I got my first tattoo hooray!!! I was really nervous and had been debating for years and finally pulled the trigger. I called in and had my appointment set! Tommy is very friendly and personable. He shared his many stories of travels and even showed me the green and pink sands he got from Hawaii. I felt very comfortable getting my first tat here. Ok, I had it wrong, Tommy Chong didn't do my tattoo 8 years ago, but for sure I am happy we ended up at his place in El Cajon. I saw the precision, color and creativity of his work on two of my son's friends' arms and my boyfriend and I decided to check out his place. The studio is easy to find/park/comfortable and the artists (Tommy and Jordan) are talented and creative. Terry ended up with a rendition of the Pacific Crest Trail (he has hiked there) that incorporated the insignia with a life of its own. Huge Shout Out to our new good friend and Artist, Tommy Chong. My wife and I both really wanted to get a tattoo and he took care of us. I had set up an appointment 6 weeks out at a shop next door and 2 days from my appointment they had to reschedule. I rolled into Tommy's shop told him what I wanted and 3 hours later I had a bad ass tattoo. Just a few days after that he was able to blast up the rest of my wife's hand. I'm very happy with the results because I was looking for a cover up tattoo in my ankle. I had an ugly and badly done round spider web,unfortunately I didn't take a picture of before and after but it was a very ugly tattoo. I dropped in on a Sunday for a quick consultation on a wrist tattoo. Tommy showed me some great ideas on his computer and together we agreed on a design, and since he was free, it turned into a walk-in. His prices are reasonable (shop minimum is $60, which is what I paid + tip) and he's great at chatting with you to keep your mind off the pain while he inks you. Also super chill through the whole consultation process, never pressured me into anything, gave good suggestions, all around a great guy. Pro tip: the hours he's got listed don't exactly correspond to the shop actually being open, at least on weekends. Recommend calling ahead day of to get an idea of when he'll be in. I called that Sunday morning around noon and he was hanging out with his kids. He told me he'd be in around 4:30, which he was, but to prevent an aimless trip out to El Cajon, I'd check to make sure he's there before you set out. read more

Tommy is a great artist. He's usually not available on Sundays but he made an exception for me since he knew I was planning on getting a mother/daughter tattoo. He came in on Mother's Day so that I could get my tattoo.
