First time staying at any Holiday Inn. I was staying here for the last 02 weeks for training at…read moreFLETC. I gotta say that the staff here were amazing. Lorita and Nicole at the front desk were awesome. They were friendly and helpful. I asked like 100 questions and she was either super patient with me with a smile or she's an awesome actress lol. Anyways, the house keepers were also awesome. Everyday I'd come back from training and my room is exactly how it was when I first came. I was allowed to do some homework in their Business Center and get professionally drunk lol. It's like $95 a night which is dirt cheap compared to Hawaii. I wish sometimes Hawaii was cheap like this. No matter, nothing beats Hawaiis weather, beaches, and the fresh drinking water. That is one thing I will definitely not miss is the stink weird recycled water that tastes funny too. But that's all over Georgia even at FLETC. I can't handle these 30 degree weathers. Thank you for your hospitalities and all that you guys do for us students. What I thought kind of sucked was that they only have 01 Laundry Room with only 01 set of washer/dryer machines for the entire building. Their Fitness Room is really a room with only 03 treadmills. And their Business Center (Computer Room) is really just a corner in the Main Lobby area with 01 computer and printer. So we had about 30 guys in only my class sharing everything. There's a lot of parking and they're conveniently close to eateries and shopping. They have a Millhouse Steakhouse which was pretty good especially for the price.

Was greeted promptly when entered, got checked in immediately. Didn't really have time due to the…read moretime to look over the entrance and the main area of the hotel went straight up to the room. The only USB ports they had were on the TV itself. There was none on any of the lights or any plug-ins within the room so make sure you bring a plug-in adapter for any of your charging devices. Other than that nice place to stay.

Really disappointed with the mansion…read more This place was once the epitome of low country luxury with fantastic grounds and an opulent home; however, since the property has been under the ownership and control of the State of Georgia, the location has fallen into disrepair. Such a shame given the property's potential. The ceilings are caving in and leak whenever it rains. Half of the bathrooms are unusable. The food is fine, nothing great. The breakfast is cold with no option of warm food. Lunch is sandwiches and basic store bought salad. The dinner is very standard. Nothing remarkable. There are no snacks between meals, so bring snacks if you like to eat. The staff, while very kind, are not incentivized to provide an excellent stay and are remarkably ignorant about the local flora and fauna, which is surprising given the University of Georgia's satellite campus located less than 1/4 mile away. A child asked our "guide" if pelicans come to island, to which our guide said, "Nope, never." So when we biked to the beach (1 mile away) and saw hundreds of pelicans, our child was surprised. Our "guide" also was more concerned about getting his cash payment before going out to fish than he was about getting the poles rigged up and accommodating the older and younger members of our group. When trying to plan around weather, our "guide" said we'd have to pay twice if we tried on Day 1 and it got rained on, he was force us to give him the fishing poles back and then if we wanted to try to fish again on Day 2, then we'd have to pay again. For a purported "family friendly" and "educational" property surrounded by water, one would expect basic gear and educated resources be available at the location and not be difficult to access. I can't tell you how disappointing this place is. It has the potential to be an incredible place to learn, relax, and adventure but the ineptitude of government leadership and stewardship of taxpayer money has resulted in an overall sad excuse of a property. The taxpayers of Georgia who pay for the upkeep of this property must demand better, and if the government officials say "our hands are tied", then sell the property to a group who can actually take care of it and restore it.
