It's…read moreclose to A LOT of fun activities ranging from grabbing a REALLY good pizza from Kozy's (which they conveniently sell at the office) to walking 1/4mile to the gas station for ice cream. It's no more than a mile from the 4th largest lake in Wisconsin, castle rock lake, and they have a nice bait shop that's open 7 days a week from 7a-7p. There are a few golf courses near by, snowmobile/ATV trails right across the street and even airsoft/paintballing 1/2 mile away! There are a lot of activities around the site as well volleyball, playset, horseshoes, custom made basketball hot shot and our favorite, sitting around a nice bonfire and seeing all the stars. We stayed in a single king room and were pleasantly surprised with how much space we had, it didn't feel cramped even with all the toddler gear. Both the hotel and the waterpark were consistently clean throughout our stay. For a high traffic family resort this was impressive and much appreciated. The wave pool and dedicated toddler area were a huge hit. Our little dude had a blast and it was great to have a safe, age appropriate space for him to explore. The lodge is due for some updates, specifically the waterpark equipment - the water jet skis in the toddler area were all broken and material was visibly chipping. While my toddler didn't notice the cosmetic wear, as a parent it is a little worrisome. I'd say visiting in the winter was the perfect way to beat the cold, though it did limit us to indoor sections. We're definitely curious to return when it's warmer to see how the outdoor area fairs. Overall a great choice for families with toddlers, but hopefully, management will invest in some much needed repairs to the play features soon!

Besides for rentals, there are people who own in Burhops, which gives the whole place a neighborhood feel. You can dock your boat here, or rent a boat for the day. We usually stick with the swimming area and sand-box for the kids. Plus there's a cute little park across the street and a couple of little restaurants that are walking-distance away. Keep in mind, this is not a "resort." It's a small, off-the-beaten-path, cabin rental. But if that's what you're looking for, it's the absolute cutest off-the-beaten-path, cabin rental you could ask for!

Pike's peak is interesting as well as the Effigy Mounds National Park. Highly recommend staying here for a nice getaway.
