I contacted Black Belt Excellence (Master Kim) in early September regarding Hapkido lessons and he explained the BBE program, including the importance of exercise, good sportsmanship and confidence. I thought his explanation was well rounded, carefully thought-out and socially appropriate. (eg: respect based, not violence oriented) He invited me to partiipate in classes for a month to get a good understanding of the program before actually commiting to the sport and attending regular classes. After attending four weekly sessions, I then decided to continue with the program and even at that point, Master Kim offered me additional "free" classes if needed. Since becomming a regular attender, I have observed nothing but friendly and caring instructors, professional instruction and Master Kim continuing to make time as needed for my questions and for working on my personal technique. Additionally, my fellow students are polite and respectful -- following the model of the school. The bulk of the BBE program is Taekwondo, but Hapkido and Aikido are also offered. I would recommend this program to anyone -- from young children through senior citizens. First and foremost, martial arts are about respect and good health and I have found this to be an excellent program. read more
