I had a very concerning experience with this business that I feel other neighbors should be aware…read moreof. I contacted Kangan's Custom Cakes simply to inquire about having a birthday cake made. During our conversation, I was directly asked, "Are you Muslim?" I was stunned. My religion--or whether I practice any religion at all--had absolutely nothing to do with ordering a birthday cake. Being questioned about my religion during a business interaction made me feel singled out, judged, and extremely uncomfortable. What concerns me further is that the business has since publicly responded to my review and acknowledged that the question was asked, while attempting to explain the context in which it was asked. For me, the context does not change how inappropriate and unsettling that question felt. I have screenshots of the original conversation, including the "Are you Muslim?" message, sent from the business phone number listed on record. I am sharing only what I can document. I ultimately chose not to do business with them. I'm sharing my experience because neighbors deserve to know how a prospective customer was spoken to and can make their own decision about where they choose to spend their money.

OMG- so grateful to have a friend who always thinks of me and loves to share food! LOL. The ube cream cake was a little firmer than the mainstream American/ Asian style cream cakes. That 4" by 4" all-purple piece of cake was good- Not overly sweet and just simply good. Over and above that, the ube bread rolls were pure deliciousness. The individually wrapped bread rolls were extremely soft and fluffy like Japanese milk bread. The sweet ube cream filling would be my favorite part of those fluffiest bread rolls. I have enjoyed all her baked goods, especially her strawberry and chocolate cakes! They are rich in flavor and do not taste artificial. Calligraphy/engravings: I have grown to appreciate the special touch a personalized name card or sign because of my experience with Gloria. For our wedding, Gloria completed hand calligraphy for over 200 name cards beautifully and kept up with our guest updates. It was a nice treat and gift we gave to each of our special guests as well. I have many guests who took photos and their name cards home as a highlight from our wedding. For my bridal shower, Gloria also provided all signs - from calligraphy food name cards to welcome sign, these touches greatly elevated the overall experience for everyone!
