Google did not account for the entire road being thick clay mud that absolutely trapped us. After calling AAA and explaining the whole situation, we waited for hours for someone to come out only to find out that AAA doesn't help on dirt roads, let alone muddy ones. Another towing company told us they wouldn't come out. Honestly, I understand people not coming out, it was awful out there, but it was looking like we would have to spend the night in our car and hope for better in the morning (rain was predicted for the next three days so that wasn't likely). Troy came out and risked his own truck to pull us out! I can't describe how indebted we are to him. He was kind, patient, and didn't give us a hard time for making such a dumb decision to be out there in the first place. He told us he'd never leave someone out there. We had to call the local police and tell them that we needed to stay overnight as we could not get anyone to tow our cargo trailer. When the police came to look over the situation they had suggested Les to us, within minutes he was out and towed us to his shop. This was all close to closing time, we stayed overnight and the next day he had a new hitch on for us and we were on the road again. I must tell you that every other place including Camping World said it would take a week to get another Hitch in and AAA towing was booked for hours! This man was honest, understanding and I would recommend him to anyone. By the way, his price was half of what I would pay at Camping World....His workmanship was wonderful. That was a Friday near closing time...they gave me a ride 30 miles to Vernon, Tx so I could rent a uhaul and finish my journey...week later the trucks done...getting back to Quanah on greyhound was an entirely separate disaster (greyhound sucks, neva will I ride again) but the very kind lady working at Quanah Service Center was super patient with the 24-48 hour bus delays and cancelations but I did finally pick up my truck! SUPERB & QUALITY SERVICE! On Sunday, October 3, 2021, the…read moreSerpentine Belt on our truck broke between Childress and Quanah Texas on Hwy 287. We were pulling a travel trailer at the time. Called our insurance company for a tow. The towing company called for our location and informed us that they were 1-1/2 hrs. away and that they were only able to tow our truck, not the trailer, and they were not able to carry any passengers either. That meant we were going to have to leave our trailer on the side of the road, find a ride to the nearest town and get a hotel. What a NIGHTMARE! Since we were only approximately 4 miles west of Quanah, Tx, we decided to Google "towing near us" and Quanah Service Center came up. So we called them and explained our situation and location. Trey and Jeff were there in less than 30 minutes. They towed both Truck & Trailer and pulled us up to their store parking lot. They plugged our travel trailer up to their shop so that we could use it to sleep in and be comfortable. They made it a point to make us feel comfortable and safe. They told us they would order the part needed to repair the truck first thing in the morning and would have us back on the road by noon. They came by later that night to check on us and to see if we needed anything. The next day the part arrived, they repaired our truck, inspected it, and the trailer, checked and filled our tires and had us back on the road before noon as promised. Not only did we receive the BEST SERVICE ever, the cost of that entire ordeal was unbelievably lower than we had expected. The entire staff at Quanah Service Center are the Best in Texas! All were super friendly and accommodating and we just can't say enough good things about them.
