Between 11.45am and 2pm this place gets bussssyyyy and rightly so, as the food is lush and the service efficient.
What loses points for this place is the bum's rush of city workers all clamouring for their carb fix and queueing in an odd, and confusing way. I come into work to take me away from the chaos of the outside world. Lunctimes here often bring it all home.
Trust me, there's no rhyme or reason to how people line up. Food is ordered from the counter. Upon ordering you're given your ticket and pay for what you've bought but are still waiting for.
It can become very confusing, waiting on the sidelines for food while other people moonwalk past you with their lunchtime treats. The snacks, to be fair, are delicious if a little pricey so generally worth the wait.
Again you get what you pay for. you're a stone's throw from the Bank of England, so their rent is high, which i guess is reflected in the price of the food you pay for.
The best advert for this place is that the staff whom take your order do NOT also handle your money, which happens everywhere else. Birley takes a pride in its appearance and therefore you purchase in confidence. Part of the reason why this place is rammed daily.
Oh yeah, try their takeaway salads, they're carb-tastic. read more
