This bar was fantastic! In a two-night stay in Bergen, we frequented this bar each evening. Fred, the owner of the bar, gave us a great overview of some of the beers he offers during our first visit, around 5pm on Friday. The bar was pretty empty, but as time passed, young professionals started to roll in. In addition to two selections from a local microbrewery project on tap, there were plenty of bottle choices available. Some American beers were available, including a Sierra Nevada Torpedo (which I have never seen in the States). My friends and I stuck to the two draft options from the local brewery, one a dark ale, while the other was a wheat beer.
The following evening, we visited later in the evening, on a Saturday, to see a busier crowd of young professionals hanging out at the bar. The bartenders were quite attentive to the patrons. They even piped in the sound for the gold medal match in women's handball which was taking place that evening. Though I am not extremely familiar with the sport, it was great to see the patriotism on display.
Should I return to Bergen, regardless of where I stay, I would visit this neighborhood again and this pub in particular. read more
