Fantastic first tattoo experience in a place full of charm and warmth! Already dreaming of my next work of art done by tattoo artist Valeria

$130 (lower rate) done by the shop's apprentice. The shop has a hundred dollar minimum.

**ONLY RATED THE ONE STAR BECAUSE I HAD TO RATE IT SOMETHING** We first called to find out about their walk ins and shop minimum and was told it was $100 and they had a specific person to do walk in so we can come whenever. When we came in one woman in our group wanted to get this tattoo and was shown three sizes with no price details until after she picked the size she was told it would be $130. She was being tattooed by the shop's apprentice, which apparently when that does happen you get charged a lower rate (understandably so). We still went along with the price because it was important for us to get tattooed together, but rightfully so we were very taken back. When we reached out to the shops Instagram to DM about the tattoo idea we were again told that that tattoo could in fact be done for the shops minimum. I explained to them our experience and was told that what they did was right and okay. That technically their shop lets each artist decide what they want to tattoo for the shops minimum. Then when asked about the lower rate being tattooed by the apprentice we were told that "her application has already been submitted and they are waiting back for a slip of paper and they haven't changed her bio on the website or social media." Now I could be mistaken but that slip of paper would be her certificate saying she is an actual artist and without it yes that still makes her an apprentice. I was told to let them now if I had any other questions and have a great day, when I followed up with more questions I was told "I owe you no future explanations." We were so excited to come in when we first called and even expressed that to the person on the phone, which she said she was the owner and that made her so happy, just to be given this experience and response is very upsetting and just a let down as a shop with nothing but women. Hopefully they do better by the next people but from the sounds of it I highly doubt that.

Absolutely thrilled with the incredible work done by Juan Jimenez at Bird Tattoos & Piercings SD! I came in with a 24+ year-old tattoo that I never thought could be fully covered, but Juan worked his magic and transformed it into a stunning, full-color turtle that completely exceeded my expectations. His attention to detail, color work, and ability to breathe new life into an old piece is nothing short of phenomenal. Not only is Juan a true artist, but he's also kind, professional, and made the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish. I've received so many compliments already, and I couldn't be happier. If you're looking for someone who can turn your tattoo dreams into reality -- especially challenging cover-ups -- Juan is the one to go to. 10/10 recommend!

Tattoo Review for Monika Light - Thai Tiger Back Piece I came home for holiday block leave knowing I wanted to get a Thai tiger tattoo on my back, and I couldn't have asked for a better artist than Monika Light. She absolutely killed it! From start to finish, the experience was amazing, and the final result completely blew me away. The amount of detail she put into this piece is insane. Every line is crisp, the shading is flawless, and the way she brought the tiger to life is unreal. She really took the time to make sure everything was perfect, and you can tell she genuinely cares about her craft. The design is bold, powerful, and exactly what I wanted--if not better. Aside from her insane talent, Monika is also super professional and easy to work with. She made sure I was comfortable the whole time, explained everything clearly, and kept such a good vibe throughout the session. It's obvious she puts her heart into what she does, and it really shows in her work. If you're looking for an artist who is not only insanely talented but also professional and passionate about what they do, I highly recommend Monika. I couldn't be happier with my tattoo, and I'll definitely be coming back for more in the future! 10/10 experience!

I cannot recommend this tattoo shop more. I got tattooed my Monica (Mo). She was amazing with the way she guided the session, helped make it memorable as I was there for a memorial tattoo dedicated to my mom, and was fun to talk with. The vibe of her booth was also pretty rad and added to the great experience. My tattoo came out amazing and absolutely gorgeous. 10/10 and will be back for more! read more

This is my first tattoo at this shop and I couldn't be more pleased with the result. Monika was my artist and from the beginning she was super helpful with my design. This piece was designed for my wife and Monika was really invested in making it perfect for us. Knowing nothing about astrology, Monika designed the background off my wife's chart with me before starting the piece. Atmosphere of the shop is great; Monika is super personable and is excellent at her craft. The piece turned out amazing and is all due to Monika's attention to detail and preparation. Pricing is more than fair for the quality of work. 10/10 definitely recommend for your next tattoo and I will be returning for another piece in the future with her! Mo was incredible. She did matching tattoos for me and my best friend as a memorial to my mother who just passed. They are perfect She was so kind, lit an incense in my mom's honor, and encouraged us to show pictures and talk about her. I'd have been happy with the whole process and our cute tattoos, but the understanding and empathy added some extra light in this very sad time. Thank you Mo! Will see you again soon. read more

She took the time to place the design perfectly and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. Her line work is beautiful and the tattoo came out exactly how I hoped. I got my third lobes and rook pierced by Miss V. She did an amazing job and took me step by step through the process, she very precise as well! The spacing was perfect and she allowed me to put my thoughts and opinions as well. She gave me amazing tips and offered advice, which is greatly appreciated. She is amazing! :) Everyone there was very friendly and you can tell they know what they are doing and are great at it. The shop is clean and has great decor all over (which is very fun to look at), there's tattoo books and other things to look at as well to keep you busy if you happen to be waiting. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to get a piercing or tattoo! I'll definitely be back :D Also, s/o to Lily -- I can't wait to come back and get a tattoo, all your work looks amazing! read more

Found our new shop for annual tattoo. Its in the walmart shopping lot. Waited a few minutes, and the artist was ready to go. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Artist knew what she was doing unlike other places that take an hour bs around before they get in there. Great work. Will be back every year going forward. Thanks Bird Tattoos. read more

First impression, its a Very Clean shop and very welcoming. the atmosphere is nice and the tall ceilings really make the shop feel very "open" (and not claustrophobic like some places) I got my first tattoo there by Juan on the owner Carlys birthday, and it was a great experience. So great, I went back again to get my wrist tattooed a month later. I handled the paperwork with Lily both times and she is very professional and will answer any questions you have. when my tattoo was done it cost exactly what was quoted and I appreciate the transparency. I would highly reccomend checking this shop out if you are on the fence about where to go. (Especially if your looking at reviews for a place to go for Friday the 13th). Mo, Juan, Carly, Lily and Cassie have all been super nice to me and now I know why Bird Tattoos has the great reputation it has in East County. read more

I had a great tattoo experience with Carlos. He made me feel comfortable and at ease, and the level of professionalism was top-notch. All the artists and piercers are so friendly and they take time to offer great suggestions and advice on design, placement, and color. The tattoo I received exceeded my expectations. The studio was clean, welcoming, and had a great vibe, which made the whole experience even better. I'm beyond happy with the result and will definitely be coming back for more. Highly recommend this shop to anyone looking for a talented and creative artists. read more

Recently received a belly piercing by V and LET ME SAY , the most painless and fast healing piercing I've ever had. Due to having twins 2 years ago I had to let go of my original piercing and wasn't sure if it was possible with the excess stretched skin . V was able to talk me through all of our options and reassure me on what would be best for my anatomy. Needless to say I was stressed for no reason and had ZERO pain afterwards. Oh and she's funny , what more could you want from your next piercer ? I highly recommend you book your next appt with her read more

Had an amazing experience with V the piercer, I have sent many friends and their kids her way and they have been extremely happy with her. V is very sanitary, used a sterile technique that was very impressive, even mimicking the way a procedure would be done in a hospital environment. She really took her time, and the piercing healed quickly and beautifully. I highly recommend her, especially if you are looking for a piercer who prioritizes safety and a positive experience read more

I did a lot of research beforehand and saw that Claire had great reviews, and now I completely understand why. She was incredibly professional, patient, and most importantly, amazing with my 5-year-old daughter. As a parent, that matters more than anything. One thing I really appreciated was that she doesn't use a piercing gun. I didn't even realize that was important until doing research online, but she took the time to explain why a needle is safer and more precise. That immediately gave me confidence that we were in the right place. She was also very intentional with the placement. She didn't rush anything, carefully marked the ears, checked with us multiple times, and made sure we were 100% comfortable before moving forward. That level of care really stood out. The whole process felt calm, thoughtful, and professional, which made a huge difference for my daughter's experience. Claire made what could have been a stressful moment feel easy and positive. If you're considering ear piercings, especially for a child, Claire at Rockabilly is absolutely the person to go to!

I would'nt recommend Tony to do a Tattoo on my dog.I lost my dad in a horrible accident back in…read moremay of this year.so I contacted Tony about doing a portrait tattoo of my father on my arm in remembernce of him .He was totally cool...was like yeah .....i can hook you up.i told him how this was very important to me because my dad was my best friend ...and the way we lost him was just horrible...so this tat was extremely special.so...he said that's cool i understand just e-mail me the picture that you want and i'll hook you up.so..he was totally cool...i didn't even have a ride at the time ,had just moved her from the eastcoast, and he even came as far as to coming and picking me up..which was very nice i thought.so i get there and he pulls up the picture on the computer...and sizes it and we put it on my arm and i say its cool...but it's the same exact picture that i brought..which he had told me om the phone a few days earlier that he had the perfect portrait layout for my tattoo...but i just went with the flow, when i should have stepped up an dsaid somethimg then.ok so....he's tattooing me and then he offers me a beer and then he drinks a beer.(which mind you the fridge is stocked full....very unprofessional)!!!! However...I'm a bit nervous so I'm drinking right along with him.ok ...so the tattoo takes about two hours maybe...and he charged me 250.00...that is what he said that he charged for portraits.so i look in the mirror and i was kinda in a hurry so i just looked really fast, payed him his 250.00 and another 50.00 for a tip...yyeah.....!!! He was nice enough to take me back home and told me how to take care of my new tat.ok cool see ya thanks...so....i get in take a shower....you know a few -people look at it and start asking a bunch of ????so of course i get pissed i then go look at it....i then tell myself ok i'll give it a few days before i say anything.well...few days go by....then i notice my white in my dad's teeth start to bleed down under his teeth which shouldn't be happening .and a lot of lines that are not even..and he just went really really deep and way dark.so...i call and confront Tony with my concerns...and he says to me that he's 100% sure that once it heals all the way that i'll be happy with it.WELL......it's been 2 months now...I'm NOT HAPPY,And he wont return my text nor phone calls.so how professionall is that ???you tell me???Then i go to his website...and I don't see the first portrait tattoo anywhere in his folio...so I'm pretty upset!!!Granted...a lot of this is my own fault for not doing my school work on the artist...however...he said if i didn't like it in the end he would make it right ,and that's all i'm asking at this point.Tony...what do you specialize in????make up in that for 250.00....fair is fair!!!
