This company is a joke! I am an Office Manager for a company that I am constantly having to call to have them come out and fix issue after issue with my 4 phone lines. Recently I've been calling once a month for something or another. They have crappy customer service and can't ever manage to fix your problem! If they do it stops working again within a couple days. I called last Tuesday for someone to come out to fix my fax line and shop line. Finally, Friday they got to me and only fixed one line and left! Didn't say anything to me or any of my employees. I called them back. Since the tech fixed one line they were able to close out my ticket even though they didn't fix the entire issue on my ticket, meaning my additional problem line. They told me they would have to open another ticket and that would take another 4 days for them to come out and fix.. Are you kidding me?? So, I called and spoke to a supervisor they told me there was nothing that they could do and basically it was out of their hands and they would get back to me when they could!! WOW!! How is this company still in business? Oh, and I am on the 4th day and have yet to see anyone show up!? AGAIN... This is a business! WE NEED OUR PHONES WORKING! I am on hold with a new carrier now. Worst telecommunications company ever - every time they have to make a change to our account it takes them 2 months - I am not exaggerating. Their techs cannot fix a problem they created themselves with one of our lines and they keep transferring us from department to department in their own company however each tech is as clueless as the previous one. I will do everything in my power to change this provider for our company - I do not think we have any real saving in the service we receive and the hassle of having to deal with them is simply not worth it!!! read more

Birch is trying to charge us $1000 for 'early termination' after 4 insanely frustrating months trying to cancel a line we no longer use. Now they can't produce a signed document showing we agreed to any such thing (because we didn't). VERY SHADY BUSINESS. They just called our store, representing as a biller of "discount service for AT&T." I knew this was a scam immediately; we just signed a one-year contract with AT&T. The woman argued and tried telling me that her records didn't show that we were under contract. She also kept trying to read off a confirmation number that she wanted me to accept. After getting the run around about who they really were, I finally just told her we weren't interested, not to ever call back, and I hung up. She was still talking when I pressed the end call button. 1 STAR BECAUSE YOU CAN'T PUT ZERO!! UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. THE SERVICE IS OVER PRICED, UNDER PERFORMING, AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NON-EXISTANT. In August 2015, I attempted to cancel my service with Birch/C beyond Communication. I informed them, in writing by mail and email within 90 days of the end of my contract which ended Oct 1, 2015. I was told by the representative at Birch that once my request was received, our contract would not renew. Our new provider took the necessary steps to present a switch order to port our numbers from Birch to new company. It appeared all went well. Until I received a bill in October. I called Birch (NO) customer service, spoke to Liz. I asked about my bill, said we did not renew and she stated that contract ended and disconnect was done. She said to wait until the following month for credit as they billed ahead. I got a bill in Nov, but didn't call. Got another bill in Dec and called inquiring why I continued to be billed. I spoke to 4 different people. One was putting in order to correct, one confirmed we were out of contract w/hotspot & cell phones. Another said they never received port out for office #'s but was checking to be sure order had been put in. Said I should have a credit on next billing. Jan bill comes and they want over $4000.00 from me!! Called & spoke to Stella who tells me that because mobile air card was not ported another year was added to contract! She said she was turning this over to billing to research & asking all charges be waived. This continues until today when I speak to David, a supervisor who is rude and tells me a different story. States 4 numbers were not ported over and charges would not be waived. NO ONE I SPOKE TO AT BIRCH TOLD ME ANYTHING ABOUT PORTS NOT BEING TRANSFERRED UNTIL I WAS OUT OF MY 90 DAY REQUEST! When you cancel a contract, what part of cancel do they not understand????? This company does not care about customer service! When Birch bought out C Beyond, I heard horror stories about how hard they were to get out of contract. They are the worst company ever to deal with!!! Now, over a month after my disconnect request, they tried to charge me $4500 for early termination fees. This is not a reputable company! They don't care about customer service! They just wasted 20 minutes of my morning, the first guy, Michael Jones, totally lied and told me he was from CenturyLink and was just telling me that as of next month's bill each line would be discounted $15, which sounded great. Then he said I needed a reference number for the call and connected me with some lady, who then mentioned Birch and my Scam-dar went on high alert. I told her I felt uncomfortable and it was seeming sketchy and that I was hanging up, and the only thing she got from me was the correct spelling of my name. read more

So I just got a call from a company called birch. At first they said they were calling about our Verizon account and made it sound like they were from Verizon without actually saying they were Verizon. The girl said something about businesses getting lower rates in our area but us being a small business we didn't get the lower rate and they were going to fix that for us. She then put me on hold. Then I guy picked up and said she shouldn't have put me on hold, we never put our business accounts on hold. Making a big deal about it as he was a manager. Now I am seeing that this is a scam and say sorry are you from Verizon? And he goes on about how she should have explained all of this. No we are birch. You are paying a high rate for your phones and I am going to fix that for you. I said no, we are a nonprofit and get a special rate for our cell phones. He says no for your land lines you pay way too much. So I say but you're not Verizon, are you privy to our bills? He doesn't know what "privy" is. I say you can see our bills? You know what we pay? He says he can't see our bills but he knows what businesses pay for their landlines and we pay too much. I say I'm going to stop you right there. We are not going to do business with you. And of course he keeps trying so I say have a good day and hang up. read more

this is the worst company i have ever done business with. do not do business with this company. they are jerks! they are still trying to collect money from me because they claim i made international calls when i did no such thing. one of my phone lines was hacked by criminals that somehow had codes to invade my voice mail system and set up call forwarding on my line. i never knew about it until birch tried to bill me for over $12,000! i had auto pay and had all this money sucked out of my account. when i called birch to try to find out why this was happening no one would tell me. they refused to allow me to speak to a supervisor or a manager or the billing department. now birch is turning me over to a collection agency because i refuse to pay for calls i did not make and no one at my company made these calls. they claim that their fraud department cannot be reached because they have no direct phone line to them! how convenient that this department cannot be reached by the customers that are being ripped off by them! if you have this company as your phone company call them now and inform them that you will not be renewing your contract with them! read more

BUYER BEWARE! My husband was in business for 37 years as an insurance agent. For the last five years of his business, he used Birch Communications as his telephone and internet provider. My husband retired as of December 31, 2016. His contract with Birch Communications ran until January 23, 2017, so he dutifully notified Birch Communications of his pending retirement and followed all of the protocol required of him to end his business with Birch. However, we have just been threatened with a collection agency because they claim his internet continued running EVEN THOUGH he had notified them of his retirement and provided them with all final payment and was no longer at the office. The outstanding bill according to Birch was $335. They claim it takes an additional 30 days to cancel the internet. My husband was not informed of this situation as he completed his contract with them. He even spoke with a supervisor and they would only waive an $8 late fee. No further consideration was afforded him. DO NOT GIVE YOUR BUSINESS TO THIS COMPANY! They need to be run out of business! read more

If you are a business, do NOT sign up with Birch. They were good when they were CBeyond and had knowledgeable people working, but now they have a bunch of people answering phones that pretend to know what they are talking about (but are just reading a script), and lie to you just to get you off the phone. And NEVER believe them when they say they will call you back. I have various examples of why this company is the bane of my existence and makes my work life such a pain, there are just too many to list here. Overall, they are non-responsive, hard to get a hold of (prepare for very long wait and hold times), incompetent, and dishonest (they gave me a discount on my contract then didn't believe me that I was due a discount until I sent them the signed contract - shouldn't they have this already?), disorganized, and not worth all the time and effort you will spend on calling them repeatedly throughout your work day. STAY AWAY FROM ANYONE THAT CALLS FROM BIRCH!!! They misrepresent themselves as your current provider, which in our case AT&T. They are extremely aggressive and questions why we do not want to sign up with their service (right there and then) when they can save us about $20 per month. When told that we need to research and then decided as partners whether we want to switch out of AT&T then they said to me "what is there to research when they can save us money"!?!?! The guy that I spoke to is James Fields (1-844-244-4554), he indicated that he can get on the internet with me and allow me to research the company while he is on the phone. He gets more aggressive each time I told him we cannot proceed with the change unless all partners agree. If the company is that legit then they shouldn't have a problem waiting for us to get back with them. It is a very bad sign when a company is so pushy and aggressive.STAY AWAY... If I could give a negative star I would. Our Business has been trying since February to get them to repair our phone lines which have become so garbled conversations were horrible. Failing to be able to get through by phone or email, I called AT&T to repair. They could not since we are Birch Customers. Again, for days we tried to get Birch. When all attempts failed, we called AT&T to return to them. They changed the account, came right out, repaired the lines and the next day Birch called. Coincidence? I explained. They said we auto-renewed on March 2 and there would be an early termination fee of $500. To be rid of them I asked that they mail the bill. A week later Lisa Gurney from Birch called and said they can't cancel service until they have the AT&T order we placed and the order number. The Admin who handled it was out, so Lisa left her phone number and extension and email. Surprise! we cannot even put in an extension and any option we select is "experiencing a higher than normal call volume".. Just like the other attempts we've made. The email bounced back. We can't get an answer at any number we have on file or on the website or on the bill. I called the "new service" number and someone answered immediately. When I asked to be switched and told them why, I was cut off. Stay away from this company till they get their act together. As long as everything's perfect and you need no help, it's fine. If there's ANY hiccup, you cannot get service. Period. I intend now to protest even the early termination fee. read more

I would put a zero if I could. I got a call to our business from someone saying they represented Century Link and he was just calling to inform me that my bill will be lowered next month. That they dropped the rates of the phone lines so they are passing the savings onto their customers and this is just a courtesy call. They didn't say they were a completely different company or ask me if I wanted to switch my service, nor did I think that was what I was doing. I ended up getting transferred to someone else which then put up the red flags for me, they went through a spiel and had me listen to a recording, at that point I began to feel like I was being hustled and realized it was a different company and by agreeing to this I was switching phone companies, so I hung up. They called back and tried to sell me on switching, when I questioned their company and stated I wanted to do more research before switching, the representative then became rude, condescending and very unprofessional. This is an obvious scam of a company and the only way they can gain any business is to hire sleazy sales people who try to trick you into signing up for their business. Terrible business! read more

I received a call this morning from someone wanting to discuss our AT&T account. The guy said this was just a courtesy call to inform me our bill was being reduced next month and I didn't have to do anything. Great I thought but then he transferred me to a different department so I could get my "confirmation" number. This is where things got fishy. The lady I spoke with said I had to answer a few questions about our company before I could get the "discount." I then began questioning her if she was an AT&T rep. Turns out she is representing Birch Communications and in reality I would be switching phone companies. Super sneaky!!! I almost fell for it. I told her I had never heard of them and was not interested in switching. She tried very hard and after being polite about it I finally just said I was going to hang up and she ends with, "fine, keep your high bill!" LOL. Stay away!!! They sound like a total scam... they represent themselves as if they're calling directly from your current provider. From reading the other reviews it seems they do this a lot. Oh and she also said they had a great BBB rating...looked them up and they are not accredited with the BBB and only have negative reviews. read more

Be very careful with dealing with Birch. I called them with 3 months left on my 3 YEAR contract in October. They would not let me cancel at that time, even when asking them to cancel at the end of the contract which was 3 months out. I never made another call as I only use the line for credit care transactions (we changed to Ethernet). 3 months after my contract ended, I remembered and called to cancel only to find out that my contract auto-renewed for another year. What?? After speaking with several rude Birch customer representatives, I was given a supervisor. He was a reasonable person with absolutely no willingness or power to make things right. When asked to talk to someone hire, he said not one hire would tell me anythign different. I explained that I haven't made a single call since October and I would have been better off cancelling at that time and paid the early termination fee then. I stayed on only to full fill my contract. The customer service rep never said anything in October about that!! I explained I don't even know where my contract is. Who looks at their contract after speaking to a customer service representative who gives you direction as to what you need to do?? Obviously, they have NO record of the October call. AND, they claim they have no ability to check to verify I have not made a single call in 6 months!! They are the phone company right?? I am not paying the termination fee ($180) and they can hire a collection company for $180, good luck. DON'T GO WITH BIRCH!! read more

We were with CBeyond for 5 years and Birch bought cbeyond early this year. Since then we have had numerous phone and internet outages. But that is not the real problem. We scheduled a moved and paid for expedited service. As I am writing this I am on hold with them. No one contacted me after we scheduled for nearly 2 weeks and of course I called repeatedly to get the story many were told that there is no one to speak to and that they will email the department responsible. 3 weeks ago verizon installed the lines in our location. I promptly called to let them know we were ready for the inside install. They insisted the work was never completed on Verizon's end though I insisted it was. Now I call because the scheduled date for completion passed last week with no technician arriving. Meanwhile we are an internet company and without internet at our new location so we are having to drive packing list labels back and forth and also have no inventory system currently working. It has been 15 minutes. The lady just came back on saying she will have them call back because the wait will be too long. I declined because I know that will never happen - never gotten a call back yet. So now I am told I will have to schedule an install because the circuits were tested and worked on the "install" date though they were there and I am sure working 3 weeks prior. In any event, DO NOT USE BIRCH. The customer service is deplorable. Our contract will end in 6 months and we will be moving everything to a new provider. i have had att for over 10 years and was perfectly happy, until one day recieving a call from someone that stated that they were from att and said the had a discount program to save our business some money. come to find out that it wasn't att but birch!!! what scam artists!!! stay away from this company. now they keep sending us bills after we cancelled numerous times and stated we did't want their services. constant battle to resolve all issues and have peace of mind that they will not send us another bill of a ridiculous amount, even after never using their services. scam...scam...scam!!!!! read more

RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Unfortunately Birch Communications bought out Liberty Bell Telecommunications in Denver, CO. I called Birch communications wanting them to explain why the due date for my landline phone service was moved up to the 29th of the every month instead of the 6th of the month. The agent I spoke with explained in a very rude manner that it could not be changed so I was put on hold for her supervisor. After 15 minutes of holding with no response I called back and again requested a Supervisor. This was the rudest supervisor I have ever spoke with in my life explaining in a harsh rude manner saying to me "ma'am, you have already been told 4 times that nothing can be done to change the due date to the 6th of the month." I then told her she had a rude demeanor and was not a good example of how a supervisor is supposed to act. I asked to speak to her manager. This supervisor informed me she did not have a manager. I then told her that within the next two months I will just give up my Denver Landline Service that I only keep to use my COPPER.NET Dial-up service (Copper.net has excellent customer service). This Birch Communication Supervisor seemmed unfazed and said that is fine with her. My final comments are that I predict with all the negative customer service comments about Birch Communications is that this business will not survive! read more

Birch is now our carrier after they acquired Cbeyond. I didn't think things could get any worse. I see now, I was mistaken. I have been trying to get a billing dispute resolved since November (4 months). We are now without service and have been for more than 3 days. How many businesses can afford to have this happen? I have contacted technical support and customer care multiple times. Both departments state things are being done or they will do things that they end up not doing. I have asked for supervisor assistance, but the supervisors are never available and I have as yet to be contacted by any of the 4 that were supposedly given messages to contact me. I can not believe the incompetence of this company's employees. If you have not signed anything with this company, DON'T! I can't stress that enough. Much like many of the other reviewers, I received a call from Birch. My employer has phone service through CenturyLink. The first salesman, Michael Wilkerson, told me that Birch was calling to let our business know that they were taking over our phone service and our rates would be lowered to $58.95 per line a month. When he asked me to confirm how much we pay, I was not comfortable giving out any information. I asked who he was because I didn't understand why he was calling us and how they were connected with CenturyLink. He tried explaining, comparing Birch to a travel agent and phone service to plane tickets. I said, "Oh, this is a sales call." He said, "No, there's nothing for us to sell you." We went in circles a couple of more times before he literally said, "We're not trying to do anything bad to you. We're the good guys." He then passed me off to Jason, a Reference Manager. At this point, I googled Birch and starting reading the abysmal reviews here. The Reference Manager connected me to a recording that asked for my name and title. Then I hung up. Be careful!
