Traveling with a 5 month old baby can be a challenge at times I will admit. Fun must of the time, for sure. But finding the right restaurants becomes just a little more of a challenge because of the added dimension that a youngster brings to the table. So to speak. BL Lounge attracted us because other Yelpers noted it was family friendly. Good enough for us! What was there not to like? Nothing. To like! First of all the slightly eclectic purple decor, matched by the super friendly, perfectly attentive waitresses shirts. Nice touch. ......Damn it has been so long since I started this that I have risky then what we actually are. What I do remember is that it was excellent. The octopus here is amazing. Even after eating in Lisbon for a week, this place in Évora had the best dish I've had in Portugal so far. The octopus was perfectly cooked and the sauce flavors were perfect. My wife had the pork loin with cauliflower/egg scramble. But that name hardly adequate to describe how yummy that was. We had a relaxing and special evening that was enhanced with warm and attentive service. The restaurant offers plentiful choices of of apps, main dishes and an extensive wine list. My wife had the prawns with risotto and I had the octopus special that was extremely tender and flavorful. From the gracious welcome to the chocolate dessert, we thoroughly enjoyed dining at BL. Our server, Claudia, made excellent suggestions (and her English is very good!) so we enjoyed traditional starters of creamy potatoes, and carrots in olive oil and garlic. This is the first, and likely only, time you'll find me excited about carrots. These were divine! I had lamb chops and a traditional 'tomato bread' dressing, made with the requisite olive oil and garlic, and also bay leaf and bread crumbs and a bit of egg yolk - I know this because the chef/owner came out and generously shared her recipe and methods. I'm still feeling guilty about the heavenly warm chocolate dessert. (Just do it.) We shared a bottle of Alentejano Branca (local white blend) with a mineral edge just sharp enough to stand up to my lamb and my friend's curried shrimp, without being intrusive.
