I slipped and fell a little over a month ago, landing on my face and needed a lot of work to get my front teeth fixed. I called first thing in the morning after this happened and Dr. Denis was able to take me in right away. After assessing my situation, he began work on my smile immediately. He made me feel so comfortable, I was nice and numb while he was working on me (my first visit took almost 3 hours). I was very upset about what had happened to my teeth and he put me at ease, explaining that he was going about helping me the same way he would if it was his wife in his chair. I've had about 5 visits in the past month and a half, with at least 2 more to go, but I'm looking as good as new. I recommend him to everyone I meet. Even friends who live in the city I tell to come down to the suburbs and see him. He has really made a situation that could be so painful and ugly be somewhat easy and comforting. The next day after I saw Dr. Rohan and he made his recommenations for treatment I went into the office to have a cleaning done. I was again impressed with the friendly staff. The hygienist, Samantha was just wonderful. She gave me an excellent exam before the cleaning. She is very knowledgeable and compassionate. The heavy set assistant put the bib around me, asked if I wanted to watch tv, I said no, she left. About 12:15 I sat up in the seat to see if I could get someone's attention, to ask when I would be seen. The assistant came into the room and said, the doctor is with another patient she will be in shortly. I asked her, is this new, for patients to wait almost an hour before they are seen? She said, Dr. Marshall is on vacation so the other dentist is taking his patients. As we were speaking the Dentist walked into the room and said, what's the problem? I said, I've been waiting almost an hour. She said, no your appointment was at, before she could get it out I said, 1130 . She said, so you've been waiting about 30 minutes, it's 1210 I said no, it's actually 1220. She nonchalantly shrugged her shoulders and said, emergencies happen. The way she looked at me was as if to say, oh well, wait til I'm done. I began to fix my purse strap, she said, are you leaving ? I said yes because you're being very rude and inconsiderate. She said, nonchalantly, ok and walked to the front desk to tell the receptionist, i wasn't being seen because i didn't want to wait. I told her, no, I'm leaving because the dentist was being extremely rude to me. I left in shock! I couldn't believe she was as rude and inconsiderate as she was. It was as if she was doing me a favor or as if i was late and she had to wait on me. I waited almost an hour to be seen, not one time did anyone apologize for my wait or show any consideration for my time. I had to find a baby sitter for my three month old baby for this appointment just for the dentist to be extremely rude to me and waste my time. I would never give my business to this practice as long as she's there! I have referred so many people to this practice from SWA, including a few family members, but I will be sure to tell them about the experience I had today so they can find a new place to go as well. Dr Marshall didn't seem to be as rude and ignorant as the female dentist that works there. I hope you clean house because she will be the cause of you losing a lot of patients. My son has a rare genetic dental issue, and Dr. Laura took it upon herself to do a ton of research and training on his diagnosis in order to help him. During the appointment, she briefly pointed to something on my X-rays but never clearly explained what she saw, what the diagnosis was, or what treatment she was recommending. She began numbing my mouth and proceeded with significant drilling without first walking me through the procedure. When she finished, I had to ask, "Did you fill a cavity?" She simply answered, "Yeah," and continued talking about unrelated things. I left the appointment without a clear understanding of what had been found or exactly what had been done. Once the numbness wore off, the tooth felt rough and uneven, with something hanging from the bottom that I could feel with my tongue. I returned to my regular dentist. He smoothed and corrected the area. He told me that he had not seen a cavity on his recent X-rays, although he acknowledged that it was possible she found something that had not been visible before. He also told me the new pain could have resulted from the drilling and that I might eventually need a root canal if it did not resolve. It has now been 6months, and the tooth is still bothering me. I had never experienced pain in that tooth before this appointment. The dentist also recommended crowns for all of my teeth and submitted an estimate to my insurance, which later appeared on my Explanation of Benefits. I was never given a clear explanation for why such extensive treatment was necessary, especially since I had no pain, visible damage, loose teeth, or other known problems. I cannot speak to her motives, but I can speak to my experience. I did not feel properly informed, I did not feel included in decisions about my treatment, and I am still dealing with pain that began after the procedure. I do not recommend this dentist.
