Mind you, the beer selection wasn't all that great, but they did have a couple of nice ones on tap though. I liked this pub, though while it wasn't the best, there were certainly some good things about it.

They were not fully occupied, but they nevertheless gave me a room at the front instead. Indeed, even with earplugs, I was woken up a couple of times in the night by eighteen wheelers driving by on the road out front and the train on the tracks across the street. Not a great night's sleep. The staff was nice though and let me store my bags in the office between checkout and when I left town. Bed, bathroom, and the sink in the room were all fine.

I booked into one of the loft rooms, which was quite spacious with a king bed and multiple sitting areas, 2 flat panel tvs, rainforest double shower and a working gas fireplace. All of the rooms are brand new as of only a few months ago. The lodges are all situated in a really peaceful setting, and the gardens are a delight to wander around, just be mindful of the duck droppings by the pond. It's worthwhile to get the breakfast option ($25 in advance, $35 on site) which includes a small buffet and a selection of made to order items all served in a charming country house setting with quite the view of the gardens. The location while very relaxing is a bit of a walk from the small village of Blackheath and the scenic lookout point of Govett's Leap, and maybe a 10-15 min drive to the larger towns of the Blue Mountains. There are no dining options for lunch or dinner on-site, so you'll definitely want to bring the car. All in, it's a great spot to relax and really get away from it all.

I have visited this historic property several times for the Sydney Writers' Festival in May. In…read morefairness I have not stayed at the property but they handle special events seamlessly. The venue itself is exquisite. Every detail of the decor is charming and in line with the historical significance of The Carrington. Facilities are always clean and the staff patient despite the size of the crowd. I can't give five stars since I have never been in a private guest room, but if the public spaces are any indication, this is a great place to stay.
