The theatre sells snacks and drinks, and has a cute lobby for us to be in but by cute I mean tiny I think the brick around the interior is really pretty with the other stone accents around the interior walls The seats are comfy but space can get cramped if two big people sit next to each other; this could create an unenjoyable experience. I had to get up and move because of this, but the show wasn't full and it allowed for a spontaneous seat swap

Wish I had taken a photo of the stage before the play started to share here. Two story stage worked well in how we were able to see the characters in private conversations which switched so smoothly between scenes. The play is set in 1937, in the Great Depression with the hardships of earning enough money to meet the family's needs. Serious subjects with lots of humor thrown in. Tears and lots of laughter. All the actors were amazing. So pleased Terry found a cast with so much dedication to the craft, down to perfect accents!

They're advertised as a local theater, but the caliber of the talent was phenomenal. The actors transported us back in time to tell this beautiful and sad story. We thoroughly enjoyed the performance, so much so that we already got tickets for their next play, "Beer for Breakfast" (Oct 17-Nov 2, 2025).

CST has a great reception area with art on display and they sell drinks including cocktails, and snacks. The theatre scene is alive and well in Oklahoma. We also like Jewel Box Theatre and the Civic Center. The play's description: Winn Dottie and Ruth Hamilton have always kept their lives in order, living each day in rural isolation and contentment. All of that changes when the sheriff drops a battered teenager on their doorstep and asks them to keep them safe. The question is--can these two older women get past their own ingrained ideas of how life should be to protect a teenager they don't even understand? Harpe's Dance was able to help us out, they paired us with our instructor Liz, and it was a match made in heaven. She helped us select from a few of our favorite songs and put together an adorable swing dance to Ray Charles' "Hallelujah, I Love Her So". Working with Liz was an absolute pleasure. We spent every lesson laughing and having a great time, and we always left breathless and with huge smiles on our faces. At our wedding, everyone was blown away when we started twirling and twisting instead of the slow revolve everyone expected. We received so many compliments and we'll be talking about this for years to come. We can't wait to come back for weekly classes, who knew that we could dance? Liz knew!

She was so excited when she got there, all dressed up in her costume! 12 family members purchased tickets and attended. She had one dance. When her group went onstage in the dark, we heard crying. It was her. The director scooped her up and took her offstage. She was not allowed to return to her group when the lights came up, not allowed the chance to dance (though she knew it by heart) and had to sit out. The director explained to her mom the she couldn't have crying on the video. So, after the thousands of dollars spent, including recital and picture fees, our 3 year old was not allowed to participate. We were so disappointed! Kudos to her parents for blaming the director and not a 3 year old child! The director did not live up to the values posted on this site, two of which are "to instill self-confidence" and "to instill self-respect". Though it win't make up for this, It would be appropriate, at this point, for the director to offer to return all the recital fees and also offer the parents an apology. We shall see what happens.

As I sat on the new lawn, only 100 feet from the new stage and 200 feet from where my mother was born in my grandparents first home in the old city center Czech neighborhood, I admired the clarity, excellent precision, and beautiful sound of the Czech musical program: the Slavonic Dance of Antonin Dvořak, and later the incredibly rich tone poem "Vltava" from Ma Vlast by Bedřich Smetana, lifted me to join their spirits. Our Czech family heritage lives, and Oklahoma City has a jewel it should appreciate more in this Oklahoma City Philharmonic. Maestro Mickelthwaite added his quirky and entertaining leadership and kindly noted that we, the audience, were all sitting on the very heart of the original 1890s Oklahoma City (remember, it was only 3 square miles back then, not the 600 square miles we suffer from today!) And he pointed outward to the west side of the park where the old historic Czech Hall is still standing, ready for the opening of its Beer Garden, and a new program of music for our city and lots of Polka Dancing for our children (ages 2 to 102). And it is the wealth of musical talent and experience from these members of the Oklahoma Philharmonic who will contribute to that new music venue at the Czech Hall of Oklahoma City, Lodge Laska. In thinking about the symphony, I can't help but to wonder about my ancestors…read more.. Under the Habsburg dynasty in Vienna, my old family contributed to the fabric of the city for centuries. While Mozart composed works of unrivaled and unprecedented beauty-- the likes of "Symphony No. 25," "Lacrimosa," and "Dies Irae"-- and later Strauss, famed for his classic waltz piece, and likewise an ode to the city's famed Danube, my ancestors proudly called Vienna home. They watched the city rise to become the heart of culture in Europe, and they remained in the city until nearly a decade after World War II. Now, here I am in a place that is the polar opposite of Austria's esteemed capital. The Oklahoma City Philharmonic certainly leaves something to be desired. While anything "Oklahoma City (insert cultural venue here)" makes one want to pinch the city on the cheek and say, "oh, that's so cute!" it still leaves a cultural void and vacancy for the would-be attendee. Their schedule is quite sporadic and erratic, and performances are relatively far apart from each other. This is in contrast to the New York Philharmonic, where musicians perform frequently and almost year-round. Sadly, it seems that musicians in the Oklahoma City Philharmonic need to request a night off from their shifts at Starbucks to perform on the occasional night they do have a show. I do give it two stars for effort, and being a step or two above what one might expect: "A Night With Toby Keith: An Orchestral Experience of a Homegrown Maestro"...or "Blue Collar Opera: Featuring Larry the Cable Guy and Brett Butler in a duet of 'Libiamo ne'lieti calici', Bill Engvall singing "Habanera" and Jeff Foxworthy performing 'O mio babbino caro'." While it seems to have managed to stay around, this organization needs some improvement, but methinks the local market will not support an expansion.
