Got a brow piercing there and the staff was so sweet and attentive. They saw other clients quickly and were very fun and chatty. My piercer, Ramona, went over all care, made sure I wasn't anxious, and let me adjust and get everything perfect before starting. Very horrible tattoos by Meg, Scooter went in there and got a tattoo by her and she did such a horrible job you can't even tell what the tattoo is. Don't know how this business Is still open with the shitty artwork. Now he has to pay even more money to get it fixed, Meg charged him 100$ an hour for this shitty work. There's more than 20 hours of work that was put into his arm and his arm completely defaced: This isn't the first time I've heard about this horrible place, my best friend went there for 2 piercings and was completely botched and had to remove her piercings because of infection, and they were placed wrong and completely ruined her nipples. The owner is lucky she is not getting sued for BOTCHING her customers. UPDATE: After posting my review, We've had people from that Tattoo shop speeding up and down the street honking/screaming. just got 2 piercings here and they messed them up so badly that I had to go to a different shop to get one of the piercings removed immediately and the other was crooked. I called and asked if they could give me a refund on the one that I had taken out because I got it less than 20 minutes before I had it taken out and they said no but they can re-pierce it for free..... why would I want them to re-pierce me if they messed up so badly the first time? $80 for two piercings and one was taken out immediately while the other was crooked. now I know why everyone says go to Good Family Tattoo, they know what they're doing and Black Lace Ink clearly doesn't know what they're doing. read more

Came here for the first time with my sister and It's an "all girls shop", well kinda. But they are all nice. I believe Erica did my nose piercing. She was great, she cleaned my nose before and after while explaining to me everything. I even started to not feel good and she ran and got me a soda to make me feel better! Thanks Erica!!! I ended up going to another shop in lake villa for a second opinion and they told me they pierced it way too deep into my nipple and the jewelry they used was way too small. Extraordinarily clean, warm and inviting, spacious, full of incredibly talented artists who go above and beyond to ensure you love their work. You will walk out completely satisfied with a gorgeous new piece of artwork, I know, as I have numerous times. I walked into Black Lace Ink, in hopes to get a Tattoo redone, as I did not like what another shop did to my chest piece, I will not name names but it rhymes with (Liberty Tattoo 'aka' also the shop that will not call you back to schedule a touch up, or to talk about a complaint in a reasonable manner). Meg was the Artist I saw when I walked into Black Lace Ink and she was kind enough to reassure me that it can be fixed, and made to look how I want. So I made the appointment for the following week and wow, she did great. Well beyond my expectations. They also have this organic spray that takes a bit of the sting away from a tattoo as its being done, I normally like the sting but to redo and fix an already scared up tattoo on your chest, it was greatly appreciated. Anyway I loved my experience there so much, in fact, that I've come back several times since to get more Tattoos from Meg - one black and purple, other full color, another a 3D slate rock design, and then I am currently working on a sleeve which will be many sittings. My Tats are absolutely beautiful and I love how they look. If I were to ever recommend a shop it would be them, I have sent several people to them and most recently my wife was tattooed and received a 2 piercings. My wife had never been Tattooed before and Meg put her at ease without coddling her, she appreciated her ideas and applied her own style accordingly, and did top-notch work without an air of pretension. Got a double cartilage piercing 2-3 weeks ago and it has healed so nicely!! I have super sensitive ears and they usually give me problems with piercings and I have zero complaints beside it being a little sore after but that's a given. I was very excited to get a tattoo at this place. Really appreciated that it is female owned and when I went in for the consultation (which i deposited about 60% of the total tattoo cost!!) the people seemed nice enough. After the few week wait for my actual appointment, I get an email from my artist saying she would have to reschedule letting me know the next day. I did not hear from her. a few days later, I emailed her asking if she was alright and when we could reschedule. No reply. 4 more days go by with nothing so I call the shop and leave a message asking what's up. i finally get a rude email back with her saying that my patience had run thin and their refund policy does not cover impatience. This all would have been avoided if she had gotten back to me when she said she would. Due to the tone of her email i decided to take my business elsewhere and she refuses to refund my money. Keep in mind, my consultation was literally 15 minutes and I have NO tattoo to show for it. very disappointed. Bad business. read more

i had my nose pierced for over 4 years when i knocked the stud out. by the time i got home from work to replace it the inside appeared to have closed and i was super upset so the next day i went to Black Lace to have it redone. the piercer was super professional and fixed it for me right away without having to fully repeirce it. i love this shop, it's really close to home and all the girls are so friendly and welcoming! read more

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! I had my tragus done and they used too small of jewelry and it got lodged in my ear 2 days after getting pierced. I went back and I had to get a bigger size bar in my tragus which really hurt and she put a labret jewelry in it with a curved bar. About a week later i noticed it was still very swollen and sore and getting bumps on both sides. I asked the piercer what was going on and she told me to pop it. I've had a number of piercings in the past and I know you should never pop something like that. I decided to just let it be and a month passed and nothing was happening it was still in so much pain, swollen, looked infected and bleeding when the jewelry would be moved. I didn't wanna go back to Black Lace Ink because at this time i did not trust what she had done. So I had to drive an hour Chicago to go to the piercer that i have always went to in the past. Just to be told that whoever did this did it VERY WRONG. He had told me it was wedged into the wrong part of the cartilage and would likely never heal right especially because of the curved bar in there. I had to get it taken out. I WOULD NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS PLACE. DO NOT RECOMMEND!! read more

Serena does great work. I am very happy with my tattoo but I had a horrible experience scheduling with her. I first saw her in January for a consultation we went over what I wanted and she sized it up. She originally quoted me a ridiculous price and got defensive when I said something. Which I believe we both had different ideas of what I was looking for. After that she scheduled me a month out so that she could come up with some drawings which was ok with me. I then went and looked at what she came up with. It was amazing and she was to do the final drawing, she then again scheduled me a month later to actually do that tattoo. I was to be there at 1:30 figuring we would start at 2. When I got there she had nothing drawn up and didn't even remember we finalized the drawing. She then had to draw and make the stensil. I sat there for 2.5 hours while she did all this. Not a word was said to me the entire time. Finally we started the tattoo. The outline took about 6 hours. it was the least painful experience i have had at that point. She was very prompt on making sure I was comfortable through out. After she finished the outline she again scheduled me for 6 weeks out she wanted the outline to fully heal my issue with that is everyone else I know waited about 2 weeks. I went back after 6 weeks and she did a 3 hour session. And again scheduled me a month later. I waited the month and showed up to the shop and sat there for about 15 minutes before Meg came up and told that Serena had a family issue and she was not coming in today. Was not told this before I drove almost an hour she then took and entire week to respond to my rescheduling request. And AGAIN made me wait another month. At this point I'm frustrated so I said that I need to get as much done as posdible due to the fact that it's taking so long and I originally told her I wanted it done before summer. She happily scheduled me for 6 hours on a Saturday. I show up and she starts tattoo me and tells me that she is gonna do about 4 hours of work because she had something she had to do that night. I asked her why only 4 and not 6 like she said and she didn't say anything for about 10 minutes and then changed the subject. I asked her how much longer until it's done and she literally told me 2 hours. SHE COULD HAVE FINISHED IT. But instead she didn't. So I then told her I cannot wait another month because I have a vacation planned. So she told me she would leave an entire day open for me in case I got off work at a decent time the following Tuesday which is perfect because I'm usually off of work at around 3 and the shop closes at 9. Perfect. I messaged her early in the morning 830-9 letting her know I'd be able to make it in that day. She responded a couple hours later with perfect I have to get out of here at 5 because I have an appointment at 6.That wasn't going to work for me because I wouldnt of been able to get there until 4. I asked her why she told me she had all day when she really didn't and she responded with all day until I had to leave at 5. Should have clarified my thought was ya think? Disappointed with Serena I messaged her later letting her know I was not happy with how long it's taking and I need to get in at some point this week. I have 2 hours left and this is taking forever. Her response was unprofessional telling me that she's sorry I'm disappointed and that she has things in her personal life that she needs to take care of too. I'm sorry but I'm paying you for a service and everyone has stuff going on in their personal life. She has 2 days off a week like everyone else. The shop opens at 1 giving her plenty of time to do stuff before she works. She then told me she had a 2 hour window on that Saturday. I said ok. Keeping my cool I got there and I could feel the tension. in the past visits all of the ladies were nice and said hello, but this time not a word was said to me. She was not herself and I felt as if I was an inconvenience. She then had me sit in the shittiest position possible. I am a taller guy and sat in a chair that was made for the average Joe. I was uncomfortable and she knew it. I didn't want to say anything because I felt like if I did there would have been an issue. Then the tattooing started. As I stated before she was very prompt on making sure I was comfortable, but not for this session. The tattoo was rough. She worked the shit out of the same spot for what felt like forever. It was like she did in on purpose because she didn't like that I was upset. She barely spoke and had headphones in for the last half. And when she was done she barely cleaned up the spot and quickly wanted to take pictures for her portfolio. She then wrapped it up and sent me on my way. I wanted to thank her for because I do appreciate the artwork and she didn't want to hear what I had to say. She then sent me upfront to pay and that was it. I got the most simple tattoo. Coexist with a peace sign on my wrist. I saw that the peace sign was uneven and asked my artist to touch it up. She said it was just the stencil and that it will be fine when she is finished. She wiped off and cleaned my whole tattoo, touched up the letters, and left the peace sign alone... I had already asked her to fix it, I will not be going in for a touch up because I asked right away for her to fix it. I will be doing business elsewhere. This shop is close to home and looked very nice. I just don't understand how she didn't think it needed to be fixed right away. Maybe she just didn't care enough.
