We had a busy day in Bergen at the tourist stops, and headed into this pub to get out of the rain and the hustle and bustle of downtown Bergen. This pin was great. They had a decent selection of Scotch and Whiskey. The prices were steep as everything is in Bergen. They do not let you order a double as this is a rule in Norway. We could only order single shots at a time. Why? I don't know. This is a nice, quiet, relaxing pub to stop and get a drink. When we went, there was a local band playing and a lot of locals were hanging out here. I recommend this pub if you're looking for a relaxing hangout place.

Shave and a Haircut, Two Bits…read more A mere salmon toss away from Bergen's harbor fish market is the hybrid Irish pub/sports bar phenomenon known as Scruffy Murphy's. You know you have to investigate any pub with a name like that...especially when a five o'clock shadow is involved (though it's not required for admission). We had plans for dinner elsewhere, but decided to pop in for a quick drink and to check out the scene. Things were looking a bit hairy as to whether or not we'd find seating with the front patio full, and with most of the tables occupied on both floors of the dimly lit pub. We hoped to score one of the cozy nooks with a couch, but we settled with snagging the last window-side high top facing the fish market instead. It turns out we had prime pedestals for viewing the fishy pedestrian traffic, even if we felt a bit crowded in our spot. Surrounding us was a rowdy gaggle of locals watching the World Cup on several large screen TV's, some surely "Liverbirds" (the local Liverpool F.C. fan club that meets at the pub regularly.) "Liiiiiiiiverpooooool!" Service was prompt, and within minutes, I was drinking a Bavarian Erdinger Weissbräu while listening to country music in an Irish Pub in Norway! Jawohl! Prost! Others in our group ordered Hansa to restore our Norwegian street cred crushed by my German order, and a couple pints of Guinness crowned with shamrock foam art completed our round. Our only complaints were that our table was too close to those neighboring us, and we didn't find the bar stools to be comfortable. Other than that, we enjoyed our time at Scruffy's, though we aimed to find less touristy pubs for the remainder of our stay in Bergen. The drinks and laughs poured freely, we appreciated the casual vibe and built-in entertainment between the window and soccer fans, and the location was perfect for taking a break from sightseeing and shopping downtown. Easy ordering system at each table with a QR-code which works quick (personal experience between 22-24 on a Saturday). Dark and Stormy get quite busy on weekends and it is often a line to get in around midnight. They have a cool back yard which is popular during summer months which is a big plus. While it is not my favorite spot in Bergen I don't mind stopping by for a drink once in a while.

On a Saturday afternoon, this was the place to watch Premier League gamesmanship so we ended up here to watch the Spurs. 3 games were on. A good size space with different crowds based on which game each TV was showing. A good selection of Beers on draft and prices were reasonable. Loud and typical Futbol Pub atmosphere. They have a Pool Table. We had a Kansa Pilsner and Kilkenny -both were draft and tasty. Service was a bit disengaged. Gentlemen who were pouring the drafts were quiet and didn't have much to say. Maybe part of the experience? Emptied out after the games were finished.

Wasted 90 NOK, 2 hamburgers ordered with fries and they were good. Ordered 2 beers. Plenty of inside seating. See photos. I wouldn't come back here but they had American type food here and not Norwegian. Not than many places to eat in the shopping side of Bergen unless you want a coffee and a bread item. Also, go order at the bar and they will bring the food to you.

The salads by far were legit. Very very generous portions and lots of salmon and petit shrimp on the seafood salad. The pics on the menu don't do it justice. The service was friendly as well.
