They're in a library…read more There seems to be a culture here, in my eyes detrimental, of a library being a congregation point for the community and thereby giving free reign to both the staff and library users permission to speak at the top of their voices. I've never experienced entering a library and staff literally talking from one end to the other, receptionist right beside the study area ringing and answering calls constantly and people talking on there phones with NO SHAME. The entire morning I sat in the library trying to study for upcoming exams the librarian called countless libraries across Dublin looking to locate a children's book called "Foxe's". There is absolutely no consideration given to people trying to read. The reason students and others go to the library is to read books or study and the only environment conducive to these aims is to provide a silent area. Deansgrange library fails to cater for these needs and only operates as a public forum for chat. I understand certain people see the library as an outing from their homes but please discuss current affairs outside and not when people are working. The pleasant nature of the staff get them 2 stars however this is the worst place in the world to go in order to read.

Public libraries will save you a lot of coins and this one is especially nice on sunny days. You can sit on the benches outside whilst reading your book. The interior is pretty bad though, so only come on sunny days.

Fantastic selection of books, DVDs and CDs. I already have a list the length of my arm for what to pick up next time. The cookbook and craft books were up to date and full of great ideas. There's also an area downstairs where you can read newspapers and magazines. The decor is very modern, comfy and airy with beanbags and armchairs to lounge on while you read. Getting a library card was quick and painless. I just provided a copy of a utility bill on my smartphone as proof of address and I was good to go! You can also return books to any of the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown area libraries. There's a pop up cafe downstairs to enjoy pastries, sandwiches and coffees. Probably not the best place to study without sound canceling headphones as a lot of inconsiderate parents let their kids run around screaming while people tried to concentrate

After the old Dun Laoghaire library shut, I eagerly awaited the opening of the new one, and wasn't disappointed with what appeared. A huge building, dominating the skyline of the town, once inside you enter a space filled with high ceilings, lots of light and amazing views of the harbour. Even if you don't like books (or newspapers,DVDs, artwork and exhibitions), it's worth visiting the library for the views alone. BUT if you do want a bit more from your library, it doesn't disappoint. Three floors of books (fiction, non-fiction, travel to name a few), newspapers, magazines, audio books, DVDs and CDs; activities for all; art exhibitions; seating areas to do work; a local history section; and even a cafe downstairs. In a time when funding for libraries is constantly being cut, it's great to see such an investment for the future.

I have been going into this library since I was a little girl and it hasn't changed a bit, literally not one thing has changed, well maybe some of the staff but that is it! When you walk in the doors downstairs you will be walking straight into the adult section of the library. There are also some computer terminals here where you can get access to the internet (is suppose that is one change, but probably the only one!). Upstairs is the children's library which is divided up in different age groups. They have readings of various books in there too from time to time which is something free and good to do (for children)on a rainy day . The other half of the upstairs part of the library ahs desks for studying, not many though so don't all rush down there at once! Around these desks are shelves one of which is full of books and documents detailing the history of the local area, you will be surprised about how little local history of Dundrum is on the internet so this is a valuable resource.

As well as the usual book borrowing service, Libraries are free I think thats pretty great in itself, they offer free wireless, study space, it is small but there none the less, a plethora of official forms and lots and lot of info on community projects and education resources. The staff will be more then happy t o talk you through the wonders of the Internet too if your new to the web. They've also got a Irish and English reading groups ever week and a Irish conversation exchange each week if you wanna practice your Gaeilge.

It is a pleasant library with a friendly, helpful staff and a good collection of books. There are two sections- adults and children which are seperated by the main desk. There are also computers for general use in the childrens section. I really like this library as it is small and peaceful, and the idea of seperating the childrens and adults books has alot to be said for it.

There library is more centred around people sitting down and using the facilities over having endless rows of books, the books are mostly on lower shelves so within easy reach. I found it really nice walking around having a quick read of a few books. Even visiting the art exhibition room they have with some odd looking creations inside. Also on the top highest floor you'll be delighted to see a 1916 exhibition with some unique items on show. Worth a visit for that alone considering its now 2016. Very good
