Poor Communication and Customer Service - Wasted $150 in Application Fees
I applied for an apartment at Birchstone Cedar Ridge and paid $75 each for myself and my husband in application fees -- $150 total -- money that was completely wasted due to their poor communication and lack of responsiveness.
From the very beginning, there were serious issues with my apartment assignment. I was originally approved for a unit at $2,343 per month, but without my consent, I was switched to a completely different unit priced at $4,252 per month. When I raised my concerns, instead of working with me to fix the situation, staff told me that because my income showed I could afford a higher amount, I should be able to pay it. That is not how it works -- I applied and was approved based on my budget, not the maximum I could possibly afford.
I was directed by staff to put all my concerns in writing via email. I did exactly that, sending two detailed emails. I never received a single response to either one. I also called the office multiple times and could not get through to anyone.
By the time I received an acceptance email on June 29th, my move-in date was only two days away and not one of my concerns had been addressed. With no resolution and no communication, I had no choice but to secure other housing to protect my family.
To make matters worse, they emailed me on July 2nd asking why I had not moved in -- yet they never answered my two emails or returned a single phone call. That level of service is completely unacceptable, especially for something as critical and time-sensitive as housing.
I would not recommend this property to anyone. If you apply here, be aware that you may not receive timely or adequate support when it matters most. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements for future applicants and residents. read more
