The family was feeling like something different for lunch after church. We ran into this gem purely by accident. So happy we did! The beauty of having a family that is willing to try different cuisines, is showing them there is more out there to try. I'm a huge fan of Indian food, and the food here was amazing. We started with a curry chicken dosa. It was a perfect start to my families dip into the different flavor profiles we were about to try. The other dishes we ordered were vijayawada chicken biryani(SPICY), tandoori chicken, Szechwan chicken noodles, and some garlic naan. For drinks we had mango lassi and rose milk. The mango lassi the kiddos loved, the rose milk not soo much. The misses loved the rose milk. The garlic naan was delicious with all the dipping choices they brought us. If you are new, I would start with the tandoori chicken, by far the kids favorite. The biryani was very spicy, we were ok with it, but I can see others being really caught off guard. Me, I loved it all, especially the tandoori chicken, and the hummus that came with the dosa. The real star, came as a SIDE with the dosa. The Sambar was so delicious I forgot everything else that was on the table. I highly recommend that you get an extra side or two of it! It was clean inside and lots of room. The portions are huge, so prep for that. The only negatives I can say....they should do a better job of explaining the dishes to us. Like they brought us a bowl of rice, so we thought, but the chicken was all on the bottom. Also, some of our table was a little thrown off by the strong incense that was permeating throughout. Other than that we will definitely come back and try more!

This place is fantastic. There are very few Indian restaurants near me, and when I found this place and tried the food I knew I found a new go-to place. I have had the Chicken Tikka Masala and every bite was delicious. I always make sure to get enough of the Garlic naan and butter naan to sop up the sauce. The Chicken Biryani was superb. The rice was fluffy and had the perfect amount of spice, along with a good amount of vegetables and chicken. The food has a good amount of heat, so if you don't want too much heat make sure to ask them for mild. I have gone back at least once a week since my first visit.

I have already recommended this spot to my Brother...that's because I only learned about Biryani Chicken this year...so one day I looked up and saw this place & turned in...Customer Service OUTSTANDING...the vibe is that they care about their product & take personal interest to get your order right...the flavor was different...again, my first time...I remember the Gentleman that took my order asked about my Spice comfort level (low)...& my dish was at a level that I could handle...kinda tricked me because the Chicken is under the Rice...the Rice has a good flavor as well...when you do get to the Chicken it is delicious...if you are a fan or wanna have you Chicken prepared a different way...I recommend this spot!!!

This is the picture they show!!! They look nothing alike. There wasn't even any pistachios!

I ordered my food via doordash and the Food was nothing as described. Malai Kofta was NOTHING as described and they scammed me out of the potato balls. The Rasamalai looked like inch long white turd logs. $5 for teeny tiny mushes in a cup of sauce. I've had these dishes before from different restaurant and they're my favorite. I've never received such lazy and unacceptable service. The food was just... no. Tasted okay. Definitely not work 13-17 bucks for a cup of curry with two tiny potato balls.

They got a good selection of the menu. We ordered lamb masala and lamb biryani rice. Portions are generous unlike the other Indian restaurant with the small portion. The dishes are flavorful and delicious. Also so they got a nice little bar in there . Good service by the server. We will be back to try rest of the menu.

Food was very tasty. Service was prompt and checked on us frequently. Lots of TVs avail and cricket was playing. A bit loud but it was tolerable. Would recommend to try and we will be back!

It was my first time at an Indian restaurant. My daughter treated me to dinner. It was difficult to decide what to get, so we ordered a variety of appetizers. Our server was very helpful and made a few recommendations. First, we had the Potato Samosas with Tamarind chutney. It was delicious. Then we had the Pani Puri. It came with a Cardamom chutney. The flavors were interesting, but I probably would not order it again. Then our main dishes arrived. My daughter had the Egg Masala with a side of Basmati rice, and I had the Chicken Tikka. My chicken came with a Coriander Mint chutney. The chicken was cooked perfectly. Both main dishes were very spicy. We added an order of the Garlic Naan at the last minute, and it was a perfect compliment to my chicken. There were a few other families dining this evening, so it was fairly quiet. They seemed to have a steady stream of to go orders going out. The price was very reasonable for all of the different items we ordered. They only had room temperature bottled water, for which they charged us $.50 each. My daughter also tried the Mango Lassi, which she absolutely loved. I would have liked to have given them a 5 star review. However, we kept hearing what sounded like some kind of animal moving around in the ceiling while we were waiting for our food. For it being my first Indian food experience, I think I would like to have it again, but just maybe at a different spot.

My second visit. I'm very impressed with the menu. Very tasty Indian food! Highly recommend.

    Lamb/Goat Curry. Spicy and delicious.
    Rick B.

Ok, first off, I don't consider myself an expert in Indian food. I do know good flavor though, and this food has that in abundance. Goat curry was a spicy tomato based dish with tender goat and came with fluffy, perfectly cooked rice. I had garlic naan which was toasted on the outside and fresh. Finally, my favorite, samosas! Curried potato and peas with a fantastic spice on them I can't figure out, but love. Very friendly service and a nice ambiance. I will be back regularly.

At the time I write my review (July 14, 2025), this new Indian restaurant in Helotes has a paltry…read moretwo-star overall rating on Yelp based on two short, non-descriptive reviews. I don't typically rate a restaurant until I've visited at least twice and had an opportunity to sample multiple items, but I'm making an exception in this case, partly because I feel that the current reviews are undeservedly harsh and lacking in detail. Despite a few odd issues, I enjoyed my visit to Spice Fine Indian Cuisine and would recommend it to anyone familiar with Indian food. Before I discuss the food (the most important aspect of any review), I need to describe this restaurant's bizarre setup. It shares the same space as Jalapeno's, a Tex-Mex restaurant that's been in business for several years. According to my server, Jalapeno's and Spice are now owned the same person (an Indian guy who doubles as the chef at Spice). My server explained to me that Jalapeno's operates with a predominantly Mexican staff until 2:30. The Indian staff then take over and open Spice at 5:30. I have no idea how that arrangement works logistically, but who am I to argue? Service was spotty at first, but the staff sorted out the issues quickly. The owner/chef seated me and handed me a small paper menu that lacked many essentials, including tandoori items. When I pointed this out, he determined that he had somehow given me the "wrong" menu. A different staff member (who turned out to be my server) then emerged from the kitchen with a much larger menu. Two of the items I wanted (vegetable pakoras and a mango lassi) were unavailable according to my server, which I found unusual. Fortunately, everything else I wanted was available, so I ordered vegetable samosas, tandoori chicken, saag paneer, and garlic naan. My server explained that the dishes would likely arrive at different times, as each item is made to order. While some customers may scoff at such a statement, I determined it to be a good omen of things to come. Fresh food is invariably worth the wait! --Vegetable samosas: 5.0/5.0 These come two to an order, though I could have eaten four, as I appreciate a tasty samosa. The potato/spice mixture was incorporated thoroughly, ensuring that every bite was bursting with flavor and capsaicin. Yes, these two bad boys bit me back! The shells were crispy unlike most samosas I've tried at Indian buffets. I still long for the enormous, transcendently delicious samosas from the now-defunct Kohinoor (my favorite desi restaurant in San Antonio), but these were excellent nonetheless. --Tandoori chicken: 4.5/5.0 The six pieces (legs and thighs) were juicy and benefitted from the charred Maillard reaction from the sizzling cast iron skillet. I could definitely taste the garam masala spice/seasoning but would have appreciated a bit more. White meat chicken tends to dry out, so I'm glad that Spice serves only dark meat. I would rate Spice's tandoori chicken above any of the Indian buffets scattered about town. --Saag paneer: 4.5/5.0 India Palace remains the undisputed king of saag paneer in San Antonio, but I enjoyed Spice's iteration, as it ramped up the capsaicin to levels that most casual diners (i.e., wussies) would find too spicy. The garam masala was incorporated properly into the ghee and spinach, and the titular paneer cheese was fresh and plentiful. The serving size was also generous: approximately 50% more than what I've received at other desi restaurants. --Garlic naan: 5.0/5.0 Spice's naan struck the perfect balance between crispy and soft. Most Indian restaurants--both buffet and full-service--include a smattering of canned chopped garlic that doesn't taste like much of anything. If you take a glance at the attached photo, you'll see that the kitchen applied a generous smear of fresh roasted garlic to every piece of my naan, which I used primarily as a vessel for the saag paneer. We need more ethnic restaurants in this part of town. We had a very good Indian restaurant called Ruby's that closed about a year ago due to poor business. Helotes already has enough boring, bland, milquetoast chains and fast-casual garbage, so let's come together to support independently owned places like Spice. Ignore the naysayers and trust the opinions of someone like me: a user with both the expressive ability and culinary acumen to review a place like this accurately.

I always order veggie samosas, butter chicken, and garlic naan. The samosas were a bit greasy but flavorful. The mint cilantro chutney was more sour than im used to and that was a common theme here. The butter chicken could have come out of the microwave, the surface had a sheen like it wasn't from the pan. It was also sour, acidic, and very thick. Service was good, but like I said we were the only ones here. It's very dark in here and looks like a Mexican cantina, because it is.

The wait for the delivery was only about an hour. That was fine with me, as I had plenty of things I needed to get done before I sat down to dine. When I lifted the bundle that was left at my door, I was shocked by the weight! I don't feel like I ordered all that much, but they sure sent a lot of food. I ordered lamb vindaloo, garlic, naan, rice, and samosas. All of it was truly delicious. The large pieces of lamb meat in the vindaloo were tender and soaked with the delicious flavor of the spicy sauce. There were not as many potato chunks as meat chunks, which I consider a good thing in vindaloo. The garlic naan was some of the best I have ever had. I ordered two of them, but really didn't need the second one. They were huge. By themselves, they tasted delicious, but when you dipped it into the vindaloo sauce, it was absolutely amazing. The very first Indian food I ever had was at a dinner party in 1973 when my family was living in Taiwan. The most memorable item for me was the samosas. The ones from this restaurant we're almost exactly like I remembered. I have to also comment on how well everything was packaged. All of the containers were shrink wrapped for extra precaution. I don't think anything could've leaked even if the driver put it upside down. I am anxious to go and try eating at the actual restaurant. Somehow it was off my radar.
