The welcome center seemed brand new and was really well done, with a small museum, plus access to the campground and tons of cabins available to rent. The hiking here is incredible. We did the Hemlock Gorge Trail, and it was just the right level of challenge while still being super enjoyable. The scenery was beautiful the entire way. I also highly recommend checking out the Little and Big Lyons waterfalls. It made for a great loop trail and was definitely a highlight. The park itself is very well maintained. We visited right after some heavy winds, so there were quite a few downed trees, but maintenance was already out there actively clearing and fixing things, which was impressive to see. Overall, such a beautiful park and a trip full of unforgettable memories.

That said you pay a hefty price so there should be some good "free" stuff to enjoy. We were in a fairly big lot for a pull through space. The pool was jampacked until Sunday morning. That was when we decided to visit it. There seems to be a lot of seasonal campers that are catered to. That is the first place we've stayed at that had a full bar! There is a small kitchen that does some great pizzas and chicken wings. Thursday through Sunday the kitchen is utilized for breakfast and lunches as well.

Rafting family trip…read more We went on a Saturday to canoe. We had two adults and 3 kids in our group. I asked what they would recommend based on the river conditions. I was told we could not fit all 5 of us in the canoe we would need a raft. We decided on the 3 mile trip since it was supposed to take 2 to 3 hours. It only took about an hour. For the price I would recommend taking the 7 mile trip since it was a lot of money for a short period of time.

There is good potential at this place, but it will still be at least another season before things…read moreare starting to come together. My biggest complaint is their snowmaking and grooming, which pales in comparison to their neighbors at snowtrails. Even with the addition of a massive fleet of TechnoAlpin fan guns this year, there was still sparse coverage on 2 of their main hills (off the double chair) after plenty of cold temp days. The groupon deals, and the lack of the crowds right now are both reasons why I would give them 4 stars. The staff was also generally happy, seemed like a "family run" kind of place. The potential lies in the terrain. They have a good glade run cut, and a natural snow trail that runs along a narrow ridge that is fun. If they cut more trails into the trees they would have a lot of variety fast. Watch out for icy sidewalks and parking lots for now.

New equipment is great but the food is horrible and only one lift open on Christmas break. Under new ownership and breaking ground for a ton of timeshares to be built in the next year I could only expect for this place to give you something fun to do in the middle of what the heck is there to do in Ohio! However, this is a great place to learn and practice. Keep an eye on Groupon to see about deals with this place and it may be worth the ride for you.

We booked The Mohicans cabin for a recent girl's weekend and a good time was had by all! I took…read moreadvantage of the cold weather rental special to get the large cabin for a group of friends. Getting to the resort would certainly be difficult in inclement weather (this is mentioned on their website, several times), so we planned to arrive before dark and on a relatively mild weekend. The cabin was cozy and well equipped, and very relaxing. As with many cabin experiences, there is ample sleeping space, but the living space is split between in doors and outdoors, so a bit tight if it's cold or rainy. The bedrooms were roomy, everybody was comfortable, and the kitchen was well equipped. There were plenty of dishes. We brought in trashbags and extra paper towels, and any kitchen 'extras' but the basics were all there, including plenty of coffee and sweeteners. The cabin did have wifi, but not all of the treehouses do, so chose wisely if that is important. We also enjoyed walking around the grounds and seeing the cute little treehouses.

Most of the wedding party rented one of the treehouses or cabins on property for the night. Treehouses are pretty tight quarters. The pictures online do not show the true scale of the cramped area. We stayed at the Killbuck cabin and loved it. With 2 upstairs bedrooms and a queen bed and 5 twins it was roomy. I only wish we could have stayed longer. My advice to the owners- invest in some good bedding and pillows. For the money it costs your sleep should be as dreamy as the venue.
