with a simple question about whether it would be okay to alternate my daughter's medicine, Dr. Williams immediately angrily stated that nothing that my daughter was feeling had anything to do with what he had done. I have absolutely no idea why he seemed to feel attacked by such a simple question. He demanded to speak with my daughter and after aggressively asking her repetitive questions (leaving her in tears), I told him I would just call our pharmacist instead. Which is what I did, and it worked out well in the end, but it was a bit scary to know that I couldn't have a conversation with the person I had trusted to perform surgery on my child. Skill is obviously a very important trait in a doctor, but I am not comfortable and do not trust someone so unprofessional, so we will be seeking a new oral surgeon for my youngest child.

This is, at least for me, a true no-pain dentist. Using a pre-needle local anesthetic makes a huge difference and Dr. Fowler makes certain your are not experiencing discomfort. Dr. Fowler did not find the cavity in the upper molar at the check up and I had to point him to it…read more It was a bad sign and I should have left his practice at that point. He also said he was an hour behind and asked me to reschedule. I decided to give him an opportunity to do the filling based on his all positive reviews and his years of experience. I was wrong. He looked at the x-ray and said that I had a root canal done at this tooth and did the filling. There was some problem with the band that the doctor placed on the tooth and he had to cut through the material between the teeth at the end of the procedure. Filling had an overhang. Immediately after the procedure I started to experience the pain in the tooth. It did not get better in 2 days and I came to get the filling redone. It turned out I did not have a root canal at this tooth. He redid the filling, but took out too much material at the end, so now I have a problem with the bite and have pain in premolars at top and bottom jaws. I also noticed my upper lip infected with something like cold sores the morning after treatment. I am a lot worse now than I was when I came to his office for treatment.

But times have changed I suppose - you take your kids to these fancy places now, or at least in the States you do. So as you can imagine, these kid-friendly-dentists are trained to "cheer up" and take away the "scare factor" of getting your teeth looked at - and Crockett does it well. In fact, my 5 year old already had a cavity! Thanks G-mama for all those snacks and ice cream pops ( well, we take a good blame as well.....doh!..... they don't call me Mr. Snack for no reason ) Anyway, he took it well and didn't shed a tear ... they even pulled the tooth out and he was like, "you gonna take out more, and let me see it, o'tay" .... time to brush son.
