If I could give 0 stars I would. We had a horrible experience with this company today. SCAM LIKELY!!!!
After learning we had a slow leak from a pipe in the wall, Blackhill Restoration was recommended by our plumber and contacted. I initially spoke with Kristen and she set up an appointment for a technician to come and assess the damage from the leak. When i spoke with her on the phone she seemed to be very helpful and set up the appointment for 6pm. She asked if we would do the work even if it turned out to not be covered by insurance. I told her yes, that we are going to have to complete the repairs needed either way. I did ask her for a ballpark estimate of the cost which she was not able to provide without the damage first being assessed. Kristen proceeded to email the authorization form to my husband. The technician arrived within the allotted window. My husband met him outside and explained that we were looking for a quote. Cesear quickly assessed the damage. He then went to his vehicle to complete the quote. He told my husband the initial quote amount of $1350. We thanked him for his time expecting him to leave. A few minutes later Kristen called me to inform me that since we declined the work and the initial quote that we needed to pay them $150. She stated, "We usually don't send our technicians out for quotes in the evening hours. You said you wanted to get the work done either way. We need you to pay the technician cash, provide credit card information, or I can discount the cost of the work to $1200."
IN ALL OUR PREVIOUS CONVERSATIONS SETTING UP THE APPOINTMENT AND DISCUSSING INSURANCE, ETC. SHE NEVER ONCE STATED THERE WOULD BE A FEE IF WE DID NOT COMPLETE THE SERVICE TODAY. IT ALSO WAS NOT STATED ON THE AUTHORIZATION FORM SHE EMAILED MY HUSBAND.
At this point, I told Kristen that she should have stated their policy before sending the technician and that we were not going to pay the fee. I told her it was misleading and shady to call and try to get payment after the fact. I then told her I would have my husband reach out to her for further discussion. At this point the technician came back to my front door. He patiently waited outside while my husband spoke to Kristen. After I spoke with my husband, we explained to Cesar that no one informed us of the policy, and that we even explained to him at the beginning of the assessment that we were only looking for a quote. He was understanding and left.
Then, Blake (the general manager of Blackhill Restoration) sent a text message to my husband threatening to send a bill of $150 to collections. My husband called and had a conversation with him where he claimed that Kristen, Julie (we never spoke with a Julie) and Cesar all claim they informed us of the policy. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY FALSE. My husband told him he is welcome to try but we will not be paying them and may take legal actions if necessary. I cannot believe this is how they run their company.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEY ARE SCAMMERS. read more
