It was pretty crowded and it's a popular tourist stop for sure. We ended up getting each of the grand-darlings a souvenir ornament from here, and actually in retrospect this place fits their family perfectly. It turns out their mom and pops have procrastinated taking down their tree so they're doing the year round thing too and are already ready for this year's Christmas! I'm glad their parents never read my reviews lol. BTW, the staffers here are all appropriately cheerful and friendly.

The price is very decent considering its original art work and all hand crafted. There are souvenir stores down the road charging almost the same $$ for much lesser quality accessories that are clearly not handmade. The store is very clean and brightly lit and I particularly enjoy that each artist has a section with some cards you can take that have their information on it. The owner walked us through all the various scents and grouped them into 4 major categories: floral, fruity, spicy and sweet. Each category contained its own sub group but you could also find a few surprises here and there. It's never just about the quantity but quality as well. The unique thing about these candles is that they are RAL quality marked which ensures that they're good for the environment and you. They don't produce black smoke, soot, or any harmful toxins. They burn with scent in equal proportions throughout and you won't get any of those annoying dips. To top it all off, they're all handmade in France. There was no way I wasn't going to walk out with an arm-full of these!

This place is relatively small and is loaded with iron work for the home. That includes hooks, bells, mailboxes, pulls, handles, etc. It's actually like peeling back an onion as I returned a couple times during the trip and found other stuff that I didn't notice before. I ended up taking up a card holder (with an owl motif) and a key holder shaped like a turtle. What I really coveted was one of the cast iron mail boxes, which I'm still considering as a mail order option. The place is fun, funky, and practical. My kind of tourist destination. It was also interesting to listen to other customers discuss home improvements in French.

It is near the Notre Dame Basilica de Quebec. Simons is a very small and quiet department store. Convenient for the tourist who forgot to pack something or now needs warmer clothing for the cold Quebec weather. We were surprised that Simons did not have a small giftware section where we might purchase a unique souvenir of our visit to Old Quebec that would not end up being a dusty tchotchke.
