I have been using them for years (more then 10) for shots and things, they put down 2 of my dogs…read moreover the years, one for Cancer and one for Old Age, but I never really NEEDED them, until last Saturday, July 27 2019. They had met my new male cat about 3 months previous for his rabies and Distemper first shots. Had him checked over and he is in excellent health. I got him to keep Maggy, my miniature Dachshund company. Her friend and my main dog had passed away at 15 years old, Chloe. Maggy had started barking non-stop if I went out and left her alone after Chloe died. So I knew someone and I got buddy and the barking stopped and they got along great. March 2019 was his 1 year birthday. Then around july 10 2019 Maggy passed away right here at home. She was also 15 years old. Buddy seemed to take it hard looking for maggy for about a week then he started to come around. Then on the 25 of July around 11pm Buddy started acting strange meowing a lot and he peed in the Tub and the Kitchen sink, which was weird? Then Friday afternoon he started throwing up. And he was making these painful screeching sounds. Then it all stopped for a while but he would not eat and he was not drinking. Then around 12am he started drinking and by 1 am he was peeing and squeaking in pain. I felt so bad for him and now he was peeing pure blood!! I was afraid of the blood loss also. So at 9am Saturday morning I walked into the vets office to make sure they were open then ran back and got buddy. I came in and told you it was an emergency and he was bleeding and lost a lot of blood! He was so weak he couldn't walk. Do you remember your answer to me after you looked at the other girl and the monitor? "Come back at 9:45" I was shocked and I said I don't know if he will make it another hour ! then you said "well sir we have other customers" as I looked around seeing I was the only one there. I said I am a customer and I have been a customer a long time and I need you to help my cat!! And you told me to come back at 9:45 I could not believe how heartless you bunch are to refuse to look at a one year old cat who has lost blood and still bleeding and in bad shape. I left and went to another vet that I have never been to before and when they saw the cat they took him from me right away no questions asked. They had him hooked on Intravenous within a minute to help his pain and more. Buddy didn't make it and I am sure your delaying his treatment didn't help. BTW, you sent me a card when Maggy past a couple of weeks ago. Maggy was a Dog and you sent me a photo of a cat? I won't need your services anymore, I would never bring another animal to put in your care in fear of what may happen should you fall behind schedule a few minutes. When I walked out of your office on Saturday with my half dead cat bleeding from his penis, I was disgusted with the way the situation was handled. Your business is all about money and nothing about the love of animals. And money was not even a question at the time. I probably ended up paying a lot more at a strange vet when they were swamped and there was no one in your offices when I left. I would not recommend these people to anyone.

The team is amazing, from the reception employees, the techs and the veterinarians... All truly amazing and caring for our furry baby! We have an Australian Shepherd and some medication is known to be an issue for the breed, they were on it before we even asked. They answered all our (many) questions, are always patient with us, and are not gauging on medication, shoots, food, etc. We feed our dog raw food and the vet explained the pros and cons of raw food, provided us with tips on ensuring our dog has a healthy and balanced diet, etc. We have sinced moved from downtown and the extra drive is worth it! Their hours and availability are incredible... Don't get me wrong, they are busy and this whole COVID distanciation is not helping, but we have had a few emergencies where they were able to see us withing fantastic timelines (within minutes in some cases), squeezing us between two patients or first thing in the morning if a vet was available. They have always been extremely gentle with our dog... A true testament to the love and care the whole team as Centretown Vet. Hospital is how excited our Aussie is when we go! She truly reacts as if this were her Disneyland and the staff her best friends! Would recommend in a heartbeat

We took our dog, Oliver, in for a checkup and vaccines, and Dr. Dhaliwal will be our new vet going forward. I found him to be knowledgeable, soft spoken, and kind. We let him and his assistant know that we weren't interested in unnecessary services and only wanted the basic animal care, and he administered the vaccines and didn't push us to bring Ollie in for a teeth cleaning procedure or tooth extractions which seems to be the thing at these big business vet operations. Our other dog only had basic care - yearly check ups and regular vaccines - and lived to be almost 15. We don't believe in a lot of the 'preventive' care options that cost a fortune and are pushed on people regularly at the bigger animal hospitals. Walkley Animal Hospital is just right for us.

He came up with a treatment plan after my pet's original clinic immediately pushed for euthanasia. As devastating as the news was, Dr. Dhaliwal and his staff (Tina and Eden) saw my baby weekly to try and keep him alive and healthy. When weekly treatments failed after a few months, it was the most heart-breaking decision to put my Baby Chico to sleep. Dr. Dhaliwal made the process calm and not traumatic and gave us all the time we needed to say goodbye. He also reassured me that we had done all we could do. Thank you, Eden, for taking care of Chico, and thank you to Tina for helping me secure Chico's remains. Also, thank you to the team for sending me the sympathy card, it touched my heart.

The vet's textbook knowledge about rabbits was top notch and she is clearly well informed about their care, diet and medical issues. However, there are a number of things she didn't know about angora rabbits specifically, and I don't expect her to, but she came down pretty hard on me for things which she thought were wrong but are 100% normal for angora rabbits (for example, small bald patches after they shed is normal, as is a high protein diet to help them produce all that fur). When I explained that it was common for angoras, instead of saying "oh, I'll look into it, I haven't worked with many angoras", she argued with me and suggested he had mites, or was going to get fat, etc. I also find her very dramatic - for example, a couple of small mats were a big deal to her, as were longish claws. I had actually clipped them a few days before but had erred on the side of caution because it was my first time. They were NOT that long - in fact, when she clipped them, she cut the quick and he bled all over the place. She did a good job on the exam and even brought out the clippers to take off a few of the mats he had on his belly. The neuter and her follow-ups were excellent and much appreciated - she called me as soon as he was done surgery to confirm everything was good. She suggested other treatments or tests I might like to have but didn't really push or upsell them. I probably wouldn't go back because I came away, each time, feeling like I was a bad pet owner and that my rabbit was at death's door. And since neither of those things is true I don't want to feel that way. However, I would recommend them to others who keep "common" breed rabbits, and to those who are a little more insensitive to scary "oh, I don't like the looks of this small fur mat!" type of comments. So in closing although I probably wouldn't go back it's not a quality of care issue, it's a bedside manner issue. And it's certainly not a price issue because the prices were very fair. I paid about $300 total for the initial exam, the neuter, and the pain meds post-neuter.
