This is a huge farmer's market with vendors offering pastries, cheeses, meats, pastas, coffee, apparel, breads, and much more! I came here expecting to buy just a couple of pastries and wound up with enough to fill almost two tote bags. Since parking can be a challenge, I recommend getting here right when the market starts at 8. I've been eating my way through my finds and everything so far has been delicious. I'm still dreaming of the ham and cheese croissant I had for my lunch while hiking! Masks seem to be required for vendors, but are optional for patrons. I did see quite a few people wearing masks if they had small children who would be unvaccinated. I greatly enjoyed meeting the vendors and learning about their products. There are some interesting, highly unique offerings here. One of my favorite vendors is Roots and Branches -- they offer artisan crackers, flatbreads, and baked goods. I've gotten their products at other locations, but was delighted to meet them here as well. Their crackers are the best I've had anywhere and would be a great accoutrement to any cheeses you may also pick up here!

Parking is usually quite easy and free as there are people frequently coming and going. Going local is the thing here, little farms, organic or not are selling their fruit and vegetables. There is also bread , natural cosmetics, plants, herbs , cheese, meat and seafood. You can get coffee, cold or hot. Sometimes they have music also and there are usually places to sit and just let the Saturday morning go by. There are Farms selling their wares from Hendersonville, Marshall and Big Ivy and other close by places , the vendors are generally people that work at the farms they are representing, they know what it takes to get things on their farm going and can answer your question. There is fruit and vegetables sold that are seasonal, no citrus , mangos or other tropical fruit although lots of times I m surprised what all is able to grow in WNC. I come here a lot, I like to support these farms and it's a nice community, tourists are not seen a lot it's the real AVL!

We were pleasantly surprised by the superb quality of their offerings. Their zucchini and squash were flawlessly presented. They had beautiful strawberries by the bucket. Their frozen meat products were plentiful and they had an array of honeys, jams, and relishes. Ice cream is very much on the menu at the farm whether it be on a cone, cup, or in a shake. The best part was going in the back with my wife where she picked wild flowers (no charge), along with sunflowers (huge). I highly recommend visiting the Johnson Family Farm. We were not expecting much when we got there, but left knowing we would return. I hope this helps.
