I bought a car at Blackjack Auto a little over a year ago, and have had issues with it from day one. But the mechanic was so rude when I was there, I didn't feel at all comfortable taking it back to have him work on the problems. It had a strange smell inside when I drove it, like burning oil. I mentioned it to them, and the mechanic said " like the smell of burnt crayons..?"
Like I couldn't possibly know what BURNING OIL smells like..?
He said the car previously had a bad oil pressure sending unit, but that he had repaired it and not to worry... "the smell will go away eventually."
I like to try to give people the benefit of the doubt, so I stupidly believed him, and have regretted it.every.day.since because it never got better: just worse and worse over the course of months, and I was in the process of moving... so wasn't able to take it back to them even if I trusted them to do the right thing... which was obviously never going to happen.
So, I've been stuck with a $6000 car that I worry about driving because the oil leak was actually due to a bad head gasket which was later diagnosed by TWO mechanics who refused to fix it because this car make and model has a history of this issue and apparently it's hard to repair, so I've had to check and replace the oil way more than is normal with a good engine, AND I've had to put $1200 into replacing the drivetrain, and tie rods. I'm convinced they knew this car had issues, and they hid them, sold it under the guise of those issues being repaired when they were WELL AWARE that it was not in good working order, and they took advantage of an under-informed customer.
Bottom line: I'd never buy another car from this business.
If you want to buy a vehicle they are selling, get it checked by a reputable mechanic FIRST, and check reviews for the car you're interested in!
