There isn't really room inside to eat. The outdoor parklet is nice because there's a glass barrier to the street, and there are umbrellas for of it's sunny, blankets for if it's cold. The focus is sandwiched. Paninis are €7 each. There's a menu on the wall in Italian with the 5 daily choices (including a vegetarian one). Wines are cheap: €3.50-5 a glass. We tried: - Braesola with truffle cream: I love that the braesola here is not as salty as in the US - Mortadella with fava bean purée: unexpectedly good You can grab a glass of wine and walk around the market as you wait for your sandwich - no sure if it's really allowed, but no one stopped us. Also, the Mercato has free WiFi. The woman working there were very patient while we decided on our order, and she spoke English. Cash only.

We needed a place to hang out before a nearby dinner reservation and happened by Benny's wide open space with plenty of seating outside the restaurant and decided to give it a try. We loved our Apérol Spritzes (especially the barber pole straws). I guess since it was our first, naturally we compared this experience to the subsequent ones we had...but this one really was good...well mixed, generously sized and really good. Most sprites come with some kind of accompaniments during apéritivo hour, and again, Benny's topped them all with presentation and what was offered...olives...those famous little round "spritz cracker cookies" (that can't possibly be what they're really called...) peanuts and chips. We had to be careful not to fill up before dinner! They have other creative looking drinks that we'd love to try sometime if we're ever back in Modena. This was a perfect spot, right in the middle of the historic center of town to enjoy a spritz and aperitivo hour.

This one looked like the most Casual. 7 or 8 tables outside covered by an umbrella--looks like a coz neighborhood place. Very friendly service and reasonable prices. I had a flatbread pizza with prosciutto, mozzarella and rivals. I thought I was ordering a salad--but oh well. It was very good. I also had an aperol spritz and a bottle of water and the total was 20 Euros. I would def go back!

The rest of the night goes down in history as one of the best adventures ever. Specialty cocktails by the owner/ bartender better than mixologists we've tried in Manhattan.
