The walls are plaster, with a beautifully textured brick wall on one side, and a selection of interesting, curated items adorn the space throughout. Of particular note is a major feature piece, a comfortable looking reupholstered vintage lounge. With pencils and colouring books for the kids, the café is spacious both inside and out, and there are plenty of aspects to find your favourite seat. Service was great, with staff proactive, friendly and always available when required. The coffee is a solid performer that one might expect to be consistent, without owning the show. Given the time of day, we both elected for burgers. The Ultimate (beef) burger was juicy and delicious, with a tasty combo of ingredients and sauces. The Kafta (lamb) burger also reported well, and no beer battered chips were left over. Whilst a bit far off the beaten track to be a destination, if you're passing through Pitt Town, I definitely recommend stopping in for a coffee and a bite.

This is a nice little cafe. It has two rooms for tables. We sat in the front room with a view of…read morethe street. You can be lucky to score a park outside but it is easier to park at Coles and walk down to the cafe. You have 3 hours rather than one if you use Coles parking. It has an old fashioned rustic decor to go with the advertised organic. There was a passing parade of locals who get their take away coffee too. We stayed for lunch and had a steak sandwich and salmon plate. The steak sandwich was good. The salmon plate needed a bit of dressing on the green stuff and perhaps capers with the salmon. The food was good. A bonus was that they have pepper and salt grinders on the table that work. The coffee was OK. We thought we would treat ourselves with a sweet of mint and orange chocolate balls. The mint one tasted of mint but we were not sure what the orange one tasted of. Both were nice. Table service was a bit disjointed as the staff seemed torn between doing a fridge stocktake and running after their outside side sign as it wasn't tethered and the wind was blowing a gale. Another reason for parking at Coles is that the cafe does not have a loo so you can do a detour before picking up the car.

Well furnished with a cosy country atmosphere and retro-cool items on display, this place is a must if you are in the area. Why also not stop by the nearby river afterwards for a scenic walk to work off that extra bacon.

Nothing flash but enough variety to suit most tastes & diets & the serving sizes are beyond generous. Nice deck out the back to have a drink &/or meal looking out on the trees. ONE OF THE WORST DINING EXPERIENCES OF MY ENTIRE LIFE…read more This pub has management issues - as in apparently no management and the staff running amok. Our visit was on or about November 29, 2012. I'm pretty sure it was a Thursday. Didn't know if Australia had Yelp at the time. We wanted to go there for the $10 rump steak dinner. First of all, my mother was told a different closing time than when I called. We didn't know the other one had called also. Don't they know when they close? YES THEY DO. When we met up at the bistro, I ordered a rump steak dinner for myself, my mother and my son. The chubby blonde lady working the bistro said it was $35 total (in OZ tax is included). I sensed her "attitude" but didn't want to ruin our dinner by calling her on her BS in that $10 X 3 does not equal $35. That would mean each steak dinner costs $11.66. But the sign out front says $10 rump steak (and tax is included). I describe her as a "chubby blonde" not to comment on her weight, but to identify her in light of the serious issues. She wasn't that overweight. I had an important phone call to make and didn't want to upset myself. I just considered the $5 as a tip for the staff. No hesitation from her whatsoever, and little doubt the extra $5 went into her pocket. She heard my American accent, thought I was a tourist, and presumed I didn't know what the hell is going on in Australia. She didn't know I was from there. This hotel is right next to Australian Pioneer Village, so they probably get a lot of tourist traffic. There was a table of local guys getting drunk and loudly swearing up a storm. Whatever. This is semi-rural Australia so it was not so unusual. A manager ought to quiet them down some, but there was apparently no manager around. But this next part takes the cake! Two in our party had finished eating, but I was still finishing up. While I was obviously still eating, the same blonde lady comes over and throws a used serviette / napkin on my unfinished plate while I'm sitting there with my knife and fork still in my hand. She then picks up the three plates and goes off to the kitchen. OUTRAGEOUS. Never have I experienced something like this in my entire life. Obviously she didn't have the patience to come back in just a couple of minutes. Too lazy to want to want to walk back a second time, also. I was so flabergasted I did not say a word because for sure it would have made a nasty scene because I have no doubt whatsoever this b@tch would have mouthed back at me. I WOULD HAVE GONE OFF, make no mistake about it. So there you have it, Yelp is ramping up in Australia and the Heritage Hotel has its first review as a big fat negative. Well-deserved I might add. BTW, when is Yelp going to grace us with a zero star option, instead of one star being the lowest?
