Bright and airy with loads of seating, we were able to find a seat straight away and ordered some ciders. We were in luck, because the pear cider was on offer, so we got away pretty cheaply here. Two women running the bar, the locals were friendly and welcoming. There was a jukebox and the selection of music was really great. When a song that came on that many people knew, we'd all start singing along and had a great time! It felt great to feel like one of the locals! Definitely a pub to check out if you're in the area. Great people and great fun!

This pub doesn't look like much from the outside, but once inside, it's quite bright and lots of seating available. We ordered drinks from one of the friendliest bartenders around and sat down to enjoy. He later came around to say hi and to see what were up to. We could tell that this is very much a locals pub but we were welcomed with open arms and treated as though we were locals ourselves. I really enjoyed that about this pub. We only stayed for one drink, but would be back in a second the next time we're in town.

The layout of this pub is quite long with seating along the side of the building opposite the enormous bar. I can imagine this place needing multiple bartenders to take drink orders if this place was every super packed. Because we were here mid week, we were one of a handful of couples in the pub, but that didn't take away from the great time we had. The bartender was really friendly and made us felt like one of the locals. We ordered our drinks and took a seat. We later realised that they had scampi fries for sale, which we really love, so we bought a couple of bags. Try them if you haven't, they really go well with a bevvy. The music playing here was some 'vintage' TV channel, and it was amazing. We got to chatting about various songs and how great they were. More people eventually came in for drinks or to play pool on the table just beyond the tables, so the place livened up after a while. We would definitely come back if we were ever back on the island.

One of the first things I spotted when I got off the ferry was a sign for this pub which mentioned…read more'craft beer', which I kept noted for later. After brunch, a sightseeing bus tour, and walking around for a couple of hours, it is now Beer O'clock. I still feel a bit like the city tourist going into a local old mans' pub ("excuse me, what's the wi-fi password?") but it's a nice place for grabbing a pint. I like the light in the ladies toilet, it's very muted and quite deceptive in that I don't look as red in the face and windblown as I'm sure I do. Handdryer is rubbish. There is a sign on the door forbidding food & drink, which is a bit unusual to see on a toilet door. The craft beers seem to total a Williams Bros option 'Fraoch' and their local beer by Bute Brew Co. The local choice is a nice pale beer, I'd probably opt for the Fraoch for my next one though. They're dog friendly and have wifi (internet signal has been a bit hit and miss over the day). Can't see any sign of food but I already have a place scouted for dinner. :)
