I said to my friends when playing with them: there's not a bad hole on the golf course. Every hole has its own feel to it and each one adds to the layout. Lots of holes start with a risk/reward tee shot. I think this would be a great course to host a scramble as well. Green complexes are well thought out with areas you want to be and areas you really want to avoid. That's not always apparent from the approach shot. Layups on par 5s also need a lot of thought. But all of this adds to the replay factor here. Finishes on a beautiful par 5 with water all the way up the left side. Wish I had played it better but hopefully will have another chance at some point soon. Practice areas are a little spread apart but cover everything you need. Big driving range that they only utilize a small part of (which wasn't great). Two putting greens. One is a short game area green as well but it rolls just as nicely as the greens on the course. The only small downside would be it's not the most walkable course. A couple of holes have long stretches between them and it's hilly too. Service was impressive and the event here was very well run. Just be sure to stop by the Barbeque Exchange if you're coming from northern Virginia!

I had an incident with Kathy Ballard this evening while dining at the Tavern ( restaurant on site). My niece was playing on the putting green which is located adjacent to the outdoor dining area. Several children frequently play in this area while their parents dine. Tonight Kathy came down from the pro shop to tell my niece's mother that her child could not play in the area because " the Fluvanna HS Homecoming kids being on site and ruining the area with their high heels" WTF does this have do do with a 4 year old playing? Kathy made no sense and she clearly took her anger out on an innocent 4 year old black kid. Yesterday I was at the same location and a white family had 3 children playing on the same putting green, doing cartwheels on greens. No one came to say anything to these children. I sat there for over 2 hours and watched these kids do whatever they wanted. Spring Creek Golf Club has NO diversity and they make it known that they so not welcome minorities.

It was a hot day but the carts had 2 coolers for our use and we got a bag of ice. They have a nice putting & driving range. The marshal gave us the course rules. It was cart path only because the course was spongy. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were in excellent condition. The rolling hills give it a fun way to play the angles. The rates vary by day or time of day. This course is really nice for a public course. They have good pro shop and bar /restaurant. I would play here again.

The day I played, no wait AT ALL on a single hole nor was there anyone behind ME. I will say tho: MAKE SURE you stay on the fairway especially on, I believe, the 9th hole. Some key things to note:…read more - At 3,850 feet, the highest course in the State of Virginia - Access is only available to members, guests and registered resort guests - 50-mile views of the Shenandoah and Rockfish valleys - Surprisingly level mountaintop terrain My ears popped going up and down the mountain to the golf course. A good friend is a member, so that made me a guest. The mountain views are stunning and gorgeous. When it comes to walking, the level mountaintop terrain is true... When golfing, the hell with their level mountaintop. With their beautiful and super fast greens, the ball never stops rolling. A course like this requires precision and skill. Miss a shot or approach from the wrong angle and you can guarantee your next shot very far from the hole and in some cases, off the green. If you suck at golf like I did, you'll need lots of golf balls. Come prepared. Finding golf balls off of the rough are nearly impossible. My only gripe was that the greens were hard so approach shots didn't hold well. If you're a golfer and you're visiting Wintergreen and have the opportunity to play, take it. Bring your camera. You'll find some great views you'll want to snap.

Stoney Creek! Any…read moregolfers visiting the area should certainly make a stop here. The views on this course is absolutely amazing. Road tip call in advance and book a teatime what you see online may not be as accurate as you think. Call the pro shop and book your timeslot at least a week in advance to ensure you can get in because this is a very busy golf course. Everyone here at the course were welcoming and very friendly. We played the "Tuckahoe" nine holes. The course is pretty pricey, but you do get what you pay for the greens are great and we had no issue navigating which way to go while we were here driving the golf cart. We ended up paying $110 for nine holes on Saturday at 10 AM. The views here are amazing. It is hard to play without stopping to take photos of the mountains surrounding this course. Most holes are par for three and five. It is very manageable for any new golfers. Many of the holes are straight away, but there are lots of heels to navigate up and down while trying to get on the green. Again, if you have time make this place somewhere to stop even if you can't have a teatime in advance just come up have lunch and just enjoy the views. Can't wait to be back to play another course.

Got out to Ingleside for the first time this season on 4/20. I have never seen the course in…read morebetter shape. It's still run on a shoestring, seems to me, but the golf course itself (which is the main point, right?) is in as good shape as any of the public courses I play within one hour of Charlottesville. It is better than some which cost far more. Clearly it has benefitted from a wet spring, preceded by a wet winter and summer, because I have seen this course dry out badly. Right now though, it is soft and green, with only #17 showing any sign at all of oversaturation (and it was not bad). It is also evident to me that a real effort has been made to up the course maintenance. The greens, which in the best of times previously I would have to call marginal, were actually quite good throughout - no exceptions. Sand traps -- all filled. Fairways lush with "real" grass (not Bermuda). Rough well cut so as to be not "wild". Just very good all around. And as has always been the case, I don't know where you can golf more for less. It cost us $50 apiece to play 36. Fairly busy out there on Saturday - busier than I've ever seen it, but the pace of play was excellent, even without any sort of marshal on staff. My only critique is one which I don't foresee being addressed any time soon, and that is cart paths which are best avoided for safety reasons. In fact, we ventured out to Ingleside because even after a rainy week we KNEW it could not be cart path only. Two months after knee replacement, I wasn't ready to do a lot of walking yet. TIP: #9 and #12, both dogleg lefts and two of the longest par fours, are just about unreachable for me in regulation without a tail wind of some power. But if you play the fairways to your left off the tee, you can cut the corner and 30-50 yards to the green, to say nothing of avoiding "your" fairway which is tough to get a level lie on. When we see that opposing fairway is open, we throw our tee shots out there. Don't be timid about it, though. You do need to get the ball out there well enough left to avoid getting blocked by the same trees which form the dogleg.
